Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another first time reaction made possible via PATREON wth GO WEST and their song " We Close Our Eye." My handy man Peter Cox brings out his rugged side in this video, and lores me in with great sound and vocals. This 1985' song has all the bells and whistles of a great 80s hit. See my react now!

Peter Cox has one of the best voices ever recorded. I wish more people knew and appreciated him. Go West was one of my favorite 80's bands, right there with Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys. The 12" remixes of their songs are incredible, and I have most of them. For further listening: the fantastic Don't Look Down, Eye to Eye, Call Me, The King of Wishful Thinking, and I Want to Hear It From You. Go West are superb!!!

And the singer's voice is just amazing. They actually had a number of really good songs.
Go West are still going strong, 36 years after this was released. Peter has an amazing voice and he's a really nice guy, I've met him lots of times. Saw them a few weeks ago
This Eighties gem flew under the radar back when it first came out. Their big hit was King Of Wishful Thinking from the Pretty Woman movie and soundtrack
Ironically I'd heard this dozens to hundreds of times before I ever heard King Of Wishful Thinking 😅

Peter Cox is the lead singer here. Dude's voice is great. He had a solo career too, with a song called "Ain't Gonna Cry Again" really standing out and showing his vocal talent.
They also had a song on the movie Pretty Woman soundtrack called "King of Wishful Thinking".

According to go west the video was made more difficult to be made. Because he was either greased down heavily to make it look like he was sweating. Good song though I remember it well and I'm 60.
Feel so old remember it first time around. Think you should do lots of 80’s songs. Keep well, keep hold of your bananas!! ( if you need any help I have safe hands).

I loved them! Still do. They were bigger in the UK than the US (unfortunately for me,) but I used to track down all of their import 12” singles. “King of Wishful Thinking” would later be a huge hit here.

Call Me is their other standout song. But yeh these vocals are powerful !
Now that video has def aged well with special effects!- + their debut hit album-Go West is one of my favs!

If it wasn't for 'The King of Wishful Thinking', this would be my fave Go West song.
The club mix of this was huge back in the day. It contains a lot of stuff that was edited out of the radio mix.

Check out Call me next, and the vieo to that one has def aged well-surly you will agree on that one!
So they had a minor hit in US with this one-but they did have other hit singles ones that were hits in the US-shame they had no hit albums there though but did in other countries!

Great video, thanks! The music video was directed by Godley & Creme, formerly of 10CC, who were big names at the time. It was Go West's first single, and therefore first video, so they didn't have an image at this point. Godley & Creme dressed them both up in lots of different outfits and shot test footage, and it was the "sweaty vest" look that the record company staff liked best! Go West never did anything as good as this again, but Peter Cox is a fantastic vocalist...

I remember this song, with its almost Nintendo sounds in places. Have to say bit dated but the song and singing carry them.

You need to hear Faithful and Don't Look Down and their cover of Smokey Robinson's Track of My Tears.
Back in the day, I called these guys Wham with talent. This album was amazing.
Now try Curiosity Killed the Cat.
First heard this song in the Italian horror movie Demons.

No it was not the same guy. I saw them live in '85. Unfortunately they came and went very quickly. You should try reacting to "Call Me".

I prefer "Faithful" from them. A moderate hit in 1992.
I liked this in my teens but now… no. It sounds like a pretend pop song for a band in a movie about pop stars forced to do things that are not their true art or vision lol.
