I know this video was made a while ago but I do know that the bore of a 110 and 125cc engine is the same, however the stroke is shorter on a 110cc. If you would use a 125cc cylinder on a 110 case without changing the rod, you will have really low compression. If you tried to use a 110 cylinder on a 125 case, you would destroy the engine as the piston would hit the valves.

Hello I'm sorry to comment on a old video. I have watched this video many times and its inspired me to upgrade my daughter's 125 atv and build a 125 for me. I have a few questions. I opened up her 125 and have looked up parts and numbers to get this built going. I think you coved it in the comments but I just want to confirm. if I have FNR trans can I do a 321NR ? I would like to keep the reverse instead of the 4 speed. Second it has a automatic clutch. Will that work or should I swap to a semi auto clutch ? I can't find much info about it. In my head a automatic clutch should still work but looking up parts they seem to be completely different. Thanks for the help

Nice info here. I have a 110cc with a forward only wet centrifugal clutch. I noticed my transmission is just a semi auto without all the guts! I am hoping that i can get all the internals and convert to a 3 or 4 speed semi auto. Should be possible if i get the side case or even bore the shift shaft hole myself? Sorry i realize this is getting older now, probably tired of answering all these questions 😅 it would be nice to have a pull start like the old hondas too without sacrificing the electric start
@@elektric-ok3qoif I'm understanding you. yes. I believe the centrifugal clutch is interchangeable with a manual wet clutch.. you will need the clutch, the shit lever shaft, the side cover for the manual clutch and of course a cable and clutch lever
If the head says 120cm the you have a stroked out 110cc to 125cc. Nothing you cam do to make if faster. You can't put a 54mm piston in it because the syud spacing is too close. Always make sure your head is stamped 124cm. That is a true 125cc 54mm bore engine.

Sorry didnt see this for some reason. Yes you can swap. The engine was F-N-R. I swapped in a 4 speed. But yes you can swap in a R-1-2-3 teans set. It will fit right in. And yes, The left side case can be swapped for one with no electric stater moun.. And yes... You can swap cylinder and piston to 125cc. Just swap piston, cylinder, base gasket and head gasket
I'm tryin to go the other way believe it or not for my wifes z50 based gorilla clone. I need to get rid of her semi auto 4spd and make it a basic fully auto/cent clutch style. Only difference is hers has the starter on the bottom, wonder if the guts are the same on the trans side?

Yes i removed the reverse idler and replaced the gearset .. Thats really all there was to it.. Now its a semi automatic 4 speed. 1 N 2 3 4 Before it was R-N-F.
@@Seccheus sorry man. Didn't see this reply. Yea you can use the R n 1 2 3 trans. You just need to leave the reverse idler gear in the engine. But you.need to use the reverse idler gear that goes with the R-N-1-2-3 trans set
Depends on the engine. There is 2 different styles. A short stroke 125 and a long stroke 125. Yes those engines use the 110 cc piston with the longer stoke to get 125cc.. the short stroke engine, uses 2 different size pistons. Here check out this link

Yep thats what ya need! And ive found E-bay and Amazon good for parts.. but a quick net search for pitbike parts will usually find a place fairly local that can get them ordered in.

Definitely a gear problem with either the mainshaft, countershaft, or reverse idler gear, inside the engine. Youll have to split it open like i have in this video to find the problem

I do have a quick question, my nephews taotao 125 atv , is a 3speed w/R , he messed something up in the tranny and 2nd gear causes some kind of problem in the gear box where it is an aggressive "tick" . He wants to fix it, which led me to your video, now he just wants to upgrade to a 4 speed w/R and I have to ask.... Is it just a parts swap? Do I need to buy a different side case for the 4 speed to fit , or is it just a gear swap? You didnt disclose that info really, or i must have missed it. Hes never worked on anything and i have limited knowledge so if you could provide the juicy details of the swap, that would be awsome. Also, point me In The direction of where to get a 4 speed gear set, that would help as well. I just want to know what I need to buy first so I dont make him wait any longer than nessacery. Hi all just a question I have a manual engine with a starter anyway the starter has failed and I've ripped all the electric out so can't be bothered to fix it any way the left side of the pitbike engine case has a starter mount there and it is blocking the carburettor air filter from going on I was thinking could I get a left side of a pitbike engine and put it on with kick start flywheel and stator plate so the starter mount won't be there in asking as I can't be asked to buy another new engine as this engine is in good condition
Yep. Sure you can man.. all the parts are interchangeable. If you got a kickstart case set and covers you can totally convert it. I'm in the process right now of converting a kickstart motor to kick and electric start.. you just need the cases

Nope. This motor still has it semi automatic clutch.. And the semi auto shift shaft. They are weird the way they work The action of the first part of the throw on the shifter is actually depressing the clutch! Then as you keep lifting on the shifter with your foot the second half of the throw shifts the gear.. Its like a two in one action of the clutch and shifting

Question for you. I have a 3 speed manual clutch 125cc and want to know before I take it apart, can I convert it to a 4 speed by adding a gear such as I have to replace the gears in our taotao 110. I have had it apart 3 time already and finally just ordered new gears for it. It is a 4 speed set up. Since it is a 2015 model, do you know if the set up is the same so I can just buy the same gear set for the 125 Roketa made in 06 and install it and then have a 4 speed like the 110 model? I prefer not to take it apart if you happen to know ahead of time that what I am wanting to do is not going to work. The engines look the same as far as case, head etc. but just not sure what or how it is made on the inside as to why it didn't come as a 4 speed in the beginning. ANY and all advise on the matter will be greatly appreciated. Also, since I am replacing the gear set that has broken teeth on 2nd and third in the 110, is it possible to just use the 4th gear from the damaged set and simply slide it on the shaft to create a 4 speed in the 125? I know it is a lot of question but advise to the best of your ability. To add, I owned a mechanic shop for 20 plus years and am very creative when needed to make a bracket etc. to make it work or machine something to get it to fit. Thank you in advance for your insight. Should work just fine. They are all the same inside. Just take the 3 speed gear set out and replace with the 4 speed... in this video I've replaced a 2 speed gear set (f-n-r) with the 4 speed gear set (1-n-2-3-4)

I see that the internals of one motor I have has a star and the 125 3 speed has a semi star with a flat side on it instead of being a complete star shape as I have seen in videos. Will it need to be changed so it WILL go into a fourth gear or will it automatically be able to shift to a fourth gear based on the design it came with? Just not wanting to do this and have a 4th gear that I can't use due to the star on the shift fork not being correct. Thank you in advance for your advice on the matter.

You will need a seim auto clutch, and a semi auto side cover, and you will need the semi auto shifter shaft plus the clutch depress linkage that goes with the shift shaft. You can see in my video the difference between the 2 shafts, and the 2 clutches.. There on the table in the background

Yes. You need some things.. First a kickstart shaft.., A kickstart retainer and bolts and definetly a kickstart side cover as it will have the hole already and seal in it. And of course you need the kicker itself. It l a bit complicated but it can be done.
Oh of course! It works great. Now its a 4 speed semi auto.. Thing rips now compared to the old R-N-F setup.. F is pretty much like a halfway gear.. Like between 2nd and 3rd.. So with 4 speed setup it rips..
Easy peasy.. lol. Grab a rm85 engine and swap in.. ok ok. So thats not so easy and youd have no reverse.. i cant remember if the lt80 had reverse. Or was it forward only. Hmm. Maybe an rm85 swap is in order 👌👍🤙

Yep. Youll need the gear set (R-n-1-2-3) and the shift forks to go with it.

Yes, you are correct. It is still semi auto clutch. The transmission gearset was from a manual clutch engine.

They are clones of Honda engines. There is a very good chance it would all swap over?

U took the reverse idler out so that the Manuel gears would fit.
Took me a while to figure that out.

No such gears as a 4 spd w/reverse. Only 3spd w/reverse or 4spd fwd only.. but yep its just a gearset. Can get on ebay

If your 125cc has a 52.4mm piston then it is a 110cc engine with a 55mm stroke

Should be virtually the same as this on inside less the reverse gear... Swap in a 4 gear setup and your good to go
