    It's more like Misuzu is saying "You never played with me with what I wanted to do" and she's being petty with how she says it.

      i just came to realize tomboy's aren't born to be with boys its just how they were raised with only male role models growing up and never see the side of female things.

    Nah Misuzu isn't feeling left out, she's just a Grade A shitstirrer of the highest caliber. She's pretty much a troll but the best type of troll, trying to get her two friends to actually get together while amusing herself in the process.

    It's not about "bad advice" or "stay who you are". Remember the context.
    "Jun seems like he cannot see Tomo other than being a guy friend"
    So with that context and "for the sake of the story", of course they're trying to make her act more feminine to see if Jun really acts differently. You try to change the variables in your life.
    Tomo not changing anything, will just keep the status quo.

    • @digitalyoutuber154
      @digitalyoutuber154 Рік тому +14

      Plus, Tomo's request is kinda unfair anyway. She wants Jun to see her as a girl... while not doing anything to change her image. She's still slugging him in the face and being a bro to him while expecting him to see her differently. It'd be like if a punk came up to a nerd and told him to stop treating her like a delinquent when she's still smoking and skipping class.

    I think you were under the impression that Jun treating Tomo as a guy was an expression. Well, it's true but it's also literal. Jun really thought Tomo was a dude until he saw her in a skirt according to the flashback.

    Jun is a little bit more complex than You think, he is kind of relatable to some extend, won't tell how because of spoilers. Of course since it is an anime there are some details exaggerated for comedy pourpose. But Jun grew on me as the series progress.

    Admit that the first episode is a bit of a misdirect on what the entire show is like... it's just setting up the main cast (except one VERY important lady). I do not want to spoil you accidently, so I'll leave you to explore it... I really hope you enjoy it as much as I have the last few weeks! Thanks for sharing your reactions!!

    5:45 - I wouldn't call this boy talk, guys don't tend to talk about their girlfriends in that way with other guys in my experience. However, the reverse is true with girls. A lot of women seem to be perfectly fine talking about intimate details about them and their partner to their friends, and don't think much of it.
    It's a very insensitive double standard

    At least I would think so.

    Great stuff, I watch you on my fire tv, love this so much had to come here and say thank you.
    As a bilingual American, I am having trouble with some of the translations in subs along with the spoken word. It can be distracting to cringe, as it is hard to accurately inflect sarcasm and emotional pauses to written text. The relationships are very well done in this anime. I have not seen the English dubs of this anime, but sometimes the dubs can be more representative of the emotions and intentions of the characters then poorly done subs.
    Like the anime, Komi and Dress Up Darling, do a very good job of dubbing the emotional weight of the dialogue/ sarcasm/ flirting, then written text can. Yeah, some of the dubs are just wrong, but so can the sub translations.
    Great series, and enjoy your reactions.

    an important thing you should take into account is that this is japanese. Its not your culture, or value system. Some things they say dont exactly translate well into english meaning. For instance, when her friend tells Tomo to "speak more politely and less blunt, more feminine", she means ACTUALLY talk with whats essentially the famale version of their language. Tomo talks as if shes a man.

    I like how these days anime's you can relate to it. To be fair the black hair girl is right tomboy's are only that way from how they were raise and than taught that's how girls are when they didn't have a good female role model to look up to. I think that's why parents should be focusing on kids on their own gender personality. Like mothers should be with the daughters more fathers should be with the sons more. But sadly in the parent dynamic its mothers and son and father and daugther and i also get that dynamic relationship as well. As the mother can teach the boy how to handle girls and the father can teach the daughter how to handle boys. Also guys do get those question from people when the guy be friends with a girl for to long to the point you don't see each other as romantic but other people do it happens. But both do have to change in order for both to realize the love they have for each other.

    Japan is still quite traditional when it comes to gender roles and how society views femininity and masculinity that's why they bring certain things up in the show even though western cultures don't really see them as being an issue

    I'd give this the 3-episode rule, not least because one of the funniest characters arrives in ep 3. I think it's gotten better as it's gone on, giving more nuance behind Jun's obliviousness and being... less aggressively heteronormative. I've had a fun time with it; hope you do too!

  • @DigitalAlucard
    @DigitalAlucard 7 місяців тому

    To clear up confusion for you, the guy is clueless on the fact that Tomo is a girl. It's not really about him treating her like a guy but understands she is a girl, he literally thinks she is a guy. I'm sure you already know this by now but I'm pointing it out just in case you still didn't pick up on it.

    Just for context, in Japan, there's still a divide of what a girl and a boy should be. In other countries it's kinda odd, but they actually follow the societal rules. Anyone who's pretty odd, is either gonna face isolation, and for adolescents, they might actually face bullying (teenagers all over the world are the worst bullies). So to take the easy route, they follow the "societal rules", it's not unique in Japan, but it's more prevalent there. Though it's great that there's shows like this that breaks the barrier.

    • @maestrokame
      @maestrokame 10 місяців тому

      You can agree or disagree on following social rules, but to call it an reasy route... Such a simplistic analysis ignoring the whole historical an cultural background.

    • @YoonriFluffy
      @YoonriFluffy 10 місяців тому

      @@maestrokame it's called easy route for a reason. You don't have to deal with people's judgements and prejudice. The hard part of that is your internal struggle. For those who live in this environment, it's easier to follow as it will not block your progress at school, since you don't have the struggle of not wanting to go to school. Not everyone grows up with a thick skin, and not everyone has a home that is supportive of individualism. This environment of following societal rules often starts at home as well. It's not easy to be a rebel. deru kugi/kui wa utareru. It's their belief for conformity. Slowly, it's broken down now. Sooner or later we hope, not only in Japan, but everywhere, this belief will not happen anymore.
