- Meet the celebrities and famous personalities you never knew were from the star-studded Chembur area of Mumbai. Before Bandra, Chembur was the Beverly Hills of Mumbai. Needless to say, Chembur was the birth place of Hindi cinema.
My daddy Iqbal Singh Sethi came to Chembur in 1969 after retiring from Navy. He live here till his last breath 27-11-2021.
Thanks for adding Daddy's name, he was a celebrity indeed, he had a big hand in developing Chembur. If this small correction could be done, of Chembur boy.
He has fought 3 wars Goa Liberation War 1961, China War 1962, Pakistan war 1965.

I have fond memories of Chembur where I grew up. As Vidya Balan says, Gupta bhel was our favorite joint in the seventies. The other one was Sadguru pav bhaji. Saroj restaurant was also great. Hat's off to all the Chemburkars. 👍👍. Mrs Viswanathan
Daddy's name has been immortalised, Daddy Iqbal Singh Sethi lives on forever. He is a celebrity, Daddy's name has appeared in the second last clip of "Celebrities From Chembur" You Tube Channel. Remembering Daddy on his 4th month Death Anniversary. God bless the Soul🙏
Late Raj Kapoor's bungalow, RK Studio, Diamond Garden, Presidency Golf club, old Basant Cinema, Chembur Gymkhana, Ambedkar Udyan and Sandu Garden are the famous landmarks easily known and identified by all Chemburites both past and present.! 😊

My name is Yashpal Mehta, a Chemburite and an OLPS alumni from the first batch of 1957. I think you missed out Poonam Shivdasani wife of Shatrugan Sinha and also Devdutt Patnaik.

Raj Kapoor family are originally MATUNGAITES. They were staying in R.P.Masani Road, (parallel to Aden wala Road) near Khalsa College & famous VJTI. Many more actors were staying in R.P.Masani road.
Again Chembur is a place, for these actors and actresses, to stay till they become famous or prosperous and thereafter for exhibiting the above qualities shift to Western Suburbs of Bandra, Khar, Versova and now Powai etc
Mumbai has bad food , please agree.
