This is a killer strat just wish Fender would reissue his black strat with the Dimarzio pickups and big headstock to me that’s the guitar I always remember him playing
I’m totally agree with you. It’s a nice guitar this Mexican sunburst signature and it does its job completely. But I hope they will bring back the original American 57 strat with Dimarzio. It’s unfair that when it was on the market 10 years ago, I didn’t have money to buy it, and now that I could afford, it is out of stock for the market 😭

I saw it in the fender shop up the road. It stood out from the rest they had on the shelf. I loved the pearl pickguard and the natural wood finish. It really stood out in person.
The first time I played a Hot Rail, around '86, I thought it was a mini Bill Lawrence 500. Quite a powerful little pickup. I put one in my strat so I didn't have to play my Les Paul which was backbreakingly heavy. It made my strat a lot less stratty, and that was the point.

I built mine .. sunburst fender Strat.. added the pickups.. just normal wiggle stick.. added shiny pick guard.. love it.. but I still suck at playing..ool
Damn I want this guitar so bad - even though I've got the Jackson SL4X (with 3 Duncan Designed hot rails). Maybe it's because I'm a big Iron Maiden fan, maybe it's because Dave Murray is maybe my favourite guitarist, maybe it's because the sunburst looks badass... maybe all 3.
What a versatile sound monster. I couldn't bring my self to sell what I have to get one. But would be nice to add to my collection. But will have to stay on the hanger for moment.
Great video! I’m looking at adding this guitar to my collection. I have to say though, EVH was probably the original hot roddy guitarist to start modifying Strat style guitars with humbuckers and the Floyd Rose. 🤘
I briefly owned one of these a few years ago but I sold it because I wasn't getting along with the Floyd. Its a really nice guitar but changing strings and trying to tune it and lock it down to where it stayed in tune was exhausting. Dagan, I like that you used a Blackstar, which Dave has been known to use from time to time.
Awesome guitar, I think I will save 300-400$/€ and go with the Player Strat polar white with black scratch plate with a HSS configuration and Floyd Rose, on that guitar you have like a recess slot under the bridge so that you can also pull out the trem arm a bit to also get the higher pitch which I like. I will go with the classic hot rodded setup and put a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and then go with a Fender noiseless "single" in the middle and then in the neck I am thinking about going with a Seymour Rail just like Dave has, awesome pickups. I am not sure what Floyd systems are in these player guitars but I am pretty sure it is the Floyd 1000 original which is what you really want and not that Floyd "special" imported system that breaks.
I have a custom shop Strat that’s looks almost identical to this without the Humbuckers and the Floyd Rose, but I’m about to buy this as I’m playing Dave’s part in a recently forming Maiden tribute band. Was hoping Fender would release a new signature version of this but in white and walnut neck that he’s recently had made for him but doesn’t look like they will.
I had one of these years back, I wish they did a USA one like they do the Jackson USA Adrian Smith. I mean it’s an original floyd rose, USA Seymour Duncan’s, mine was 2 piece alder body which was made in the corona factory and it’s legit out together in Mexico… it’s basically USA so I never got why they didn’t just make it USA which is a total gear snob thing to say I know but yeah £899 I payed and an original Floyd rose and the pre wired Dave Murray signature are that pretty much alone without the rest of the guitar it’s a steal really
No. THE MOST hot-rodded guitar from the 1970s was the Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat assembled by Eddie himself (R.I.P.) who was not only The Guitar Legend but also a truly talented technician and experimenter. Period.
The opening song sounds like a Battle hymn on crack ahah. If it wasn't sunburst i might seriously consider buying this.. I might buy the loaded pickguard though, Dave's lead tone is my absolute favorite
Anyone know how Dave Murray uses the middle pickup? I've thought about putting this set of pickups in my Mexican Standard but can't see myself using anything besides the two Hot Rails.
