I'm so glad that this popped up in my YT feed right between two nauseating "Election Results" videos. My mental health is already better after watching this. In fact, I am going to escape back to the 70s for the next few months. No more main stream fake news and other garbage. It's so soothing to live is a fantasy world.
I grew up during these MTM sit-com spinoffs. I like to look at the air dates and figure out what I was doing at the time as a fun pastime. I had just started 7th grade when this aired. I was probably doing homework when it showed, pre-algebra.
Both women were beautiful when this show was taped. Each in their own way. Unfortunately, one chose plastic surgery instead of growing old gracefully. I’m sure she has regretted that decision ever since. If only we could accept ourselves as we are, the world would be a more beautiful place.
Emily Edwards The writers had to adhere to strict moral codes concerning certain issues and dialogue because this show was aired during family hour during the mid 1970s in America.
"Ma, I don't need any 'meat money'!" Love this show so hard now, I want to cry when I watch it! How did we become such an ugly society and move so far from this more witty and loving time?
The foreshadowing was clear from the inception: Joe was divorced and had no desire to remarry; Rhoda was lovely but insecure and transparently needy. It could never work.
Coincidentally both these actresses would go on to play Jason Bateman's mom in different tv shows during the 1980's. Caren Kaye played Jason's mom in "It's Your Move" and Valerie Harper played Jason's mom in "Valerie".😅
Lovely to see this. I used to love Rhoda and the show Valerie did with Mary Tyler Moore. She will be sadly missed, seems like a lovely lady. The show has aged well. TFS
Rhoda looked sensational in this episode. Ida was hysterical in this episode. Joan Van Ark (Knots Landing) looked awesome too. Brenda ( The Simpsons) is so funny too and the only one who is still alive from the Rhoda cast. RIP Valerie, Nancy, and David!
Don't know why Rhoda is insecure after meeting the ex-wife. She's WAY better looking than Marian. Funny, I know Valerie Harper's name, but I can't think of the name of the actress playing Marion. Joan Van Ark. Just watched the credits.
There’s a fundamental disconnect between the insecurities of a character like Rhoda, and the fact that she was played by a really good looking woman, Valerie Harper. You just have to go with it and pretend that Rhoda/Valerie isn’t beautiful.
Many beautiful women have insecurities. Many have hang ups about their looks just like regular people. All people have their problems. The emphasis on looks in society is way too important for all of us.
Rhoda is just as gorgeous as Marion, Joe one lucky guy...only now luckier with Rhoda, yup...much better match, Rhoda's more relaxed than his ex, I can see Marion driving Joe right up the wall
I still can't get over Valerie Harper passing away. RIP, sweet little angel. You will never be forgotten.

@@msr1116 Nancy/Ida's force majeure strength of character was a "quicker picker upper" that fast wiped the counter with the liquefied remains of her k.o.'d adversaries. My favorite Nancy Walker quote is "what 'failure'? You either do a thing, or you don't."
JudgeJulieLit.....Ida was a petite -sized mob enforcer of the Jewish mother kind. LOL. I hope she earned well doing those Bounty ads.
@@msr1116 Transistorized TNT ... likely she also cleaned the Bounty counters' timeclocks, to get her commercial royalty bounty.
That's the fabulous Joan Van Ark of Knots Landing fame!
Take a bow, Einstein
@@steveprice448 why be a prick?
I wonder how many more UA-cam channels I'm going to find that are uploading Valerie's TV show because she passed away, this was a wonderful idea thank you for uploading this, she was a great actress and she will be missed
Rhoda was my favourite show all those years ago, I never thought I’d see it again so funny
I'm so glad that this popped up in my YT feed right between two nauseating "Election Results" videos. My mental health is already better after watching this. In fact, I am going to escape back to the 70s for the next few months. No more main stream fake news and other garbage. It's so soothing to live is a fantasy world.
My exact thinking! Amazing how much life has changed for the worst.
Yes, this video feels like a rose among thorns. 🌹
My wife still has a whole mess of 70's clothes. I want her to dress as Rhoda for Halloween.
You do why????
Oh!! I need to come meet her for....coffee, yes, coffee. I wasn't going to say closet raid, really!
I love Rhoda's clothes! She rocked that head scarf like no other!!!❤
Fab idea. Take lots of pics!!
The theme song always makes me smile and sing along with it. Great cast, great fun. RIP
Nancy Walker is hilarious!
Annette Mercer she was great on McMillan and Wife as well!
Love Carlton your doorman
Always loved him too.
The sad part of Joan van Ark started to have a facelift as she got older and her looks never got better.
They could've been nicer to each other. Still, they were way more cordial than people these days would be to each other!
Emily Edwards The writers had to adhere to strict moral codes concerning certain issues and dialogue because this show was aired during family hour during the mid 1970s in America.
Just another reason I would never get involved with a divorced man.
i love valerie harper,,,her and i had cancer at the same time,we're still both around, yay!
Praise God!
R. I. P. Valerie Harper
Yeah.....really.....
Shes passed
"Ma, I don't need any 'meat money'!" Love this show so hard now, I want to cry when I watch it! How did we become such an ugly society and move so far from this more witty and loving time?
Answer: the Eighties happened. You know, that wonderful time when greed became “good.”
It's been the "Me" Generation. The answer is that we're living in what the Bible calls "the last days." Deep.... now in the time of the end.
@@revolutionaryviews9702 even the 80s were a huge step above what the world is now. People were still way more civil and less “ready to throw down”.
@@zimjun7 I’m afraid to ask what comes after the end. I wish it were reversible.
@@revolutionaryviews9702 Wow did you hit the nail on the head regarding changes in the 80s-- been downhill ever since.
Love Rhoda's mom! ♥️
The foreshadowing was clear from the inception: Joe was divorced and had no desire to remarry; Rhoda was lovely but insecure and transparently needy. It could never work.
No wonder Joe did not want to marry again, after that horrid woman..
RIP sweet talented Valerie, the only character on TV at that time that was relatable
Wow I use to watch this show it’s one of those blast from the past shows I really looked forward to.
Rhoda is drop dead gorgeous!!!
The world needs more Rhoda, Ida and Brenda! And Carlton!
I enjoy this show just as much as l did 50 years ago…so funny! My sense of humor🙂
Rhoda reminds me Bethany from Real house wife of New York, lol, the way she talks and the way she looks too
OMG, YES!!!
Valarie Harper was much prettier.
So happy we in the UK got to see this fantastic show.
⚘🕯RIP beautiful lady🕯 ⚘
This takes me right back to my childhood
boy is this posted loudly, cool but didn't expect it thank you
Such a blessing to be able to watch this….many thanks❤️
I didn't know that Rhoda was a spinoff from The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Yea Carlton is one funny guy even when he says dumb things to mary
To Rhoda not to Mary. Carlton is usually drunk.
Don't know why Rhoda is insecure after meeting the ex-wife. She's WAY better looking than Marian. Funny, I know Valerie Harper's name, but I can't think of the name of the actress playing Marion. Joan Van Ark. Just watched the credits.
That happens a lot in shows where the main girl character is insanely pretty but she's jealous of another girl. Yeah, I don't get it.
I don't think she knows she's pretty, or maybe she does. I'm missing something, no for real. Maybe she's not jealous...
Marian isn't special looking at all. #notbothered
It's Val(erie) meets Val(ene)!
2 Val's.
Those were the days !! I loved Rhoda 😄 Rest in peace Valerie ❤
A three letter word for a table scarp is "ort!" Hope that helps, Carlton!
RIP Valerie Harper
I used to watch this show with my mom who also fell in love as if we knew these characters in real life. 💖
Julie Kavner (Brenda) now Marge Simpson (voice).
Janet Griffiths OK
Yep, yep...
And Lorenzo Music was Garfield.
And?? She's had the role for 30 years, most people know that information.
The woman that played her mom was HILLARIOUS!
I watched her show from start to end, loved it, she will be missed.
Rhoda is just as gorgeous as Marion, Joe one lucky guy...only now luckier with Rhoda, yup...much better match, Rhoda's more relaxed than his ex, I can see Marion driving Joe right up the wall
They're both pretty, but Ms.Valerie is more of a natural beauty :)
Best comedy shows are from the 70's !!!!
Best shows period.
