    I've been watching Tahnee for a few years now. A couple of things stand out. Her authenticity to herself for starters. Why can't a MTBer wear pink? Tahnee has shown that colour does work for riders. It's fun. Her honesty about her injuries is incredible. I really enjoy the "How we roll" series. So much support in that team. Also, it really did highlight the long hard and often dark road back to recovery.
    I can't remember the race, but Tahnee was waiting to see who was going to win. Her absolute delight and joy for her friend winning the race was so lovely to see. it didn't matter (much) to Tahnee that her friend beat her, it was just pure happiness for her friend. Wonderful.
    This long form podcast was good. You can explore in depth more ideas and get a deeper, more thoughtful answer from your guest.

    Tahnee is the epitome of a well-balanced influencer; she knows she can inspire, pull weight within the industry; for others as well as for her own betterment and/or for financial gain but doesn't abuse the position... it a very fine line.
    If you look up the term 'affiliation motivation'. This is a greatest example of mirroring opinions and an agreeable manner that I've ever noticed in an interview.

    Please do keep the long form films alive! The Pilot and Flying Scotsman were great and as someone fairly new to the MTB racing world it was so nice to see.

    The Amauri Documentary was fantastic. I cried a bit! Spoke to Tahnee at Worlds and thanked her for highlighting her concussion symptoms with pure honesty. This needs to be at the forefront of safety in the sport. I also put the transponder on her bike. Her bike is sooo sick!
    Met the Pinkbike dudes. Fantastic team!
    Yeah, commenters on the internet are nuts. I got really p off arguing with them. Negative nannies. Let them stew in that negativity and don't absorb it yourself.

    She introduced pink to MTB?!?!?
    Literally a website that gahs been around before she could ride.... Called Pinkbike..... Not mention in the early days of Freeride..... Plenty of dudes rode pink bikes... Because the saying on the shore was. If you ride a pink bike you better be fucking badass....
    Also..... The 90's MTB scene.... Nuff said.

    So hit the mark with the long-form stuff.
    I had this podcast interview open in a browser tab for 2-3 weeks before I finally got around to listening (started yesterday and finished today). Took that long, mainly because I didn't want to have to break it up too much.
    Also did the same with "The Pilot". By the time I got around to watching it, Amaury was back on the sidelines with his current (quite serious) injury recovery. So, it was, at times, quite a sombre watch, indeed. Still great viewing.

    Once again a great episode!
    Touching on many of the topics you two talked about a discussion-style podcast with Tahnee and Emilie Siegenthaler would probably be really interesting. Mainly thinking about the image women in the sport had back when Emilie switched to DH and how they are percieved now...

    This is such a good podcast, the host's values and Tahnee as a female inspiration that doesn't need to sexualize herself in order to have attention on fame ! Her skills are insane and is really cool to listen to her as well as her thoughts overall in the sport etc. We need more women like her, Casey Brown, Georgia Astle, Marine Cabirou etc that represents what a women actually is and not what the media and machos and other females out there consider them/themselves to be. I'm also glad that there's more and more women in the sport, here where I live at the moment I'm the only one, so sad !! Anyway, 100% agree on only fans sponsorship, again, it's not a conscious thought at all from the guys or the industry. Doesn't bring any good neither fit and has nothing to do with biking ! Wtf ! And ofc if it would be a women being sponsored it would be a hole other story. I wish ppl would get more conscious about their choices and start valuing and respecting women for what they are. That mentality is fucking far behind, needs some fucking progress !

    There is a slight irony in talking about OF being addictive and harmful for young people while wearing a Red Bull hat...

    • @davewillisporter
      @davewillisporter 11 місяців тому +4

      I don't get what the problem is with Red Bull. It's just like having a coffee with sugar. Not my bag but quit the hate! Look at what they've done for sport and recognise the efforts they make.

    • @driten123
      @driten123 11 місяців тому

      @@davewillisporter Sure, but the difference is that this "coffee with sugar" tastes like candy and is pushed on a young audience. I've never seen a 12 year old down half a liter of coffee with sugar in one go. Yes, they do a lot for this and similar sports, but it is not a coincidence that they are involved in activities young people like.

      Red Bull is problematic, and if we are honest even more than OF. Why? Because it is pretty unhealthy and market as a sports drink. I _uses_ athletes in extreme sports and push them and hide if some of them die - there is a whole doc about that. The Austrian founder was pretty conservative/right wing, but dies recently… And on the other hand they did a lot good for the sport and they support athletes a lot. So, I think RB is not per se good or neutral. As like OF is not. My personal take is: the bike industry is running with so high margins, they are supposed to give more back to the sport and a wider spectrum of athletes. And the UCI? Don’t get me started… Finally, it is all about business…

    When people reply to the 'What's the best MTB film' I'm always surprised they don't mention A Slice of British Pie. I know it's not from the good old days of DH, but it's the one I've watched the most!

    Is the pink team you're think of MucOff? Regards bikes/components, SantaCruz have had pink in their colour schemes for at least 3 years, Chris King and Industry 9 both have pink anodized options. I wish Hope did though, they need to catch up...
