Maintaining a fishpond is not a joke especially the water management. When it comes to regularly cleaning your pond from waste and changing the water, it becomes more serious and sometimes becomes a burden in the part of a fish keeper. Using the RAS method ( Recirculating Aquaculture System), I have been able to maintain a clean and reusable water all the time with my own set-up.
RAS is a system where-in water is reused and cycled more often rather than dumping the bulk of it as waste water. In a RAS set-up, you only discharge and refill 5-10% of the water in a daily basis. But hey! Is it not too much of a waste of water? Yes, its a lot of waste but you are just making sure that you end up rearing your fish in a humane manner and they will definitely live longer.
In this video you will see my new filtration system which aids in converting harmful components in the water like ammonia produced by the fish gills into nitrites and to nitrates which recirculates in the system. Sad to say it will not be enough and I will continuously be troubled of too much nitrates in the water which I cannot control more or less and will be forced to incorporate other components just to eliminate the harmful chemicals that will soon exterminate my fish. For that matter, I am planning to merge another system which is hydroponics or the use of soil less plant culture which will augment in some sort of filtration. The new system is AQUAPONICS. It will be featured in another clip and I hope you'll expect another upload regarding the new system. Enjoy!

Hi there. The pipe near the cam is an overflow at the same time a drain pipe.

Gravity driven. In this type of set up the pump is in the sump tank. From the pond, water drops down to the filters without being sucked.

Hello. Since i use a box type trapond, i installed a vertical pipe below to further collect the waste of the fish and ease in cleaning during water change. There are holes below which the fish cant fit but feces will pass through.
You can also check the previous clips, the trapond build for the design.

Incase po na mamatay ung pump, may chance po b n mapuno ung sump tank kc mas mababa sa sa water level ng tank
Yes meron po chance mapuno xa if and only if maliit ang sump tank. That is why dapat malaki at sufficient ang kalakihan nya para in case pumalya ang pump at humito ang system, ang e tatapon na tubig galing sa pond at filters ay kakasya sa sump at hindi mag over spill kasi sayang ang tubig.

Wala po. Free flow lang.
Sir , ano ang difference sa mechanical and bio filter?
same lng din ba yan sa static and moving bed filter?
Yung mech filter basically works to separate the solids from the water. Yung bio filters naman ay tumutolong para e convert ang ammonia to nitrates. May good bacteria na normally lumalabas sa bio filters as soon as mature na ang system. Yung static kasi at MBBR ay gumagamit ng mga plastic pellets as bio medium at yes nagiging mech din xa as long agitated. Yung static naman na principle ang bio filters mo na nagtata trap ng good bacteria.
Yung beneficial bacteria po ba sir kayo ang naglagay o kusa magkakaroon ng ganon
Bubuo po yung beneficial bacteria once na may biological media po kayo. Dun po sila dadami. No need to add. Natural po yun.

Yes, tama, dahil ito ay through gravity. Tubig kailangan dumaloy at hindi ito magiging epektibo kung walang difference sa height. Pwede naman na magka level lahat pero magkakaiba lang sa output. From 1st to 2nd bababa ang pipe and to third one bababa din going sa sump.

Hi. Ang pump ko is from sump tank to pond. From pond to filter free flow lang po.

It po ay normal na tumutubo sa biological filters nyo po.
You forgot to xplain HOW YOU XTRACT THE SOLIDS FR FIRST TANK?😜
Collected the waste for the first mechanical filter by shutting off the pump first to stop the water flow, siphon the solids inside the bucket using a hose and once liquid is all empty in container i add the loss water to the sump. Note: added dechlorinated water for the loss once.

Hello po. Airpump at submersible pump lang po ang gamit ko dyan. In a months time d po aabot ng 500.

Submersible pump is used in this system. From the SUMP TANK back to the Pond.

You're lacking drainage system in the first bucket. That's easier to collect d solids and clean up d 1st mechanical filter

Hindi yata practical ung system Kuya.sayang ung tubig at pagod mo araw2 para magpalit ng tubig. Gumamit ka ng Atovi, solve lahat yang problema.mo, walang palitan ng tubig, healthy ang mga isda mo. Wala kang lumot sa pond, natural food ng isda, maaksya ka sa feeds, comment lang po. Tnx
Tama po yan. Nasasayang nga yung tubig. Pero nagpalit napo ako ng malaking filtration system at awa po ng diyos mas malimit na ako magpalit ng dechlorinated water. Thanks pp sa pag puna.
