Join the Moosehead Lake Divers Facebook page for more information. in the photos section you'll find all my log entries from back in the 1990's. Also talk to Matt. Kane, skipper of the Katahdin. he's a diver and knows all the wrecks, good luck.
Kind of irritates me stuff like this was never taught to me growing up here in Maine. The schools seemed to think talking about our culture and history was criminal or something, you never heard about any of it in the 90s here. I had to learn about this stuff from a logging museum or I'd of never know at all, and I've paddled on kayak just about every part of Moosehead, and that's a LOT of parts, over a lot of time. Can't even tell you how many lbs of chinese mystery snails I've pulled out of there, a ton.
Oh wow I was there a couple of years back It so happened that moose hunting permits were going to be raffled the next day after I was there and Greenville was jumping with people I took a boat to an island in the lake called Keneao or something It is a beautiful place On the drive back I even got to see a baby moose Its a magical place Native Americans lived there The island I visited has a flint mountain and I was told you can still find arrowheads around the lake I just loved it
Love it. Diving one of these wrecks is definitely on my bucket list. I live right next to Moosehead.
