The Valenta HST Scream - HSTs at Swindon
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Scenes from 11th July 1994 before the new platform 4 was built at Swindon. Down HST's had a rather torturous arrival and departure from platform 3 but plenty of clag was often to be seen as they finally rejoin the down fast.
We see;
20:15 Paddington to Weston super Mare, departing Swindon at 21:19.
20:00 Paddington to Swansea service departing at 2059
Technical Details
Filmed on a Sony EVW 300P Hi 8 Camera
De interlaced in Staxrip
Edited & Graded in Davinci Resolve.
I could grab a Maxpax coffee and watch these videos all day
Don't forget your travellers fare cheese "sandwich" 😉
The kudos and swagger of that Guard smoking a gasper on duty. Happy, free, much better times!
😂 bet he was a character
The guard lighting up in the cab! Brilliant! 1:31
Best trains in the world. Fastest most capable the Class 43 HST. Sounds best with a Valenta that Napier turbo screaming. Awesome machines. I didn’t like the MTU’s at launch but they grew on me, brilliant German engineering.
Great video this almost looks like TV broadcast quality thanks for uploading this gem of a video.
Glad you enjoyed it, it was a semi pro camera at the time but a lot of tinkering in modern up scaling software
I can't get over the picture quality of this video. It is like ultra HD.
The latest Ona a Paddington is even better, the software improves month by month
Nice video and proper swallow livery
Cheltenham bound trains were a sight to see on departure from Swindon Platform 3, as they frequently would notch up to full power momentarily!
Shame there wasnt one when i was there, sounds good
The state of some of those rails is apauling
It's a wonder they stayed on the tracker...seen smoother rails in a quarry!
Nice…I always found that from somewhat larger stations like Reading, or Swindon, the departures were often a bit more polite…but once you got away to smaller stations, e.g. Pewsey, Totnes, to name just a couple of random ones, often they’d get thrashed:
Beltin! There's quite a lot of rocking and rolling there as they make their way in and out and of course, there's always some wazzock who gets in the way ;)
And with Jacob Rhys-Mogg driving one of them too (around 2:00).
😂
Must be a doppelganger for the Moggster.
Nowadays westbound services at Swindon go straight off the new Platform 1.
Editing on this is fantastic
Always surprised how slow the crossover layout was at Swindon, considering the vast majority of trains called and the clear desire of BR for competitive journey times along the M4 corridor. I bet those 20/25mph limits weren’t often strictly observed though, probably why the track alignment is in such poor condition 😂 And of course the infamous hump over the station subway (which only recently still meant freight was limited to 40mph to avoid causing structural damage.)
Never noticed that hump before
Lovely video!!!
Must have been very hot as there's some serious track warpage going on
A few class 37 stabled
Proper traction
I wonder how those trains are dancing over the tracks. British Rail didn´t give much money to work at it, right?
The rest of the line is really smooth
Just that bit that’s rubbish 😂
The GWML is really rough over long stretches now, and the gallows and goalposts are a blight on the landscape.
First class
1:43 Don't get many of them to the pound. Especially in Swindon
😀
