I have to say, I have not found a more satisfying and clarifying definition than this video! you have just made one of the pillars of Glaser’s (Classic) Grounded Theory so much easier to comprehend! TS can take researchers months and years and a protracted lull period to finally figure out.. I suppose you need to go through it, let the concepts ‘emerge’ first and be sort of ‘stuck’ and voila, a eureka moment (like this video here), so you can then pick up from where you left off. thank you Sir ! 😊😃
youre more than welcome, Sir. when I got the time/braincells to spare, I will check your other videos for tips on rendering qualitative data into publishable material, to move my study forward as Ive been anxious to publish also due to the prodding of my boss. I also found Prof Charmaz‘s writings thoroughly engaging and show in-depth mastery of GT-I mean no doubt about that. She was also kind enough to send me some newer paper she wrote with update on constructivist GT. However I was mainly guided by Holton and Walsh’s book published by Sage when I was doing my thesis (and I graduated because of it yay!), and I mean to revisit the final chapter about their views on publishing GT research, from an orthodox GT paradigm that is. They proffer that GT research is geared towards writing a book on a novel concept-although Im not aiming for a book. The promise was, if done well, I can pick up a GT research from where I left off, and sort of help shape the research into its final form. Thank you and more power Sir!

I think because doing so captures the action, or “what is going on” (as codes) in a straightforward manner (as opposed to perfectionism) when the goal at the get go is to generate as many codes as you can for comparison, and thus let concepts and higher level categories emerge, which basically are the building blocks of a grounded theory
