"Don't Let Go (Love)" is a song by American R&B group En Vogue. It was written by Ivan Matias, Andrea Martin, Marqueze Etheridge and produced by Organized Noize for the Set It Off soundtrack (1996), also appearing on the group's third album, EV3 (1997). The song was the band's last single and music video to feature band member Dawn Robinson and was En Vogue's biggest international single, making it to the top 10 in several countries. According to Billboard, the single ranked as the 83rd most successful single of the 1990s.
The song compelled Elektra mogul Sylvia Rhone to place En Vogue back in the studio to record their EV3 project for release in 1997. While the other group members plus the record producers and label executives were focused on the new En Vogue album, Dawn Robinson wanted to pursue a solo career. Forced to choose between the group or her solo project, Robinson decided to leave En Vogue for a recording deal with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records. The turn of events following the success of "Don't Let Go (Love)" was the beginning of a long and tumultuous era for En Vogue as member changes became quite frequent. NME ranked the song number 127 in their list of the "150 Best Tracks Of The Past 15 Years" in 2011.[1

HARMONIES ‼️This ladies can sang. One of the few girls groups in which everyone was allowed to be a lead singer. En Vogue brought the vocals, looks, fashions and attitude.

Definitely supergroup! Vocally the most talented girl/ woman group of all time imo and they had the beats and jams, videos, looks, too. Love En Vogue.

Definitely my favorite group of all time - Funky Divas is a perfect nickname for them. Supremely talented, fierce, classy, sexy, everything.

I heard this as a very young child and i was completely obsessed with it. Probably one of the songs i heard the most in my life, My Dad loved En Vogue as well so we shared that. One of the best songs i ever heard. This song was absolutely massive in Germany at the time, i think it was everywhere, they smashed with their soulful delivery of a soul rock ballad hybrid. Amazing.
Set It Off worked similarly with me, i was obsessed and watched it sooo many times. Queen Latifah was robbed of an Oscar nom imo. I dare anyone watching that movie and not crying!
Empress, if you're a movie fan and haven't watched the movie, go and see it! 90s classic and so underrated.

.. ***ENVOGUE TRIVIA TIME!!*** ..don't let go, it's goooood....
    - ....The tune was to go more in the direction Dawn wanted to take her solo career (a more live / 'Rock' feel, with 70's R&B flourishes).....
...The tune was thought to be the 'last' single by EnVogue EVER, which was why it was added to the "Set It Off" Soundtrack; The Girls weren't even supposed to go into the Studio (for "EV3") because Dawn was to do a Solo Album FIRST....
    - ...THEN, the Group didn't work out complete contract negotiations for returning, and BOOM! ...Dawn's outta the Group, around the release of "Whatever", Summer 1997....
    - The Video was filmed by Matthew Rolston (who LOVED these Girls!!), Maxine looked her BEST here (after losing some weight), & the tune peaked at #2 Pop (but, a HUGE #1 R&B track), January 1997...wanna see?
    10. Fly Like An Eagle (from, "Space Jam") - Seal
    9. It's All Coming Back To Me Now - Celine Dion
    8. I'm Still In Love With You - New Edition
    7. Mouth - Merrill Bainbridge
    6. No Diggity - BLACKStreet (w/ Dr. Dre)
    5. I Believe In You & Me (from, "The Preacher's Wife") - Whitney Houston
    4. Nobody - Keith Sweat (w/ Kut Klose's Athena Kage)
    3. I Believe I Can Fly (from, "Space Jam") - R. Kelly
2.***Don't Let Go (Love)*** - EnVogue
    1. Un-break My Heart- Toni Braxton (7th week at #1)

Dawn Robinson, who I followed on IG, is an amazing vocalist. And it's a shame that it was the last song she did before she left. But the original version of the video had Mekhi Phifer, who was in Soul Food (the movie) and 8 Mile, playing a true ladies man with the members of En Vogue

They are all 10's. There is not a weak member in this group... the original 4. This group would still be on top of the world if they could work out their differences. No other girl group comes close to En Vogue talent wise.

Yes, this song is on the soundtrack for the movie, Set it Off. By your reaction to that info I'm going to guess that you've seen that movie. So this song plays in Set it Off for when "Frankie" get involved with that guy from the bank.

the problem i dont understand is why haters hatin on the remaining members (Cindy & Terry) because they kept the group alive. Meanwhile Dawn is living in her mom basement broke as a joke at nearly 60 years old today. 🤷

@@umamizaddy no one hates on them that I know of, just not interested in the group's music. It didn't grab me and the chemistry doesn't resonate as it once did. Dawn may have problems but that has nothing to do with how I viewed the music after the group became EV3 or whatever it is.....
