    minor criticism here, being a person that grew up in Dubai, i can guarantee that all that was built of the backs of modern slavery (the exploitative kind not ownership kind, they "technically" have salaries)... its amazing what Dubai has built for itself, but heartbreaking to actually see how they achieved it

      Also, UAE is known as the hiding place for Russian oligarchs and UAE hasn’t put any restrictions to Russia since the beginning of the war. This is literally a country that violates so many human rights, is a horrible place for women and builds all these things with slaves. Yeah man idk. Promoting Dubai, Saudi Arabia or Qatar nowadays feels like the most misleading thing to possibly do. When it comes to human rights, female rights or just the complete lack of empathy towards poverty, it ends up beeing the last country I want to give my money to by a long margin. Yes they are building amazing cities out of the desert, but nobody wants to know how, at what cost. It's the most instagram friendly place in the world and they know it, but if you take a step back and see the towering pile of slaves and destroyed natural resources to get there, you truely do NOT want to give any slack to these countries. I have nothing against any normal citizen from there though. Let me make that clear.

      It’s ironic to see people from Western countries talk about human rights. Talk to any person living in the country (and I say living NOT visiting) and hear their voice instead of getting your information from news or mainstream media. As a foreigner in a western country myself, a lot of people here are brainwashed by their media about countries outside their own & show no willingness to learn from or even talk to people who actually live in those countries.

    • @thedarkflowkiller
      @thedarkflowkiller 2 роки тому +20

      @@Jojomojo202 I lived 12 years in Jordan and Israel, I also had to go to Saudi Arabia a few times in the 2010s. I am not saying this because I read some article somewhere on the internet. And I am not a reddit troll that stayed behind his desktop all his life. If you ask ANY environmentalist that actually knows his stuff from Dubai they will always say the same thing. Go listen or read dozens of interviews of people that worked and gave their lives to build a freaking football stadium for westerners in Qatar. And when they were done with their work they went back to their slums with barely anything paid to them. Not everything you read is true, but what I stated up there is FACTS. You don't need to be a victim of rape to talk about rape. Just like I don't need to be a worker in Qatar to talk about human condition and rights.

    • @DBT1007

      Rather than talking about Arabia, maybe u need to see India.
      India is far more dangerous. Like.. even if the female following the rules there, they still have a big chance got abused or even can lead to death.
      In Arabia, as long as the women follow their rules, the female are fine. At least it's like that. Unlike in India.
      And some Arabia rules on genders are good actually. Like.. separating the room or seat place for male and female. It's extremely good to reduce the chance of sexual harassment or stuff like that. or d3ath sentence for child mol3ster or something like that.
      Arabia only bad in the slavery thing. Yeah, the execution thing is not the biggest problem there. It's the slavery thing. Not really slavery since they're paid. But the working condition is like slavery

    Reading all the comments about how UAE shoul not be yet praised for bulding "The future female" reminded me of a story from a female compatriot (From México) who was sentenced in Qatar to suffer 100 lashes just because she demanded justice from a rape that ocurred to her from a Qatarí citizen in the same country.
    My point is, yes this countries are growing fast and have money to show but are not perfect when it comes to human rights, i know my country is not perfect but hell i don´t go out and sponsor that everything is Okay. Don’t you think saying the UAE put an emphasis on women is kind of purposewashing? There are still laws for male guardian authority and loopholes for reduced sentencing for men for killing a female relative.
    „a woman in the UAE can still lose her right to financial maintenance from her husband if she refuses to have sexual relations with him without a “lawful excuse“
    The law does not criminalize marital rape. Yes they are going in the right direction but I don’t think they are ready to be praised yet.

In dubai if you are a citizen then the government will give you a house and job and money if you are verging homelessness. Does america do that? England? and now onto the human rights nonsense. I can walk alone in the streets without looking behind me, i won't be catcalled while walking alone, in universities and start up incubators they have programs for women in the workplace and assitance in developing business. In addition, the UAE was the first Middle Eastern country to have a woman as the head of a Bank.
    I understand there may be a tainted vision of womens rights i the ME, but don;t just assume that Dubai falls within this. I have so many wonderful female role models to look up to living here, and I wish you could all experience the same. Of course the issue with underpaying the lower working class is something that should not go unnoticed, however the life everyone builds for themselves here individually, separate from the government, should not be looked down upon when having the UAE in mind.

      It’s easier if you have money but totally possible if you don’t.. I traveled 18 months, 3 continents sleeping in nice places, being able to pay for adventures, starting from nothing. In the rich countries (like Netherlands, New-Zealand) I worked and earned a lot (there are lot of opportunities and scholarships like the work/travel visa in Australia and NZ), in some countries I worked for shelter and food (through wwoofing but there are other sites too) or couch surfed, and in the poorer countries I spent the money I earned and loved like a king :) meanwhile I started to work online just a few hours from beaches and trips :) it’s possible, first just Google how other people do it or look up some work+travel visas, now I have two little kids so I travel a bit differently but would totally do it again it was a trip of my lifetime.. I also volunteered in Africa where the organization took me so there were no fees I gave my two hands and willingness to help and they gave the trip, food and shelter.. most organizations ask for money, but still, it’s possible to find solution to everything if you don’t have the amount.. go! :)

    I really like some transparency on why you guys went here specially? Was it an offer from some UAE agency? I understand that this channel is a ”feel good” channel, but I also feel they do ignore the controversial side of things. Just watch some Vice documentaries. To name one dark side of Dubai (UAE); it's a known safe haven for many international criminals. Only if there is really bad publicity or political pressure, the UAE sometimes cooperates on extraditions (Ridouan Taghi to name one), but normally they don't care as long as you spend money there. By going to Dubai and making this video you effectively ignore all the other problems as well (pointed out by other commenters) It's like going to Moscow and do a piece on ballet there (beautiful and unique) but ignoring there is a war going on.
