💀 UTG DEEP DISCUSSIONS 💀
🎥 Topics of Terror from the Rabbit Hole of Randomness
🍿 Doctor Who 'Terror of the Zygons' is NIGHTMARE FUEL
🎬 Connor once again travels into the Whoniverse. This time, he tackles a deeply disturbing classic from the golden era of Tom Baker's tenure, 'Terror of the Zygons'. Here, an alien race of shapeshifters are in Scotland causing a stir for the Doctor and UNIT. Oh, and the Loch Ness Monster is on the loose...

Pulled this one from the Nightmare Fuel archives! What do you think of TERROR OF THE ZYGONS? - Connor
What do you think about the Tom Baker ep with the spiders
At 5 years old on first broadcast this was the greatest thing i'd ever seen. It's STILL eerie and never talked down to kids.
This was my first Dr Who story. It's been my favourite ever since. They never got the Zygons right when they brought them back. I miss Dr Who being this great.
Well I thought the original Zygons looked damn sight better then what came after. There was a semi transparent quality to them, that their modern counterparts din't have. Great story and great creations imo.
Totally agree! The 70s Zygons look better than the modern ones, that ironically look like something from the 70s.
They didn't get the eyes right and the newer versions look like a fabrication - professional but not inspired. Plus they never had teeth in the original version. Something to be said for creative genius working with a tight budget.
Geoffrey Burgon's music adds so much. Great performances from everyone. Special mention to John Woodnutt as Broton in alien and human form (and as the human Duke!). The Skarasan is a let down but it's testament to the quality of this story that it doesn't seem to matter all that much.
The Autons and Zygons Definitely Need to make an appearance together.
Well, if you're looking for Doctor Who Nightmarefuel recommendations, I'll give you one. The Silence. The design! The concept! The fucking noise they make! Gave me proper nightmares as a kid! I'd love to see your take on them.
I don’t know why, but the nurse lady really reminds me of Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, funny enough both that and TOTZ released in 1975.
Really enjoy this one. A great blend of the Jon Pertwee earth bound format with the gothic horror flare of Hinchcliffe’s vision.
Tom baker, my favourite doctor who!
The great TOM BAKER was everybody's favorite DR.WHO,he was the best
I like Terror of the Zygons
Completely agree. The 70s series was a horror, the new effort was just daft. What a wasted opportunity.
Just come across your channel. Love these videos! Can’t wait for more :)
A really strong, classic Who story. Classic Who was so much more atmospheric, better acted, and had proper storylines, and characters. It may have lacked the CGI effects and loud music of modern Who, but for me , I would take Classic Who every time. 😊
They had better more economic narratives and were made by creatives and not marketing departments.
This is one of my fave doctor who stories
Remember watching it at 5 years old when it came out! It still holds up and a good example of what the show can be.
Fantastic story, so much better than anything today.
I always thought the Zygons were far scarier in human form than their alien. I forgot about this one! I should give it a rewatch sometime! I’m glad someone else thought it was Zygons were a strange choice for the fiftieth. I heard it was because they are Tennant’s favorite monsters but it still feels random.
You mentioned taking suggestions scary DW episodes to cover:
Classic: I can’t think of the name of it but the one set in The Land of Fiction stands out as being really eerie.
Modern: The Empty Child/ Doctor Dances, Listen
Big Finish: I don’t know if you would consider covering any BF but The Chimes of Midnight is so creepy and a true classic!
Torchwood: Children of Earth is possibly one the darkest stories in the Whoniverse!
