Excellent tutorial. The per brush stroke refine edge strikes me as very useful. Also the magic brush looks useful for the "mask what you don't want and then invert the mask" technique.

Just started using Capture One since I bought a Fuji XT4. As a Lightroom user I am fairly impressed. Very nice to have this new Magic Brush tool. Appreciate your video which helps me get up to speed using it. I look forward to any C1 videos you may end up doing.

Thanks for the video. Around the lighthouse it is very clear to see the editing -Lighter sky/clouds, despite very large contrast difference. Is this the best result possible with the magic brush tool? This result is not usable for paid jobs. Is it not possible to see the effect of different Refine Edge / Tolerance settings without having to do trial and error? I'm curious because I'm thinking of updating my v.12 to v.21 / 22

I think I actually referred to it once, in the video, as the "Perfect Brush" lol.
What is the difference between the Magic Brush and Magic Wand in Photoshop ? (which has been a part of Photoshop for ages)
Sadly, Capture One's magic brush is unusable on any large image from the Sony A7R family of sensors. It took five minutes to create the mask on a very simple selection that Photoshop can calculate and select in real-time. This using a fairly new 27" 5K iMac i9 with 64 GB RAM and the Radeon Pro Vega 48 8 GB.
I love Capture One but it is poorly optimized in many areas. Just one more example; reading a memory card that has many images already imported. Even Apple Photos can almost immediately show those that are already imported whereas Capture One chugs away for minutes reading each image before finally showing what hasn't been imported yet. It is really painful.
Five minutes? That's a bug with your machine. I'm working with an A7R III and it creates the mask within seconds.
Works just fine on my A7RII images. Very quick.
