Crystal, your generosity is a credit to your character. I will watch and study the video that you spent your valuable time creating for those of us in need of this information today. During these odd times we find ourselves living in, times where negativity, worry and uncertainty are so prevalent, your unexpected kindness is a big, bright, beautiful light! A light of kindness. Saying thank you feels very shallow, so should you ever need something I might be able to provide, I owe you one! A positive review, encouragement or validation that you are truly awesome, someone to bounce an idea off of, a letter of recommendation or just pen pal…….reach out with no hesitation, cuz I’m your gal. In the meantime, shallow as it is, THANK YOU times infinity beautiful girl. 💕
Oh my gosh. I was desperate to figure this out, when you said to slice and moved the text....my jaw dropped. I was like whaaaaaat!?!!? Thanks so much. Great tutorial video ❤
This instruction video was perfection! Not too long but very informative. I followed your step by step instruction and it worked!! Thank you! I am subscribing!
Thank you so much. I needed to put an outline on a design that I already had on a shirt and this tutorial was so helpful and perfect for what I wanted to do.
Love your videos. They have helped so much! I have a question that I just cant figure out... When on design space I put "family" in cursive and a line through the F and Y how do I get it to slice through the line leaving the F and Y still full and leaving space between the "sliced" line and the bottom of the F/Y. So pretty much want the bottom of the F/Y to slice through a line but when I slice theres not enough space between the letters and line. Idk if that makes sense. Hard to explain. I've looked it up so much and I cant seem to find anything to help me. Was seeing if you could make a quick video of it. I wish I could post a picture of what I mean. Hope to hear back! :)
I'm not quite sure I'm understanding what you mean. So you've sliced out a line in the middle of the "F" and the middle of the "Y". Does the line go all the way through the word "Family" or only through the "F" and the "Y"? And then you're wanting a good amount of space between the upper and lower parts of the letters you just sliced but you want the letters to still keep their full look, not be half missing because of the slice?
Those lines are the cut lines that tell Cricut where to cut. If you're cutting your project you need them there. When you switch your project from "Cut" to "Print then Cut" the lines go away. I just do that so things look pretty for the thumbnail pic.
They are already separate layers when you create them. They'll all cut separately as long as they are all different colors. Even same colors will cut separately, just on the same mat.
Hi. Good to know. Wondering if you could teach us how to make SVG files like those from Miss Kate Cuttables where you have a phrase(s) with images. For ex. The words Balloon Festival with balloons with string around it or Happy Birthday with candles and presents with it. TIA.
Learning to create your own SVG files is a very detailed process. It's more than a UA-cam video can cover in one session. I'm in the process of creating a full on course on how to do it but it will be a while before it's finished. It will also be a paid course.
You can outline an image in Cricut Design Space by using the offset tool. Just select your image and then click "offset" up in the top menu. The offset will appear behind your image and you can decide how big you want it to be.
Can someone teach me how to outline the INSIDE of a shape drawing the lines either w/a pen, or using the foil tool, in design space? Been searching for DAYS, HELP, HELP, HELP, PREETY PLEASE!
Design Space currently doesn't have a feature that will let you "trace" or "outline" the inside of individual shapes or letters. You can do it in Inkscape though. I can make a tutorial on that for you if you want to tell me a little more about what you're wanting to accomplish.
@@CrystalsCrafties OH DEAR, I've either wiped out the beginning of my reply, or hit send w/o intending too. So pls forgive me if I seem to be repeating myself in this message. To say thank you to such a generous offer of a custom video for me feels far too shallow, but sadly Crystal, It is all I have to offer you. So, without further ado, OH YES!, I would love to take advantage of your offer, if you feel like you'll be able to figure this one out for me. If we do figure it, I could then go to bed tonight w/joy for having a successful day, after six unsuccessful days in a row, that have been eating away at my self confidence. The best way to describe what I am attempting to do is to show you vs. trying to explain it. If you click on the following link it will take you to the Anna Griffin website and specifically, to her slimline birthday card kit. Click on the second picture, that shows everything that's included in the kit. Looking at the top row, second sentiment in, you will see the sentiment that says, "Enjoy your Special Day". Depending on how clear you can see it, or how much you can zoom in, you'll see the bottom or first square is outlined, (in foil) with the sentiment square then centered on top and w/in the foiled squares. These outlines, or inlines w/in the squares done in foil is what I am trying to recreate. And additionally, after the foiled lines are complete, then have D.S. cut the square out for me. annagriffin.com/product/slimline-birthday-card-making-kit/ I had one other response to my cry for help, that given my limited knowledge, found difficult to understand. I've copied and pasted it here for you to read in the off chance you might find it helpful. "The Offset feature, recently added to Design Space desktop version, will add the interior lines you are referring to, when used with a negative distance setting. In fact, multiple negative offsets is an alternate way to fill objects for drawing, engraving and foiling." I don't understand the terms "negative distance setting" and "negative offsets". It sounds so mature and at a level of understanding I've yet to achieve. I look forward to the day I am able to understand what I consider the more difficult concepts. If in the end after reading this you've found it to be far too time consuming, or boring, or just whatever, please don't worry, I'll completely understand and be over the top VERY THANKFUL that you chose to respond in the first place vs. ignoring the cry of a crazy lady. Many heartfelt and sincere thanks with a big, warm Texas sized hug, coming to you from The Woodlands, Texas! Where we live happily ever after on the inside of a forest. Your Pal, Alpine
Okay, I understand what you're wanting to do. I can create the tutorial for you (and I think many people would benefit from it). I'll work on it today.
I watched over 4 video's and couldn't get shadow to work. You made it so easy. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Omg. This just saved me hours.
Yay! I'm glad it helped!
OUTSTANDING!
Thank You for your help. I tried watching others and they were too confusing
Glad it helped!
You. Are. Amazing!!!!
Yes this is SOOOO BEGINNER FRIENDLY… Thanks Chicka …. Question do I have to do a print an cut in order to keep 2 different colors??
Nope, you just cut each color of vinyl individually and then layer them on top of each other when they're done cutting.
So easy! Thanks so much for this!
Thank you!
brilliant, thanks
thansk so much 2 years later!
Thank you !!!!
Thank you so muchhh
No problem 😊
Omg. Ty so much!
What if you want to hollow out the inside of the O, L and E?
I tried, but I could not slice and it did not work out for me, maybe because of the font, but you did a great job on teaching.
I always thought this was so hard
Can I ask what design space you use as mine does not have all the options up top and sides
Can you make the text transparent?
I used the offset option to get my outline. is that how you made you card?
How do I print two different colors? Thank you!! I’m excited to make my first name decal!! First vinyl project
You would cut one color at a time and then layer the 2 together (stick the name to the background) after you have them cut.
Love your videos. They have helped so much!
I have a question that I just cant figure out...

how did you get the black lines to go away in the example you show first? I cant get mine to look like that
Those lines are the cut lines that tell Cricut where to cut. If you're cutting your project you need them there. When you switch your project from "Cut" to "Print then Cut" the lines go away. I just do that so things look pretty for the thumbnail pic.
when you cut that piece of you weld it does it cut all in one piece or do you cut 2 pieces then overlay.
I can’t get the slice feature to work on my iPad. 😊
To have those colors do you use a special vinyl or is this to be used with the printable ink?
You could do it either way. You can cut each individual layer from different colors of vinyl or you could print it and cut it.
I don’t have outline on my app. How can I get it?
What font is this? I tried to read it in the video but it wasn’t showing
🙌🏾 bless you
once, I have completed the outline boarder, how do I separate each letter to cut separately and well as the boarder letters?
They are already separate layers when you create them. They'll all cut separately as long as they are all different colors. Even same colors will cut separately, just on the same mat.
@@CrystalsCrafties thank you. I figured it out.
Can you make the outline thicker?
Yep, you can adjust the offset to be larger or smaller.

Does this apply to graphics as well?
Yes, you can put the outline on anything. :)
how would you use this if you're wanting to outline an image? I get "points" that I don't want and don't understand how to smooth those out
You can outline an image in Cricut Design Space by using the offset tool. Just select your image and then click "offset" up in the top menu. The offset will appear behind your image and you can decide how big you want it to be.
only PC have offset
What if you don’t have offset?
I tried to use the offset and it didn't work for me?
Or if you already have a video on this, please direct me to it. Thank you.
How can I do this from my phone or iPad it doesn’t give me the option for offset
I was wondering this too
exactly😓
Off set is on the iPad now under edit
Yes it does
It's on the edit part
Can you outline an image?
Yep, works the same way.

My offset does not work 😔
My offset feature doesn’t work 😩.
Me too ✋l don't know why😔
Mines gone
It will not let me slice them
Make sure you only have 2 items selected at a time. DS will not slice more than 2 things at a time.
The outline turned out small
Thank you!!!!
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
