    I think the message we get from ALL of this (who knew there was a theme?) is that if you truly care about a comic book character and his/her universe, never leave the book... or never look back! Whether it's Ditko or Dixon, you strive your heart out setting up a universe that seems so real, with all these supporting players and villains, and then it goes to somebody else to whom these are just a cast on a book they've been assigned.

    Love the “Birds of Prey” World War II inventory story. I wish DC would at least publish that in an annual. Lito Fernández
    was the perfect artist, and I loved your and his work on the 1990s Apple Comics series, INVASION 55,…Yes, I’m old!👴

    I love that art for BOP WW2, amazing stuff and idea
    And yeah, Westerns can be set anywhere in late 1800s frontier, no matter where it is. But Yojimbo and Fist Full of Dollars were both adaptations of Dashiell Hammett's fantastic book Red Harvest. Its been made like five times into movies but never the original story.

    The Good, the Bad, the Weird, 2008, South Korea, is flat freakin' AMAZING. I don't see how anyone could come away from that movie not a Song Kang-ho fan (he plays "the Weird" of the title). That guy can do anything: martial arts, physical comedy to a Buster Keaton level, drama, and he makes a hell of a psycho, come down to it. And who doesn't love a guy carrying two Walther P.38s in a double shoulder rig? Which, by the standards of the day, was not at all a bad way to go, and actually a pretty trick setup.

    Of all the answers to my question, I never expected that you had nothing to do with the costume change! Sounds like your involvement consists of setting up the reveal (I believe Oracle sends her a package) and then the artist came up with it. There probably was a lot of discussion, but it's interesting that the writer is not involved in that.

    I've been reading all the Spider-Man comics from the beginning on Marvel Unlimited. My impressions:
    1. Amazing Spider-Man improved after Ditko left.
    2. Ross Andru was the best Spider-Man artist ever.

    Do you think Stan came up with the lasting phrase "With great power comes great responsibility,” or are there hints in Steve's earlier work to suggest it was his?

    • @wtk6069
      @wtk6069 2 роки тому +3

      I'd say even if Stan Lee wrote that particular phrase, and he did have a grandiose way of turning a phrase, it's probable that Ditko came up with the idea behind it because he came up with all the other ideas. Tweaking the finished text in just such a way is one of the editorial inputs we know for sure Stan had while working with Ditko and Kirby in particular.

    • @michaelhorning6014
      @michaelhorning6014 2 роки тому +3

      I would doubt very much Ditko came up with that. He was an Ayn Rand disciple and Rand rejected the idea that individuals owed anything to others or to society in general. That phrase is classic Stan Lee. In fact that could have been part of Ditko's dispute over the direction of the character. Lee was constantly have Peter agonize over his responsibilities and shamed by his failures.

      @@michaelhorning6014 Minus the famous phrase that was probably added by Stan, the actual story told in Amazing Fantasy 15 is pretty Objectivist friendly because Peter didn't stop the crook and was personally punished by his uncle being murdered, teaching the moral that he should have stopped the crook for selfish reasons if nothing else. Lol
