I spent endless hours playing this in high school, it is easily the most intense love I've ever had for a video game. Glad to hear it mostly holds up. This video was perfect in the way it captured the feeling of playing this masterpiece.
Best map ever. On ISI server in highschool with s full squad of 6 friends. Hps leatherface. Hps pumpslugz. Hps smiley. Hps toymachine. Hps Airwalk. Hps Mandy.
One thing I really, really miss about BF2. Drawing a knife on somebody and having them draw their knife back on you. Then proceeding to dolphin dive all over the fucking place as you both tried to knife each others' ankles for that sweet instakill.
An unwritten rule: two people alone don't shoot at each other at close range, they fight it out with knives. If a third appears, on either team, he waits and sees the outcome. Then he is next. That was what made BF2 memorable: equals fighting equals
Spending an entire match hunkered down at the initial spawn as the commander...and watching as your team follows your commands and works as individually cohesive units to dominate...nothing will ever top that feeling.
@@unknown-agario4115 I had a great game last night as a squad leader. We had a fun combined arms push tank and infantry a few times. I use voice chat to issue orders. A few full 64 man servers active for sure.
Forgot to mention the incessant spam in the radio, I can still hear the arab guy saying he spotted an enemy apc, an enemy tank, enemy movement, everything.
heh, I kinda miss it too, actually, I don't know if you guys are aware but Battlelog has fully functional BF2 servers, and it's 100% free, I recommend it if you wanna relive some of these experiences.
One of my favorite things about BF2 was the sense of progression. When you received a promotion, a medal, a badge, or a ribbon, you damn well knew exactly what it was for and you could actually be proud of it. Today's "achievements" and "ranks" are all but completely disposable.
BF 1 is just another bad company sequel. does not follow in the footsteps of 1942 or 2. FFS they couldnt even remember to do what they fixed in previous games like the barrel needing line of sight to the target for your rounds to hit them. nope u can now peak just over a barrier with your head and fire rounds into people right through that barrier.
Me too, played it on a mates gaming PC. Immediately started applying for jobs, got one, saved up, built a PC, quit the job and gamed and gamed. I was about 13. So worth it.
Same here. Turned 20, in 2005, and bought $2,500 worth of pc with my first ever credit card on new egg. Man, I'll never forget the first session until 6am! The best times!
@@hitokiribattousai6406 I wish DICE/EA would remaster that game and release it with the DLCs, update the netcode and bring the graphics up to today's standard, no loot crates or battle passes. They'll be basically printing money with that game.
Battlefield 2 is the best Multiplayer Shooter ever. I dont know why DICE & EA sucks now. They should do BF2 with new graphik no extras no attachment shits unlockments etc. and everything is good! This can't be so hard
DICE and EA (mainly EA) suck now because their shareholders and executives are becoming exceedingly greedy. There again, I suppose you can also blame the customers that continue to buy into the franchise as they're the ones supporting the openly rapacious company that EA has become. It's certainly not the company it once was.
Well, lets see...one generation worked together towards a goal and went for a team victory...and another just has a bunch of people seeking their own glory, usually costing the team a win. I'll go with my gen any day.
i'm yet to find a game that will keep me glued to my screen for hours at a time......going to bed at 3am to get up for work at 6am only to do it all again....weekends would mean even longer hours on BF2......i wish they would make another BF2, exactly how the first one was just better graphics etc, that would make me happy....I wonder what BF5 will be like in October??????
I want this too so badly too!!! I've never been involved more in a game than BF2. Being it commanding a game or just being anything from foot soldier to bringing death via Cobra gunships or fighter jets... It's just never been the same in any other game...
Also the two things that i like about this game: 1. It has an european faction in it. BF game since BC1 have acted like Europe does not even exist. 2. All 4 factions are realistic. They all speak their own languages, their uniforms are realistic and they use the weapons of their real life counterparts and other factions have no access to those weapons. All 3 factions in BF4 using the same weapons is easily the worst thing about BF4.
Yes I remember the European Union(NATO) I remember playing BF 2 and they started giving out does expansions for free that was years ago great don't know if people still playing it now days
This is one of those games that NEEDS a remaster. Since the servers are down; it seems like the opportune time to bring back those old memories again. While, yes, the dedicated and astoundingly large modding community have got the servers back up and running again; it's still a very complicated process to join a game. Not to mention that it's near impossible to find a copy of this game anywhere since it's no longer being sold on Steam or Origin. So, EA, if you want as much money as we all think you do, then this is the perfect chance to get some.
+So Many Poops If you want to play BF2, Go to battlelog . co and thats where the BF2 Revive project is, and you can download and play bf2 again. Even if you dont have a CD key, so its basicly free now! Anyone can play it now, thanks to The Blue Community Reviving it :D
+So Many Poops but we arent just doing anything with it, we are keeping it what it originally was. If only just for the people who had this game take up a big part of their lives and want to say hi to an old friend :) + Blue's been apart of bf2 since the begining, No one else picked up the job of fixing bf2 sept Blue. Though i will say that PR still rocks too and theyve done ALOT more with the game engine.
I remeber when bf3 came out, As a hardcore Battlefield fan i preorderd bf3 as soon as i could. I almost cried when i played it.. Battlefield 2142 was the last real battlefield game
+Typical Feminist Hypocrite Cannot agree more. 2142 was great even if it was just a reskinned 2 with extra gadgets. I used to criticize that game for being a cash grab but now I realize that it's exactly what I want the next bf game to be. BF2 was perfection despite the nade spam, dolphin diving and guns with their scopes not dialed in but that is exactly what I hope the next bf will be.
+DangerDavez Yeah it was very much a futuristic Bf2, although the style of movement and shooting was quite different and really fun. ended up falling in love with that game, Damn i miss it haha.
+Typical Feminist Hypocrite Yeah, in retrospect I feel the same although back the I didn´t like BF2142 for it´s setting and the fact that it was pretty much just a BF2 mod! I actually also liked BFBC2 for what I thought what it was...a spinoff. It took care of many of the problems of BF2/2142 though it was never a real BF and more designed around Infantry combat! To me personally that was OK since I never expected it to be a BF2 successor and was eagerly awaiting BF3 as the real successor of BF2 with the advancements of BFBC2 but larger maps, more vehicles and true BF gameplay! Boy, was I disappointed when I finally got my copy of BF3! That epileptic browser game felt nothing like BF and I still passionately HATE it for ruining my favourite gaming franchise!
+B0nkers after bf2, bad company 2 was my favourite. it had so many things right. Great maps that didn't up in stale bottlenecks like alot of the popular infantry based maps on bf3-4
2019 and still kicking. I had a great squad last night, and we had a very successful/nostalgic combined arms push to the airfield on Wake Island. Also a great helicopter air cavalry squad on Mashtuur City. The voice chat still holds up and is essential for squad commanding. It takes a little bit to get the BF2Hub client program installed, but once you do there are at least three or four quite active 64 man servers.
One thing I REALLY miss is only being able to use the guns that your faction has. It really makes you feel like you're playing for that country's side.
+HaProductions01 ENEMY BOAT SPOTTED I SPOTTED AN ENEMY BOAT HOSTILE AIRCRAFT ENEMY INFANTRY SPOTTED I SPOTTED AN ENEMY SNIPER ENEMY TANK SPOTTED Jesus christ, wake island was the worst spam map. Lol
Yeah. On-foot players could actually go toe-to-toe with vehicles and stand a chance AND you didn't have to do stupid shit to use the weapons that came with the expansions.
what was really cool was how a single guy who sneackely stole a flag somewhere in the corner just before your entire side had nowhere to spawn , prolonging the entire battle or even chasing the entire course of the battle was really cool and i am very happy to say that i was a part of this game back in its prime
BF2 is one of my all time favorite fps games. Sure it had it's ups and downs, but hey, no games are perfect. Bf2 will forever have a place in my heart. If only more fps games could be as good as Bf2 was
+Games Cooky I used to love it. Each time a new game comes out I switch and play that and I always hate the changes at first but I'm really liking BF4. It plays and looks so much better. I miss some of the old maps though
SpacedTime I like Bf4 as well. Although it was a wreck on release, Dice has done a good job fixing the game with the patches. It's an enjoyable game. Bf2 is so nostalgic to me. I used to play it so often back in the days. I love battlefield in general. Way better than the more faste pased games like call of duty
Bad Company 2 had great destruction and Rush mode was fantastic, but it was a consolized game through and through. Battlefield 2 and 2142 were both much better games in my opinion, and since they were designed with PC in mind, they shined in almost every single way.
And now on bf1 nobody speaks, medics run off without healing people. support players never give ammo, Team mates don't work together. It actually spoils the game
The Vegan MGTOW cause all the new kids just play it as cod. You can tell a long time bf'er pretty quickly. I've had dpad buttons where out from dropping so much ammo.
Only if it is PC exclusive, no SP - just glorious Mp. And NO NOOB CRUTCHES. Throw out all the crap that has been included in the Frostbite Engine Battlefield titles that are meant to *"lower the threshold"* ! Consoles on the other hand should get the remake of *"Battlefield 2: Modern Combat"* !
DANNYonPC SP/LAN with Bots is all the SP I need in a Battlefield game. ;) Bad Company is a different story - loved the SP in the first one, the second one was too serious but still okay. Let's wait for the Hardline SP before we praise Visceral too much. ;-)
LOL! Harsh. Hardline was a decent shooter. Didn't need the Battlefield name on it, but it was a decent, fun shooter. Lots of what they tried in Hardline made it into BF1, people need to remember that
It was probably one of the least buggy and most polished Battlefield games to date. Granted, it probably shouldn't have even been a Battlefield game to begin with and Hardline should have become like a larger scale competitor to Siege from EA, but that doesn't make it not a great game. I think that it would have been far more popular if they'd done a cops/National Guard vs Cartels/terrorists setting than the pure cops and robbers that they went with. Fighting terrorists on the streets of LA is way more engaging than fighting a gang on the streets of LA because one of these things is a fresh experience and the other is the evening news.
And the fog was one of the BIGGEST TACTICAL ELEMENTS! People completely forget that! Play Oman, S@K, Sharqui, or Wake in BF3 - absolutely HORRIBLE. The fog is ugly, but it is a tactical element crucial for the gameplay on those maps.
Battle(non)sense It's indeed crucial! Without the fog it's a sniper's wet dream come true. The maps simply weren't designed vertically or horizontally to be played without a limited draw distance.
One of the biggest reason old games seem so much better than new games is our expectation. When you were younger the games were not as finetuned so anything that hasn't been done before with instantly exciting. Games these days are getting less and less unique.
Karkand is the best. Too bad it didnt make it to battlefield 4. Wake island survived through BF1942, 2, and 3. So Karkand should survive through 2, 3 and 4. Oman did
well because Wake Island is an absolutely amazing map. It is very tactical, contains everything from very short to very high range fights, all types of vehicles, and looks just stunning.
Sucks how 2142 is 100% dead, and most BF2 servers are just Karkand 24/7 with 140 ping. I can't get enjoyment out of either because of these problems. However, when I found a populated 50 ping server ONE TIME, it was an absolute blast.
yeah lol, me too I'm lucky If I find a server with a not perfect ping but is playable. Gameranger just included support for them so I might try the fluidity of the games there
Yasser Dammak I tried getting back into it a few months back. Hated the constant Detpak spamming due to the weird friendly fire coding that allows whoever threw an explosive invulnerability to said explosive.
There was a screenshot I will never forget of the guy prone to a bench firing his machine gun - I kept showing people that shot, "Check out how amazing this looks!" hehehe
+that one guy It is EA, tons of micro-DLC. I just got the game today and the only bad thing about it are the graphics. The game is already perfect. Just get a mod that makes the graphics better.
My college days. God, I love and miss this game. I miss the sound of drums when I’d achieve a new rank or medal. You also had to spend hours on a certain class or vehicle to unlock the next rank or weapon. I also bought the European expansion games. This is my favorite first person shooter of all time!
Yes! The rewards were so great, and really helped you mentally progress towards each medal. Not to mention, reaching a new rank was incredibly satisfying....it was grindy, but made you actually care about your account.
Yea it's amazing, I just started playing it again for the first time since 2010. The nostalgic thoughts are correct, it's better than any other bf game
I primarily miss the team mechanics behind BF2 as an objective preference. This isn't nostalgic. I noticed the difference in the immediate followups. We eventually got amazing audio and graphics, but I just didn't have as much fun.
I remember being so amazed when I heard of BF1942 back in the day. My mind was still stuck on Medal of Honor and other first person shooters. To hear about vehicles, airplanes, and soldiers all engaging with one another on the same map made my brain bleed with excitement and confusion.
Blaine Bugaski when I heard bf4 could have 64 players I thought people were lying. I had only really played cod up until that point and I was so excited to drive around in a tank.
2008, living alone for the first time in a tiny apartment goig to school, spending most of mu free time playing battlefield 2, either alone or with my clan. being part of leagues, beating big name teams like SK gaming and Catchgamer. the intense moments. man, battlefield 2 was great.
I STILL consider 2142 to be superior. The way it turned something as crazy as mechs into realistic parts of a battle, and the titan mode, MAN the titan mode...whew. Best game mode ever.
It's incredibly sad that 2142 has died. I thought the community would stick around longer. Now there's hardly any servers up at all. Battlefield 2142 will always be my favorite battlefield game. I liked it even more than Battlefield 1942 during its time. 2142 gave us automated flying sentry bots, UAV bots, placeable shield cover, tactical cloak, placeable machine gun sentries, titan mode, drop pods, etc. 2142 was the most innovative game at its time and now the Battlefield franchise has deteriorated to the point where now they're calling a Cops vs Robbers a Battlefield game. That game doesn't even make any sense. "Hey, let's send in a military jet and deal millions dollars in property damage to catch some crooks robbing a bank!" They should have made 2143. 2142 with frostbite 3 would have been magnificent,
John Kim Well, they're definitely working on 2143, I just hope they do it justice... How I know they're working on 2143: Crates in some Battlefield 3 maps say "2143" on them. Battlefield 3 easter egg of a small futuristic UAV flying around. The last DLC pack for BF4 is called Final Stand. It includes maps called "Walker Factory" and "Titan" and features a "Multi Kill Vehicle" which is basically a drone with a damn minigun on it. Oh, and let's not forget the BJ-2 knife, which is the knife from BF2142.
Grim Games They're not. DICE is busy working on Battlefront 3, which is why Visceral made the spin-off Hardline. They probably will make 2143 after Battlefront 3, but that means we have to wait, what? 3 more years?
vietnam was my favorite. i liked 1942 and bf2 a lot but vietnam was so great. I loved the Mi-8 heli. 1 shotting huey noobs from halfway across the map with a well placed double rocket
Vietnam was great, but it was almost too realistic. I remember thinking how insane it would have been to actually be in the war because of how little I could see in the jungle levels. Oh, and the option to play music out of the vehicles that others could hear!? Fucking brilliant. I loved the VietCong loudspeaker messages on the city levels too..."GI! Your country has lied to you!"
Razur not sure if you read this,if you still have it installed, right click on the icon that starts the game and press properties,go to compatibilty And check the box that has compatibilty mode and set it for windows xp or vista. Try it It works for me
Nade spam was countered by proning and looking at walls. your head hitbox would be in the wall and nades rarely kill you. also AK / M16 > G36 everyday.
not really countered cause on levels like jalabad it didnt matter if u tried to do that, the wave of grenades and resupplies was just the tip of the sword as the squads moved forward through the city at a sprint. so if u tried that tactic they would just shoot u right away as they moved forward and u had your head in the wall.
not really an issue, have plenty of medic bags dropped around you and position yourself well and you'll be fine. the enemy has to deal with nades too so it's not like they have free rain of the streets.
Sir Delta well if both teams are employing mortars its easy 2. whenever you fire a mortar u appear on the minimap so your a ripe target for counter mortars. plus unless u get a direct hit its going ot take 2 mortars to kill someone. the time between mortars is long enough for a person to get up and move. i just dont really see the problem with it and ive played it quite abit. shotgun is far easier to rack up the kills with. snipers love a mortarman aswell. interesting tidbit, if your on a mortar u cant be bayonet charged or have a melee kill animation get u.
+TheBarser Also Galactic Conquest star wars mod for 1942... when that had 64 players, shit happened on that mod that makes Battlefront 1 2 and 3 look like the pieces of shit they always have been. Battlefront was directly inspired by the GC mod, which is why they included a story mode titled "galactic conquest" where you took control of the star chart one node at a time. In an interview they said they felt like the GC team "accomplished more" because working for a bigtime company made Battlefront's design process a lot less creative and a lot more corporate.
I'm so glad that i was possible to play BF2 for such a long time. Great game. Today there is no some kind of "magic" in new BFs. Teamplay, chating, action behind enemy lines...miss it a lot.
Personally, I think the jets in BF2 were better than the crap we've been giving since. They were powerful, just like air power should be. You also had bombs to drop using your judgement and skill to work out angles etc, not just laser guided crap. Two player jets. Better dog fights. Larger maps to fly around on. The only imbalance was the J20 vs F35 which made Wake awful at times. You had to RELOAD by flying back over your airfield, and this is how you repaired too. Not re-spawning ammo and health crap. Siiiiigh. I miss this game so much.
+TheH3dgie the 2 seated jet is it F-18 or F-16? I remembered I took the bomber role. It was one of greatest moments in video game I ever had. I never played BF4, but I also remembered gunner chopper also has 2 seat. The click guided missile on those chopper were fucking awesome. Oh, and the moment when you promoted. It was awesome moment. All your hardwork, your death and kill count was paid. You rank up to.... Sergeant! From 1st Class Corporal. And you look your teammate are Major, Captain, even 3 Star general lol.
+PokeMePT I'm playing with bots too. I guess it possible to play online. here: reddit[dot]com/r/battlefield_2/ I'm not sure there is too many people thoug...
RunwayIsAwesome They were already a scummy corporate business by this point. They had swallowed up some fantastic companies and either destroyed franchises or just started churning out shit for cash. They did, however, manage to still produce some good games as well.
BF2 was the best online multiplayer that has never been replicated. Great memories of just stuffing around in game and screen capping then uploading. wish i could find the old clips!
I think BC2 killed the series, not because it was a bad game, I loved it, but because EA saw the potential of this franchise to make serious cash. And they have done just that, at the expense of what made this game great.
TheBushwooky I think they went backwards with BF3 and that's the title that killed BF. BC2 had unparalleled destruction that made the game like nothing else anyone had played before. That's why it was so good. They took a lot of that out for BF3 and all we were left with was a bigger COD with some vehicles, which excited those twitch-shooter FPS players who didn't have to worry anymore about getting their favorite camping spot blown up by mortars or a tank. Which left us right back where we started.
Renegade Agents That's what I meant, BC 2 was great. But after it's release they realized how much money the next game could rake in. So they wanted to shape it to attract as many people as possible, and they succeeded . Then they did the same with BF 4. And then their rushed it to compete with COD.
Any earlier CnC really. I still love playing Tiberian Sun and modding the shit out of it. Renegade is honestly still fun as hell online even though it was Westwoods redheaded stepchild in the series.
+Enlightened Tha THIRD I think it´s a bit modded so you can play without gamespy or EA servers, but the game itself is basically just like the original.
Enlightened Tha THIRD it's the original game, it's classed as abandonware so you can download the game for free from that site and play it just like the good old days
It's Battlefield Play4Free. I was in the closed beta for that, and like BF Heroes, it was fun in closed beta and then it became completely ridiculous in pricing.
Google "BF2 Revive Project (BF2 Battlelog)". You can download and play the game for free. The game was taken by a group of devs and kept alive (and updated) ever since EA shut it down.
Best in the franchise imo. It had the claymore/grenede flaws of course, but the 'nades felt nerfed for some reason compared to BF2. The claymores were also relatively easy to disarm if you knew where to look. There was two things that really crushed me on this game. The first was being the main damage contributor to the enemies titan core. You could deal 99% of the damage to the core, and then die at the last second whilst your team-mate would get the achievement for simply shooting it with a pistol. I never did get that gold badge. The other issue for me was the admin abuse. I went on my old Battlefield 2142 stats after seeing your comment on a soldier that I'd decided to start a fresh on, half way through creating the soldier I figured it would be a good idea to rank via knife servers, as it gave additional points. My old machine was horrendous, I could just about go positive because of the instability on my rig, but my best mate being an IT technician hooked me up with a machine that could run the game smooth as a peach. I went 114-3 on my favorite (and the most popular) knife server, and got perm banned from it, because they couldn't take the ass whoopin'. Those two things were what made me quit that game. If it was still popular and those issues were fixed, I'd still be on it today. My only issue with modern BF games (BF1 in particular) - The knife animations take too long ;)
the demo for BF2 had gulf of oman only and was fully playable with no time limit, that's how I started with BF and ended up good enough to play in a clan later on. Memories of BF2's great moments will never die!
I have BF3 and enjoy it from time to time but it bothers me how many stupid systems the game has. For instance if you like sniping, if you use your scope it reflects the sun (no matter what direction the sun is) and people can see where you are. I get why it's there, because BF3+ has way more vegetation and stuff to hide in but it feels cheap.
Battlefield 2 is the best battlefield so far and also it was mind blowing in so many ways. It feels like i played the game a millenia ago but i still remember the fun and the thrill i had from it. Just seeing the logo makes me emotional. It reallly was the begining of a new era. Graphics might be old now but any other aspects would be still considered great if some unknown company had put it on the market now with new graphics. If you check the market there is still no competition for battlefield in the market. I don't mean as an FPS game but as a rival which does the same gameplay features. You can say arma but it is not a game that you can join a server and start the fight right away. It doesnt work that way. And its more of a simulation. There is the Squad but it is nothing like battlefield, it is still a simulation-ish. For example; PUBG has its rivals, h1z1, fortnite, ring of elysium etc... They all use almost the same formula. But no competition for the battlefield. I wish there were so this game genre would improve much more till now. Battlefield is still competing with itself. dont tell lme COD, its just a arcade shooter. I am not saying its bad, but it has nothing to do with battlefield. They just compete on who is gonna sell more first.
I suggest you have a look at "squad", of all the recent games it's the one that reminds me the most about BF2. I hope they'll add helicopters in the future.
battlefield 2 hd pro go to my website it is free and playing just like BF2 but updated my website name battlefield 2 hd pro DOT MOC the MOC is in lowercase and backwords youtube prevents me from posting URLS or anything close to it. I have a server running we play every Friday
Used to love a very old title called Delta Force 2 by Novalogic. I look back on that game vs today's graphic engines and couldn't see how I enjoy those poor low res so much. Guess I had a big imagination back then. ;-)
+RobertsDigital I wouldn't say DF2 was better than BF2, just one of the first online MPs I enjoyed. The graphics and AI and definitely better in BF2 for sure.
+RobertsDigital Another old title I liked when it first came out was America's Army (for PC). The Army did quite a few updates and revisions. I played though version 2.X for a few years. After that, scripts for cheats started to surface so I stopped playing.
+DaytonCarCare You made my day :) My 1st Delta Force Game was Delta Force Black Hawk Down. Too bad people barely play it :( I enjoyed every Delta Force title. Novalogic will never leave my
PR was the shit dude even sometimes I still play the game and the severs are still up, hoping Squad will step their game up. Squad is great I’m not gonna lie it’s not like other games like BF4 COD any of those fast phase fps games. What made me fall in love PR and Squad is teamwork.
I remember back in 2006-2008, me my brother and 4 other friends would go to a computer club (LAN Cafe) every saturday, when we were not at school. We always paid for 3 hours to use the PCs and at least 1 hour (sometimes 2) of those 3 we were playing BF2. I miss my childhood. DICE should definitely make a BF2 Remake for the 20th anniversary in 2025.
Karkand, my trusty M95 Barret, and high ticket server..... I need nothing else. Sure, the crosshair was as thick as all the other scope sights combined, but when I hit you, your character model got impaled into the wall so hard, you felt it. :)
Why not give BF2 a try again? There is a BF2 Revive project currently running, servers are full and gameplay still is the same. You neither need the old CD nor a Key, you get both via the launcher.
One of my dream games is BF2: Remastered or something like that. The old BF2 with a big update basically. Modernise it a bit with stuff like Friends lists, the same maps, classes, vehicles .etc (maybe even more), better graphics and bug fixes. The much harder and more realistic spread/recoil .etc was awesome. I guess the closest I'm ever going to get is CS:GO or Source
Tobias Holtrop And less bugs, and a better community, mods, server owners with a higher IQ than a glass of water, better maps... More specialized classes (like in BF2; spec ops, engineer, medic, assault .etc) Just that kinda thing. All the little things that made BF2 such a classic.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I cant tell you how many helicopters i've watched down as people jump from it too late because of that exact reason. The JOY. Can't say I wasn't a victim of it myself. Wondering why is the pilot aiming me towards the sky as we topple over into a tree, etc.
I started playing battlefield 2 when I use to watch my dad play it and I got interested this was the game that basically started my love for FPS and video games time has flown so by.
I remember that medic actually meant something in BF2, you could be a revive god and actually feel like a bit of a doctor, now there are too little classes to really experience team work.
+GoldenJokered BF2 had assault and medic as seperate classes, while BF4 got the medic merged into the assault class :P Resulting me to always use the BF4 assault as a medic only class, can't even equip a M320 Nade launcher on the assault class without swapping back to the First Aid Pack and Defibs (I have the Med Bag, but I like keeping the push alive instead of getting to a halt because hurt soliders need to "camp" on the Med Bag :P
I spent endless hours playing this in high school, it is easily the most intense love I've ever had for a video game. Glad to hear it mostly holds up. This video was perfect in the way it captured the feeling of playing this masterpiece.

@@hafizlemot So good.
An unwritten rule: two people alone don't shoot at each other at close range, they fight it out with knives. If a third appears, on either team, he waits and sees the outcome. Then he is next.
That was what made BF2 memorable: equals fighting equals
Is Battlefield 2 As Good As You Remember?
Yes.
Yeah but not as good as bad company 2
Use "BF2Hub" for play BF2 online after gamespy shutdown. Search it on google.
Yes but Battlefield Vietnam also holds a special place in my heart

One of my favorite things about BF2 was the sense of progression. When you received a promotion, a medal, a badge, or a ribbon, you damn well knew exactly what it was for and you could actually be proud of it. Today's "achievements" and "ranks" are all but completely disposable.
so true
Battlefield turned into Call of Duty...
Jar Bone true, we only need big maps not small sized maps like cod
Jar Bone battlefield 1 is awesome and totally not cod
BF 1 is just another bad company sequel. does not follow in the footsteps of 1942 or 2. FFS they couldnt even remember to do what they fixed in previous games like the barrel needing line of sight to the target for your rounds to hit them. nope u can now peak just over a barrier with your head and fire rounds into people right through that barrier.

Battlefield 2 is the best Multiplayer Shooter ever. I dont know why DICE & EA sucks now. They should do BF2 with new graphik no extras no attachment shits unlockments etc. and everything is good! This can't be so hard
codebreaker1983 They only want make extra money with that unlockements. But that will ruin the game
codebreaker1983 I think the same
Yes I can relate. It was a lot of fun.
DICE and EA (mainly EA) suck now because their shareholders and executives are becoming exceedingly greedy. There again, I suppose you can also blame the customers that continue to buy into the franchise as they're the ones supporting the openly rapacious company that EA has become. It's certainly not the company it once was.

@@kamilozog2162 where?
Also the two things that i like about this game:

That epileptic browser game felt nothing like BF and I still passionately HATE it for ruining my favourite gaming franchise!

bad company 2
dont get offended but bad company is joke when you compare it to bf2 :D
+SD - Card it truly is a speck compared to this.
Bad Company 2 had great destruction and Rush mode was fantastic, but it was a consolized game through and through. Battlefield 2 and 2142 were both much better games in my opinion, and since they were designed with PC in mind, they shined in almost every single way.
Yup Battlefield 2 was a true team based groundwar game. After BF2142 the series turned into a consolized Call of Duty clone with Vehicles.
And now on bf1 nobody speaks, medics run off without healing people. support players never give ammo, Team mates don't work together. It actually spoils the game
Well running as a medic is equally annoying when people just spam their skip revive button and I end up running back and forth and eventually dead

Let's wait for the Hardline SP before we praise Visceral too much. ;-)
I'd rather want a WW2 game with the frostbite engine. Oh man that would be marvelous.
DICE PLS ♥
BF Hardline was on sale on PSN the other day for $3.47. Long story short, I saved $3.47.
That game is terrible.
LOL! Harsh. Hardline was a decent shooter. Didn't need the Battlefield name on it, but it was a decent, fun shooter. Lots of what they tried in Hardline made it into BF1, people need to remember that
TickTak77 for real, it was definitely inferior to the normal BF series, but the multiplayer rocked.
OctoberHourglass one of the best games ever made
It was probably one of the least buggy and most polished Battlefield games to date.
You shouldn't mention the graphics since the game was released in 2005 (I think) and it was one of the best looking games at that time.
Battle(non)sense Not entirely. It was also for PCs which couldn't load objects in the distance.
rivengle I am not sure what you mean? The dissapearing barrels?
Some PCs weren't powerful enough to handle longer draw distances. BF2 was heavy when it first came out, so...
One of the biggest reason old games seem so much better than new games is our expectation. When you were younger the games were not as finetuned so anything that hasn't been done before with instantly exciting. Games these days are getting less and less unique.
And less good in general .
I remember playing strike at karkand and only strike at karkand over and over again.
NRNS Strike at Karkand, I won'der if this server is still up.
gary dellabate haha yup same here
I was all for Stike at Karkand and operation Blue Pearl ALLL day long and yes, infantry only
Sucks how 2142 is 100% dead, and most BF2 servers are just Karkand 24/7 with 140 ping. I can't get enjoyment out of either because of these problems. However, when I found a populated 50 ping server ONE TIME, it was an absolute blast.
Last time I checked BF 2142 there was 3 servers who were 24/24 no ?
Yasser Dammak I played about 2 months ago so IDK. If they were 24/24, they must have had high ping for me.
yeah lol, me too I'm lucky If I find a server with a not perfect ping but is playable. Gameranger just included support for them so I might try the fluidity of the games there
Yasser Dammak I tried getting back into it a few months back. Hated the constant Detpak spamming due to the weird friendly fire coding that allows whoever threw an explosive invulnerability to said explosive.
There are no servers with friendly fire on ?

"Hey, let's send in a military jet and deal millions dollars in property damage to catch some crooks robbing a bank!"
They should have made 2143. 2142 with frostbite 3 would have been magnificent,
John Kim there are barley any up, but this few servers are still constantly full
John Kim Well, they're definitely working on 2143, I just hope they do it justice...
How I know they're working on 2143:
Crates in some Battlefield 3 maps say "2143" on them.
Grim Games
They're not. DICE is busy working on Battlefront 3, which is why Visceral made the spin-off Hardline. They probably will make 2143 after Battlefront 3, but that means we have to wait, what? 3 more years?
John Kim Both BF3 and BF4 have felt rushed to me. If it needs to take 3 more years to get right I think we should just roll with it.
I miss Battlefield Vietnam, it doesn't work on Windows 10

vietnam was my favorite. i liked 1942 and bf2 a lot but vietnam was so great.

Nade spam was countered by proning and looking at walls. your head hitbox would be in the wall and nades rarely kill you. also AK / M16 > G36 everyday.
you see this guy? This guy fucks. You can tell a good player.
not really countered cause on levels like jalabad it didnt matter if u tried to do that, the wave of grenades and resupplies was just the tip of the sword as the squads moved forward through the city at a sprint. so if u tried that tactic they would just shoot u right away as they moved forward and u had your head in the wall.
not really an issue, have plenty of medic bags dropped around you and position yourself well and you'll be fine. the enemy has to deal with nades too so it's not like they have free rain of the streets.

Which is why battlefront 1 2 and ultimately 3 feel like pale imitations of "What could be..."
I remember that mod. I have some screenshots on my computer of me and my friend gaming it, and some funny bugs happening. :)
+TheBarser Indeed 2142.. oh boii.. the titans.. the Voss, Ganz, lambert and so much more :) oh yeah the walkers..
I'm so glad that i was possible to play BF2 for such a long time. Great game. Today there is no some kind of "magic" in new BFs.
Teamplay, chating, action behind enemy lines...miss it a lot.
try Squad :)
@@gwalchafed or project reality (og squad)
I remember my brother playing this game on his laptop and me giving the locations of the enemies behind his back. Those days are gone now.
SOAT 1 you had a good relation with your brother, if I try to help out my brother he would get pissed off.
@@floydy8359 he was tired of me sometimes too lol
BF2 was the most exciting launch game I ever experienced. So much was going on, had a fun and arcadey feel with tonnes of action and lots of variety.
I agree. the 2 seated jets and the reload system was great
+TheH3dgie the 2 seated jet is it F-18 or F-16? I remembered I took the bomber role. It was one of greatest moments in video game I ever had. I never played BF4, but I also remembered gunner chopper also has 2 seat. The click guided missile on those chopper were fucking awesome.
Oh, and the moment when you promoted. It was awesome moment. All your hardwork, your death and kill count was paid. You rank up to.... Sergeant! From 1st Class Corporal. And you look your teammate are Major, Captain, even 3 Star general lol.
The f18 was the jet, so it must have been the F16. I know the MEC had one too.
+KoeSeer The 2 seater jets were the f-15 and the mig-29 fulcrum I think...
+MPDR200011 You're right about the F-15 for the US, but the two-seater for the MEC was the Su-30. The Mig-29 was the single seater for the MEC.
I still play BF2 to this day. One of the best FPS games!
do people still play it? are you from EU?
Offline. With bots :)

oh that sucks, if people still played it i would install it right now

When EA was a great company.
RunwayIsAwesome They were already a scummy corporate business by this point. They had swallowed up some fantastic companies and either destroyed franchises or just started churning out shit for cash. They did, however, manage to still produce some good games as well.
More like "when EA was smart enough to let developers make games the right way".
So true mostly if you look at nowdays
Oh they were still shitty
C&C Generals and Tiberium wars and BF2...!!! Good times. Anybody who says games today are better is a liar, in particular EA games..
BF2 was the best online multiplayer that has never been replicated.
Great memories of just stuffing around in game and screen capping then uploading. wish i could find the old clips!
"what was it about BF that got lost along the way?"
Console gamers and casuals.
That is your answer.
***** Consoles are generally more casual, generally. By introducing it to more markets you increase the amount of casual players.
Certain old games never become outdated. Star Fox 64, Chrono Trigger as an example, where Golden Eye definitely did.
Ureal Tournament, Deus Ex, CnC Red Alert, CnC Zero Hour? Even more....
Any earlier CnC really. I still love playing Tiberian Sun and modding the shit out of it. Renegade is honestly still fun as hell online even though it was Westwoods redheaded stepchild in the series.
They shouldn't turn off multiplayer to bf2
Kenny McCormick its back online I play it every day

+hardcore4d4 What is that? The original game or a mod?
+Enlightened Tha THIRD I think it´s a bit modded so you can play without gamespy or EA servers, but the game itself is basically just like the original.
Enlightened Tha THIRD it's the original game, it's classed as abandonware so you can download the game for free from that site and play it just like the good old days
I still play bf2 more than bf4
Also let's not forget EA completely dropped support for this game and made their own bastardized "F2P" version that is awful and pay2win.
It's Battlefield Play4Free. I was in the closed beta for that, and like BF Heroes, it was fun in closed beta and then it became completely ridiculous in pricing.
Its dead now but i remember the sniper artillery strike that could fucking destroy every enemy in a 1000km² radius... good times.

Im playing Project Reality.. its easy to download, get started and fun to play. There is a nice community too
IT'S FREE NOW PEOPLE! LET IT REVIVE!
Where can I download it?? I cant find it on Origin..
Google "BF2 Revive Project (BF2 Battlelog)". You can download and play the game for free. The game was taken by a group of devs and kept alive (and updated) ever since EA shut it down.
Thanks a lot! I'll check it out!
Thank you so so so so so so much!!!!!!!!
Or you could play project reality...
Literally just got off this game. Was playing in S1. Crazy this video came out 9 years ago and is STILL a throwback video
Long Live BF2
2016, still playing BF2, join on LAN softwares, GameRangers, BF2 Lan servers
Did you tried battlelog.co? It allows you to join BF2 servers from list (like old times) :)
My only issue with modern BF games (BF1 in particular) - The knife animations take too long ;)
ring ring , zip...... snake ?
Mora Africano Camilo Andres I’m looking for links to get the game is where?
2017
man, anyone who seriously thought bad company 2 was the pinnacle of the series clearly hasn't played many of the BF games at their peak
the demo for BF2 had gulf of oman only and was fully playable with no time limit, that's how I started with BF and ended up good enough to play in a clan later on. Memories of BF2's great moments will never die!
Same here :D
SirDimples I’m looking for links to get the game is where?
Game went off-line 4~ years ago. :(
Legendary Battlefield game. Have had more fun on that game than all of the other Battlefields combined.
True the moments
This is one of the best battlefields
Playing it at the moment, and yeah, damn entertaining XD
It's not one of the best. It is the one and only best First Person Shooter of all times.
where can i get it?

-_-
damn battlefield 1 just came out, and they already have a 2.
I applaud this, I applaud it so others can dawnlaud it.
Rob Fraser thanks bro 🌊
To be fair, I really love Battefields 3 and 4, but I think it's sad how run and gun the series has become, especially with the last two.
Good old days, better new days.
World war 3, looks like it could be a pretty good.
Bf3 in my opinion is the best
@@T1NG0 bf3 was the closest we have gotten to BF2 since but it lacked quite a bit of the charm BF2 had
battlefield 2 hd pro go to my website it is free and playing just like BF2 but updated my website name battlefield 2 hd pro DOT MOC the MOC is in lowercase and backwords youtube prevents me from posting URLS or anything close to it. I have a server running we play every Friday
Used to love a very old title called Delta Force 2 by Novalogic. I look back on that game vs today's graphic engines and couldn't see how I enjoy those poor low res so much. Guess I had a big imagination back then. ;-)
+DaytonCarCare Oh! That was a very very good game! Extremely buggy but fun as hell!

This game gave birth to project reality. Which is the older and more serious brother of BF2
which gave birth to Squad, same developers of pr
Long live PR!
Shame squad feels like it lost the soul of PR, though. Still a blast, mind.
A game that actually lets you care about your teammates? I like that.
RainbowRunner 10 And a game which build around it too. Todays Battlefield is an ego-narcissistic shooter.
Karkand, my trusty M95 Barret, and high ticket server..... I need nothing else.
Sure, the crosshair was as thick as all the other scope sights combined, but when I hit you, your character model got impaled into the wall so hard, you felt it. :)
Those feels ;_; I miss those days man.
Why not give BF2 a try again?
There is a BF2 Revive project currently running, servers are full and gameplay still is the same. You neither need the old CD nor a Key, you get both via the launcher.
LinkoN
I might do that. Espeically since my gaming rig is at work so when I'm on my home PC, I can't play much
BF2 Special Forces was pretty amazing too.. breaching homes with night vision or grapple hooking onto buildings to lay down fire.. oh man the days..
The L96 was my sniper rifle of choice.
+AirCommando12 so basicly a bf3/bf4 with more recoil on the guns?
Tobias Holtrop And less bugs, and a better community, mods, server owners with a higher IQ than a glass of water, better maps... More specialized classes (like in BF2; spec ops, engineer, medic, assault .etc)
Just that kinda thing.

We are losing this battle, start fighting or i'll find someone who can
I started playing battlefield 2 when I use to watch my dad play it and I got interested this was the game that basically started my love for FPS and video games time has flown so by.
Exactly the same, I remember how much faster I got better than him and it definitely made me be the fps player I am today.

I remember hating the hitbox in BF2, but it is still one of the best games ive ever played. But, the best is the one that started it all, 1942.
great game, AI was terrible but I've probably spent at least a thousands hours on that game. My dad still has the cd and case on his desk back home
Yeh 1942 is still pretty damn good... so big and varied.
Still putting a lot of hours into it from time to time. I play in a server that's always active and up to 64 players.
Ever played Codename: Eagle? :P
the thought of 1942 gives me boners
I remember that medic actually meant something in BF2, you could be a revive god and actually feel like a bit of a doctor, now there are too little classes to really experience team work.
+GoldenJokered
BF2 had assault and medic as seperate classes, while BF4 got the medic merged into the assault class :P
Resulting me to always use the BF4 assault as a medic only class, can't even equip a M320 Nade launcher on the assault class without swapping back to the First Aid Pack and Defibs (I have the Med Bag, but I like keeping the push alive instead of getting to a halt because hurt soliders need to "camp" on the Med Bag :P
Man this game was groundbreaking. So much fun. This is the game that got me into PC
