Great Swedish invention. It''s on every machine over here. Can't believe you Americans been living without it for so many years.
Theres a lot of resistance to stuff like this here in the USA for some reason. Cost is definitely prohibitive for some. Id certainly like to see it adopted more here, makes life so much easier.
it's the same as the European sideshift style backhoe loader in North America. I see the odd one around other than mine but 99% are center mounts. I explained it to a few guys and they don't understand it until they see one. When I got mine they came in the yard saw it and said, wow that would be useful on some jobs. Also as everything folds in tight to the back of the machine it roads real nice at speed to without getting sea sick. If you never had something you don't miss it. After moving from the U.K to Canada there was no way I was buying a center mount machine.
It's more common in America now. The U.S. is much bigger than Europe, so it seems like they use it less.

it looks like you would lose a ton of digging force. landscaping this would be useful but for digging it looks to be a bunch of crap in the way. you certainly would not choose this for hardpan or glacial till
Love these things! I used to do dirt work, so I understand what a huge impact this will make once an operator is good with it. I have watched a channel, the lady runs a Menzi Muck with one of those, and just WOW that thing is cool.

When you've been using a tiltrotator for a while you can't live without it. And the claw is a killer attachment to have! I use it to pick up and organise buckets and tools in my trailer, handle pipes, geotextile, pick up slippery rocks that doesen't wanna go in the bucket and so forth. And if you're working in the forest and have a fair bit to your cabin you can open the claw and use it as a toilet seat!
I once saw a JCB 4CX with a tiltrotator using the claw to lift a compactor into a trench the operator was filling up. I must say, this thing looks VERY handy!

The toilet seat is a good idea if your not in the poison oak brush. I keep a zip lock bag of Mountain Money in the cab, when you got to go, why not?
Pallet forks are excellent with tiltrotators.

Just an tip, when you take the tiltrotator off put on a pallet or a hard surface so you don't get so much dirt on to the ec-oil or something that damages the hoses or sensors down there!

This is freaking amazing. Incredible.
Bought one of these a few weeks ago for my Kubota 057. I really like it and it greatly increases the ability of the machine. I also got a Werk-Brau Power Grip bucket with the EC oil and that in conjunction with the Engcon has been a real help with demo and material handling.

Around $37k installed with all the attachments and tax. I think it was worth it, I am able to do the work of a larger machine with it and still get into tight spaces around these infill building lots.

If you have an auto grease system for the whole machine you can get the grease for the tiltrotator through the quick hitch as well

That's an awesome friggen setup I like the direction your going work smarter not harder. Also it combines a few machines into 1 in turn keeping more money in your wallet. That's what it's all about these days there's so many cool toys out there that make these pieces of equipment so much more efficient great vid

Great video, does this setup require more maintenance (cleaning) to keep tilt rotator working properly and the quick oil connecting without being problematic.

Why do you run with extra wide tracks on that machine? I assume you dont mind the extra wear on the sprockets for the stability trade off, and never work on rocky slopes where they would more likely get damaged??

Nice job explaining and congrats on your purchase. I've watched alot of your videos but I dont think many from the start. Curious how a young guy got into running an excavating business. Follow in your families footsteps or just crazy enough to start a business? Keep up the good work I like your vids where you explain technology available to those machines.

Could you still use your original bucket if you set it up for quick hitch or are the pins different?
I could if I changed the coupling system on the bucket. I have a new bucket so the old one is not needed
Thats a cool attachment package I'm just wondering how well will that hyd and electic auto coupling for the services ,work when the rest of that tilt rotator and hitch has got 6000 hours on and some wear in the attach points. Is there some float in that block so it won't be a problem with connectors lining up . I guess for you it wouldn't be an issue anyway as you'd probably be traded by then, But somebody like me's gonna be buying it as a well used machine sometime.

We have been using tiltrotators in our company for like 25 years without any bigger breakdowns! One of our excavators with an Engcon on it had over 15000 h and 10 years on it without any major wear. We just traded that machine in for a new one with an Engcon 219 with ec-oil and so far we are happy with it!

Is a breaker in your future? We have so much rock where I live they are pretty much mandatory on all crews, but I haven't see you get into much rock which is good.
A hammer is on all jobs around here. I'm not sure those buckets would hold up to what our operators put them through. Heck, them buckets we use don't hold up. It looks like there is just too much leverage with that long lip out there and when they get into prying out rock, I think it would break.
But, with a hammer with ECOil, swapping to a hammer would take two minutes so rather than fight rock for five minutes, swap to the hammer, beat it, then swap back.
Also the metallurgy of the bucket may be stronger. Like the whole thing may be made out of T-1. But those teeth would not last out here.
So this thing is available for every excavator of every brand? Because i once saw a JCB 4CX with such a tiltrotator and thought that it was a JCB specific extra.
Available for any excavator and all makes Jack. We have the EC204 Tiltrotator on our Kubota U27-4 (2.7t) mini excavator. In Europe these attachments are very common. Once you've used them there is no turning back!! You can fit road brushes, compactor plates, pallet forks, grading beams, hammers, grapples and asphalt cutters to name a few.

Sure does! If I had an hydraulic attachment on the tiltrotator it would run that
It's getting more common here on the other side of the pond to have more rollers (4 on each joystick) to also control the tracks or wheels/steering, very nice setup, tried it once at the Volvo open day.
Do you think the hydraulics sticking out the side of the hitch would be a problem if you ever have to dig footings and trenches
I dont think so. They dont stick out beyond the sides of the buckets
I always..ALWAYS push the edge of my bucket down to the ground right after a change of bucket to really check its fastend properly.
Ive lost a bucket once because I didnt. That was not cool.
And with the tiltrotor you can just turn the bucket and inspect the locking lugs. It's pretty neat!
@@carlholm7867 ALWAYS push bucket edge on ground to prove the connection. Teach others to do the same, irrespective of tiltrotator or not, its good practice.

This is a cool attachment. I can see a lot going wrong with it though, what do you think about durability? Ballpark price on all this? Also, were you careful in selecting that track hoe for compatibility with the Engon, anticipating a future purchase someday?

These have been around for 20 years in Europe, very well proven for reliability. It cost me roughly $65k installed. No I purchased this excavator 2 years ago before I even really knew about tiltrotators.
How long for ROI on this machine for you? Is this for your business or your parents or both?
I think it will be paid back in 1500-2000hrs of use. This attachment should last the life of this machine and the next one it goes on if I take care of it. I own the John Deere, its for my excavation business

Intelligent equipment attachment for modern machinery !!!!!! Hello I am a operating engineer , inventor ! / Patten and traid mark owner . I have a idea for a attachment . A broadcast grass seed spreader . one side holds a hopper for seeds . spin it around and it holds a bale of straw and a wood chipper on bottom grinding and spreading the straw . a attachment for wheel back hoes , track excavator and for a skid steer , maybe . I have worked and did all kinds of excavating and home owners are the worst !!! I would use a wood chipper on my straw . The straw would decompose quicker , meaning I did not have to go back and rake up the straw !!! Hope you like my idea $$$ I am 57 years old now and man I didn't like manually changing buckets all the time your quick connect is a great product .

Why are u americans so afriad of new stuff? The rototilt has been around fore over 20-25 years here in europa. Here in Norway you probobly wont find a machine without it. It makes the job 10 times simpler than without it!Indexator has been around in north america a long time..

mallemann 87 største problemet er vell det ikke er amrikanere som har funnet det opp. Men tipper det begynner å slå ann over dammen også etterhvert. Fantastisk oppfinelse. Kommer aldri til å ha en maskin uten selv hvertfall 🙂

Take the tiltrotator off and hook the hammer direct to the machine using the quick attach. I would buy a hammer that worked with the quick oil system. Ill never put one on this machine but that is how I would do it if I did.

Sure does. Breakout force decreases a lot. Thats one of the reasons I get the tiltrotator so it was removable. Need more digging force, just remove it

It"s so much better ´than just a standard bucket
So I've been kicking the idea of one of these for a while, but really have no close dealers. Can you use your existing buckets on the quickcoupler and use theirs on the tiltrotator? How hard can you actually use one, I'm not talking abuse or demo work, just hard trenching in rock or compacted soil? How much roll and power loss do you have with it if any? I see the benefit for sure and have always liked the idea but they aren't exactly on any machines in Western Oklahoma.
Yes you can use your existing buckets but you would have to change the coupler system on them to be able to fit onto the engcon coupler. You can use it just as hard as if you didnt have one on. It will dig rock and hard ground no problem. You do loose breakout force because of the extra length the tiltrotator adds but is not that much. It is a super useful attachment and every time I use a machine that doesnt have one I think... I could do this so much faster with the tiltrotator.
There is a standard for the coupler so it's fairly easy to find the measurement for them and make your own coupler on the attachments or just have a local firm make them. I'm sure if you as Engcon or Indexator for the measurements they will supply it too you. They are called S** where the star is a number related to the size, unless they have gone with the new standard but i doubt it.
If you have the correct size for your machine it should take all the forces the excavator can exert on it, the issue is if you start to use it in a leaver type way to exert more force by example rolling the bucket on a rock with the front of the bucket exerting the force on another rock for example as that puts a lot more force on the tiltrotator.

So it's basically $1k/month for 5 or 6 years? Who is the note through? Its very cool. I would have guessed it would be faster, but not struggling with hydraulic couplers is a game changer. I would maybe explore some sort of ideas towards sponsorship with Engcon towards other attachments in the near future as your videos and publicity will really be doing a lot for their new North American operations..
It is faster, the machine was never turned up from minimum throttle.
Well said, I'm sure it's one of those things I would imagine you dreamed about as a 10 year old running machines as did I- and now it's a reality. Kind of like dreaming of having the internet in your hand, which all of a sudden became very real ~10 years ago with the invention of the smartphone. I struggle with swallowing the price, as do others- but obviously if it didn't pay out, Engcon wouldn't still be in business.....there is an obvious benefit.
It doesn't have to be faster. Once you use it in actual work you mostly only correct the bucket to the level and tilt you want it to be. Or you tilt/rotate bucket in the same movement as you reach out, for example.

my kubota and case dealer sells them for $1,300 for the mini excavtors and $2,100 for huge excavators for 100% every brands

Engcon has been aroun for over 25 years in Europe. They just enterd the US market.
Dirt Ninja rototilt brand started in 1963 just seems really similar even can get grapple option like that for it are they private company or own by someone?
Rototilt is made by Indexator, Rototilt patent was bought by Noreco and Noreco was bought by Indexator, which is the original Swedish company. Encon and Indexator are the two biggest companies. Rototilt is a trademark and it's there for called a tiltrotator of every other brand. There are 5 Swedish manufacturers of tiltrotators that I know of. Steelwrist is the third largest I think. Just something else to get messed up by dirt .if you are a deasant operator you'll spend more time digging and less time wiping dirt off those hydraulic couplers. I will take a well matched bucket and thumb any day over this Swiss Army Knife
Or you learn how to dig with the actual bucket and not the dipper/attach point.
