Hardened shelters are expensive. In 1999, a hardened shelter [HAS] for a single aircraft would have cost the USAF $4 million, and this would not have included the cost of building hardened shelters for aircraft spare parts and other equipment, command and control etc. At that time, the likelihood of a direct hit was minimal. Nowadays, the liklihood of a direct hit is very high. The HAS is at a fixed, easily identifiable position. Satellite surveillance enables aircraft movements in and out of shelters to be monitored.

Soviet/Russian designed planes work very differently that Western Designs, and this is part of why you do not see shelters built. The Russian design places an emphasis on the ability to operate on and out of a primitive airbase. Actual air intake while taxing is not under the aircraft wing, but above it. This has the very large advantage of greatly reducing debris that can be sucked into the engine. Western designed aircraft need a pristine airfield in order to operate. We walk the entire runway twice a day, looking for the smallest stone or stick, because that can destroy our aircraft. A disadvantage of an above wing intake, is getting enough airflow in a restrictive space, such as a protective shelter. This was not seen as an issue with design, because it was assumed that satellite surveillance would allow any attackers to know which shelters were being used and which were not, and that would be true for both sides. If the satellites were knocked out, then the Russian designs ability to operate on less than pristine airfields would give them an advantage. The Russians, in this war, could build taxing devices to move their aircraft in and out of shelters, and the Ukrainians do not have satellite capabilities, but the Russians are operating under the assumptions, that the US and NATO are providing this satellite capability. Remember, even without drones, there is no airbase in the Ukraine where the Russians are not constantly keeping it under satellite surveillance. They would know which hangers are occupied and which are not. Each side keeps pulling their bases farther back from the front, because both sides have become very good at shotting down incoming cruise missiles, so attacks on the airbases is more effectively done by drones now. As drone technology, and especially armament, improves, the game of moving airbases will become increasingly common. Each side is taking actions when there are improvements in tech.
Weeb isn’t talking about hangars. He’s talking about aircraft shelters which would cover individual spots on a flightline. They do work, and the US used them (and still does) on OCONUS USAF bases. The idea that drones, at least in 2024, are constantly surveying every airfield is nonsense. Perhaps that may be the case in the future, but not now.
You forgot to mention Two trains carrying Ukrainian military equipment were hit by Iskander missiles in the Zaporizhia region, about 50 kilometers from the front line. The first train was hit at the station in the village of Ukrajinka, and the Russians claim that it was carrying American M113 vehicles, BUK-M1 anti-aircraft systems, BMP-1 armored personnel carriers and trucks. The effect is significant given that the composition is affected. @@mnk9073 It's not unlikely but even if it does happen, it wouldn't matter. That's like throwing a handful of rocks at a fully armored knight and expect to do damage.
Because satellites have to orbit and don’t have live feed The drones provide quicker intel they knew that they were using those jets to drop HAMER bombs on Volvchansk so they were tracked locked and clocked immediately
I gave that some thought, Weeb, and my take is that the fighters are hidden when not in use (not sure where, but obviously not in hangars, as you're getting at). But they have to eventually surface before attacking, and for that short time they are exposed, so they look like sitting ducks even though lots of people are prepping them, and they are sitting ducks at that time, but only for a relatively small period until they take off. So, the high-altitude drone footage tells me that the airfield was being watched, likely for hours, until enough fighters had surfaced and were being prepped for flight, and then WHACK!
Finally someone with a brain you’re damn close to figuring it out but they’re actually tracked returning from bombing missions and then hit You can’t simply land a jet straight into a fortified shelter for some reason people can’t comprehend that they must first land at an airfield
anyone know where the good people of these villages and towns are as the fighting catches up with them to become front line , are they staying home or fleeing

Weeb re plane shelters: yesterday I heard of the Japanese find tech that prevents cameras to see through infrared. I suppose planes can be seen "though walls" as the tech we already have. Zo, we musta speaka to the Japanese!
Hardened shelters are essential to protect air assets. I concur with you entirely that both sides have little regard for husbanding their expensive planes and this is criminally insane!

You should consider that they *are* building shelters - possibly disguised as other buildings - and that the planes being struck are decoys deliberately placed to attract attacks. I'm not saying that has happened every time, but the use of decoys has been extensive. They also may have been relying on the fact that the Russian recon drones either couldn't travel that far or that air defenses were previously shooting them down.
They have shelters and no these jets were tracked returning to base after dropping HAMER bombs on volchansk What you’re suggesting would only work if you just never used your aircraft which is dumb You can’t get around the fact that if your bombing the enemy they now know you have birds high and you have to return somewhere they wait for them to land and blow them up
RF uses variety of missiles/drones to strike UA key infrastructure, basically they use anything what can fly, less useful pieces as distraction to overwhelm anti-aircraft/missile/drone defenses
Because we know they were actively bombing with French HAMER bombs in that vicinity earlier in the day Which means they were pulled out of shelters into active combat
Reason for not having shelters on airports is Soviet military doctrine, that use the airspace of Warsaw pact, for preventing incursion at Ukraine or Russia airspace. That make the building of airports cheaper inside former USSR territory, and it is obvious that neither Ukraine or Russia did not modernize or change the same doctrine, leaving airports extremely vulnerable to direct attack not only in mutual conflict, but in any future conflict with any other state or organization.
Complete nonsense The reason they aren’t in shelters is because they were actively flying bombing missions earlier that day. I don’t know if you know this but you can’t simply land a jet into a fortified shelter they have to land then be towed in They’re tracked after returning to base then destroy with missiles shelters would not make a difference anyway because they watch them land and those missiles are built to penetrate bunkers
1. It takes time to build solid shelter for the jets. 2. FPV drones are watching airfields for a long time before confirming the location of jets and the call ISKANDERs to do the job.
They do use shelters but these jets were actively flying missions dropping French HAMER bombs They’re tracked on return to base and you can’t simply land straight into a fortified shelter

Zelensky is worse for ukraine than sadaam was to Iraq
I mean sadaam care about his country power . zelensky care about money . he is a jew after all . they are all the same
Talking about reconnaissance, does not Russia have satellites for that purpose?! It is weird!
Excellent updates and analysis, thank you Weeb
Did the warships come through the Bosphorus recently?
Yes
It's not voosh code, it's pronounced like 'was hot', where o is pronounced the same way as in the exclamation 'oh'.
Thank you.
Superb
Macron prepares with Bardella their triumphant arrival as a liberators in Vladivostok...
Thanks :)
Thanks.
Seems like a good analysis 👍
"Fortified positions" have lost any meaning after the arrival of FABs.
No matter how many times Denyes (Denys denies) spelled "game changer", Russians finally showed him what it means. He can't stop crying.
Well not really FABs are air fuel burst bombs (which is why they don’t hit buildings directly it would waste the blast wave)
Not only that but their range isn’t great enough to reach the jets
Missiles work just fine
The no shelter thing is perhaps due to the massive manpower shortage?
It would imply that the Ukies don't even have enough pilots for the few jets they still got while they are publicly whining for dozens of new jets...
@mnk9073, it's very obvious that Ukies won't be flying the Nato planes.
@@yangerjamir0906 Let's be real, NATO pilots haven't been shot at since _Desert Storm_ and given that they would now face a proper enemy bristling with AA and considering that it costs 6 million dollars to train a single pilot for a 110 million dollar plane it's highly unlikely we'll see any foreign pilots in foreign planes over Ukraine any time soon.
@@mnk9073 It's not unlikely but even if it does happen, it wouldn't matter. That's like throwing a handful of rocks at a fully armored knight and expect to do damage.

Hi weeb do you think you could talk about russian tactics and strategy? Thanks
Aggressive Attrition.
How it is possible russian satellites didn’t had the intel of all ukranian militar airfields and needing a recon drone?
Because satellites have to orbit and don’t have live feed
The drones provide quicker intel they knew that they were using those jets to drop HAMER bombs on Volvchansk so they were tracked locked and clocked immediately
Its not kalinia its kalinina
I gave that some thought, Weeb, and my take is that the fighters are hidden when not in use (not sure where, but obviously not in hangars, as you're getting at). But they have to eventually surface before attacking, and for that short time they are exposed, so they look like sitting ducks even though lots of people are prepping them, and they are sitting ducks at that time, but only for a relatively small period until they take off. So, the high-altitude drone footage tells me that the airfield was being watched, likely for hours, until enough fighters had surfaced and were being prepped for flight, and then WHACK!
Finally someone with a brain you’re damn close to figuring it out but they’re actually tracked returning from bombing missions and then hit
You can’t simply land a jet straight into a fortified shelter for some reason people can’t comprehend that they must first land at an airfield
Excellent! Thank you for your time & effort! As your knowledge of this conflict has grown, it has helped my understanding. “Have a great day” Weeb!

Where in the Black Sea are these ships? Because the naval objective might have more to do with Lebanon, Syria and Israel rather than Ukraine.
Good

Not K-a-l-i-n-Y-A but K-a-l-i-n-i-N-A
maybe the jets are decoys
The Yemenis have USUK bombing decoys of all kinds.
Please also describe in kilometers the fresh areas captured by Russia
You've missquoted Fighterbomber, but that's ok.
anyone know where the good people of these villages and towns are as the fighting catches up with them to become front line , are they staying home or fleeing
Makes you wonder where all of the soviet era reinforced concrete aircraft hangers went?
Perhaps previously there were too frequent vodka parties in these empty shelters?
head nation of the West has a couple of ships which have entered the Black Sea.
Чел понял проблему России, которая тянется, чуть ли не с основания государства
The battleships could be to protect their flanks and it gives any "enemy" entrance close to them to become a legitimate 🎯. It's an idea 💡 it doesn't mean a "start" of an offensive.
Weeb re plane shelters: yesterday I heard of the Japanese find tech that prevents cameras to see through infrared. I suppose planes can be seen "though walls" as the tech we already have. Zo, we musta speaka to the Japanese!
may Allah help rusia
Hardened shelters are essential to protect air assets. I concur with you entirely that both sides have little regard for husbanding their expensive planes and this is criminally insane!
Because you don’t understand that these aircraft are active in flying missions they’re then tracked and destroyed because they have to land at an airfield then towed to a shelter
You cannot land a jet straight into a fortified shelter it has to land at an airfield first
That small window of opportunity is when they’re hit
Notice these jets were hit immediately after a day of extensive bombing missions in Volvchansk dropping French HAMER bombs
New old front
Comedy gold
You should consider that they *are* building shelters - possibly disguised as other buildings - and that the planes being struck are decoys deliberately placed to attract attacks. I'm not saying that has happened every time, but the use of decoys has been extensive. They also may have been relying on the fact that the Russian recon drones either couldn't travel that far or that air defenses were previously shooting them down.
They have shelters and no these jets were tracked returning to base after dropping HAMER bombs on volchansk
What you’re suggesting would only work if you just never used your aircraft which is dumb
You can’t get around the fact that if your bombing the enemy they now know you have birds high and you have to return somewhere they wait for them to land and blow them up
K
The boats launch cruise missiles? I thought the planes were launching them… less risk?
RF uses variety of missiles/drones to strike UA key infrastructure, basically they use anything what can fly, less useful pieces as distraction to overwhelm anti-aircraft/missile/drone defenses
@@delawareK thanks for this explanation 👍
The ships have Zircon hypersonic missiles for high priority targets and can reach the north of Ukraine

How to be sure the aircrafts are not dummy aircrafts to trick the enemy ?
FPV drones confirmed the target before the strike.
Because we know they were actively bombing with French HAMER bombs in that vicinity earlier in the day
Which means they were pulled out of shelters into active combat
Reason for not having shelters on airports is Soviet military doctrine, that use the airspace of Warsaw pact, for preventing incursion at Ukraine or Russia airspace. That make the building of airports cheaper inside former USSR territory, and it is obvious that neither Ukraine or Russia did not modernize or change the same doctrine, leaving airports extremely vulnerable to direct attack not only in mutual conflict, but in any future conflict with any other state or organization.
Complete nonsense
The reason they aren’t in shelters is because they were actively flying bombing missions earlier that day.
I don’t know if you know this but you can’t simply land a jet into a fortified shelter they have to land then be towed in
They’re tracked after returning to base then destroy with missiles shelters would not make a difference anyway because they watch them land and those missiles are built to penetrate bunkers
Wow early for once
👍Yes, I too have wondered why neither side use aircraft shelters . Also, don't they use dummy aircraft to misdirect enemy fire ?👍
1. It takes time to build solid shelter for the jets. 2. FPV drones are watching airfields for a long time before confirming the location of jets and the call ISKANDERs to do the job.
both sides use all kinds of dummies and inflatable decoys, not just for fighter jets, but for any kind of notable targets.
@@Zamerika-xr8ntyes like 2 days
They do use shelters but these jets were actively flying missions dropping French HAMER bombs
They’re tracked on return to base and you can’t simply land straight into a fortified shelter

If you can see a jet on a military airfield it’s probably a dummy target
