I'm just loving this whole entire adventure...with everything you 3 have been through & still be able to post regularly is just amazing. Nothing but respect & admiration for you 3.
heard you say a lot about how cycling through Death Valley was the best place you've ever ridden so I had to watch these to see what you meant...wooow it looks incredible, those sunrise shots are breathtaking
I was already enjoying watching you guys' trip. Then I broke my arm on Tuesday and this is the only riding fix I can get. Booooooooo!! Super glad you guys are having a good time.
What about extending this trip a bit? Maybe crossing the states from west to east? I don't want this trip to ever end... 😁👍 Can't wait for the Yosemite NP scenery, keep it rolling, guys
Independence CA has a little tea room where you can buy amazing local honey. Also, the hike from the Onion Valley campground up to Kearsarge Pass is 100x better than the riding. You get to the top at 12000' and see the desert to the east and a half-dozen valleys with dozens of lakes to the west. It is stunning.
Randomly took photos at Redhook Brooklyn for the first time this year and saw your post about your crash so I started following your channel. Easily one of my favorite vlogs! Enjoy the ride.
Independence, Lone Pine, Big Pine, Bishop, Mammoth, June Lake, Lee Vining, Bridgeport .... all places I've visited on numerous backpacking trips into the Sierra Nevada from the Owens Valley side of the mountains.
Y'all talk about Lawrence getting sunburned at 52° in 15minutes. I got sun burnt at 32° in lesser than 6 hours and like I'm caramel Brown and I still got sunburned faster than my white friends hahaha. Imagine a guy go from a colour of cappuccino to espresso that was me hahahaha.
Stunning footage Francis and great to see the worst is over . Although too late it would of been nice to see you take 95 up through Arizona to Lake Havasu , new home of the London Bridge and is where I use to live for a portion of the year . Its cool to see the bridge rebuilt in the desert , you can still see the pot marks on the side where the Germans hit it during WW2 . Its never too late for tubless if you are able to . Nice too that your stops have WiFi although not surprised about poor cell phone reception .
That early morning/sunrise B roll though... 51 degrees as well, I thought it was hot when visiting Scotland yesterday at 31 degrees, whaddo I know? Safe journey boys, look forward to the next post.
James has to be THE most upbeat character imaginable. He is never down. Lawrence sometimes looks like he's going to top himself but James would probably laugh if you told him he had cancer
If you can do Onion Valley climb on east side of the Sierras...brutal climb up towards Mt. Whitney...enjoy Yosemite by bike...it's gonna blow your mind
Ha. I thought you boys were hardcore but no. Cycling in the cool morning air :). Keep it up. Cinematography is great considering the cycling effort as well.
You guys were probably puncturing on the dreaded and common, what we called "bullhead stickers" in SoCal. Did anyone mention that? Surprised you're not riding something like Schwalbe Marathons for such a trip. Kelso, LOL, views of Devil's Playground and dunes. I'm enjoying this saga.
You look like you have been doing better, poor Lawrence the most sun burned person on the planet. Yes we do know the difference between sourdough and white bread lol.
Into the valley of death ( see what I did there, Death Valley eh?) rode the the 3 Wally’s. Just kidding you guys are awesomely manly and rugged. Seriously mad props to you all. 👍🐫📽 best vlogs to date such quality.
I can identify with you cycling throughout the night as I saw groups of riders late at night in the Philipinnes Not only do they travel to escape the heat but also the congestion as the roads are very congested during the daytime hours
Another great vlog 👌 One problem though.... How are you going to back this awesome trip / vlog up once you get home?? You have set a high standard keep it up 😎.. 🍻🍻🍻
Really like this series (and the Vietnam one even more), but when talking about your bikes, it would really hope showing them for more than three seconds, rather than just pointing at the person talking about it.
i remember few years ago i was in arkansas heat wave... 114 farenheit at 4 o'clock in the morning , in day time i cannot even work 15 minute without getting fussy and going lay down in my truck , so biking all day under the sun you guy must be in Bad Ass shape lolll Nice work and enjoy the trip :)
Lawrence scratched another helmet. Lord of the Flies. When is sour dough not sour dough, in the land of gluten free? Winter bike in summer eyeball melting heat. Oh, and beers are carb loading ... sort of ........ Did I miss anything?
As far as tubeless tires go, maybe if you guys were using the most durable tubeless tires it would have worked. If you were relying on sealant in those tires, it would be a bad idea, the sealant would dry up after couple hours on the road… The pavement would likely be over 150 degrees, when the air temperature was 112, at those temperatures latex dries incredibly fast.
Not sure I agree. Orange Seal Endurance should last them for the duration of their trip. They would definitely get punctures still and would probably have want to carry two 16oz bottles with them.
Hi Scot, Very interesting, thanks for the heads up, we're off to Sicily touring for 6 days and I'm about to convert to tubeless, what durable tyres do you recommend? Steve
Stephen, it depends on how close you are to making this trip. I would not make such a drastic change to my set-up within a week or two of a tour by bicycle. You may run into unforeseen complications. But in general, my preferred tubeless sealant (regular Orange Seal) lasts >4 months and never completely dries for the life of my tire. I keep my bike stored away from direct sunlight and in a climate controlled room. If I have a difficult puncture which does not seal within seconds, I typically add 20mL of sealant through the valve post-ride. Also do not be afraid to run lower pressures. I run ~60psi on 28mm tubeless tires...it's more comfortable, you won't pinch flat and you will get fewer punctures.
The suffering in the Mojave heat is over:( GJ Gentlemen! You learned a lot. DEATH VALLEY SUUUUUUUUCKS in summer, it's bearable in winter, but still sucks. Take in every bit of the Sierras + Yosemite! What did you think of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale beer?
What's the food bars u guys are on about in this Vlog? Is there a link for em. Really enjoying both yourself and Laurence's vlogs on this tour! Keep it up lads. Safe peddling 👍
You don't really need to deflate the tyres entirely (or at all) on a bicycle... just let a bit out and say you did it. Normal sea level pressure is 14.7psi, cargo hold on airline is 11-12psi (like riding over a 2400m alpine pass)... maybe if your fatbike tyres were rock hard near tyre/rim limit and there happened to be total cabin depressurisation they might let go.
hahaha, that closing shot. no one ever remembers having one beer. Also, why is James wearing a roadie cap through that heat? just curious. bit of shade for the eyes/neck?
Love the daily videos! Hope you ride through Marin on your route. You should meet up with Dustin Klein in Portland. Check his channel, it's as awesome as yours but in a 'Portlandia' sort of way!
All these tubeless tyre comments. What's the operational temperature range for the sealant? Sure it's likely to be less than 40o. Temperature has a strange effect on rubber,
I vote for a tubeless conversion in a hotel! I think there will be sealant all over the room and with UV illumination would look like a crime scene or a porn set.
I reccomend biking over 11,500 foot high Loveland Pass in Colorado. See how many gulps of water you can drink, before you start to pass out, from lack of oxigen. Be sure to do the two 9,000 + foot passes inroute to Loveland Pass on same day as Loveland. You guys may know alot about bike racing, but you don't know crap about LSD (long slow distance) bicycle touring. But I have to admit the b.s you put out about bicycling in america and americans is entertainining, offensive, but entertaining. You are giving a lot of information (via example) on what not to: do, eat and what bikes/equipment not to take on long american bike tour. But your honesty is refreshing. As I have said before, being down in the center of D Valley is a miserable desert experience, let alone in the summer month of June. But there are other deserts, in the western half of america, that are incredibly beautiful geologically, and plants and animals. Note: Rattlesnakes only strike in defense (when threatened or startled), or for food. You are to big for food, and if you don't surprise them, they will leave you alone if you leave them alone. ALTHOUGH THEY MIGHT CRAWL INTO YOUR SLEEPING BAG AT NIGHT TO GET WARM. So I always use a tent or make sure I am totally sealed in a sleeping bag, in rattlesnake country. Which is pretty much all of the western part of the U.S.
There is a reason the places you picked are desolate! I bet not many opportunities to pass other cyclists, wha? You can’t ride on the moon mate and complain about the cold, food and lack of accommodations. But I’m sure James knew all that, the American expert that he is. I mean at least he knows Americans can’t tell the difference between white bread and sourdough, lol. Be safe enjoy what you can and save the shade for when you get back home
I'm just loving this whole entire adventure...with everything you 3 have been through & still be able to post regularly is just amazing. Nothing but respect & admiration for you 3.
"Go tubeless" became the same meme like "what happened to your helmet?" :D
That cinematic sunrise sequence at the start with James,,,,,,,wow!
1- Great choice of music 2- Stunning drone shots 3- Top banter between the 3 of you! 4- One beer?
If I remember rightly, this bit of the ride was so hard even I was turning down beer
heard you say a lot about how cycling through Death Valley was the best place you've ever ridden so I had to watch these to see what you meant...wooow it looks incredible, those sunrise shots are breathtaking
I see you made it to the VC's cave. Now we will get three perspectives on each day's events. What riches we will enjoy! Get yer Bruh on man.
This trip/journey is just topping everything I've seen or heard about. Epic.
I was already enjoying watching you guys' trip. Then I broke my arm on Tuesday and this is the only riding fix I can get. Booooooooo!! Super glad you guys are having a good time.

Can't wait for the Yosemite NP scenery, keep it rolling, guys
Independence. Isn’t that named after a film?
Lawrence Carpenter Lawrence you are real badass dude......
Are you alright? Quite tired~I'm waiting for your vid too:)
tailgater... :-) you been hanging on Lawrence
enjoying your videos Lawrence.....your going to get some delicious seafood in San Francisco..that is something to look forward to
Independence CA has a little tea room where you can buy amazing local honey. Also, the hike from the Onion Valley campground up to Kearsarge Pass is 100x better than the riding. You can see the spark coming back.great job boys.
Fantastic photography, you make a barren desert look good!!
And now we see the sunrise! As expected just beautiful.
Glad you guys made it out of the Desert in one piece. Stay safe & enjoy the adventure.
Randomly took photos at Redhook Brooklyn for the first time this year and saw your post about your crash so I started following your channel. Easily one of my favorite vlogs! Enjoy the ride.
Thank you Francis. It is a realy beautiful video. Motivates me to go out there and ride further than bevore. Greetings from Northgermany
Very early morning for us westerners it is time for another epic episode, now I can’t wait for the next one. Keep it up !!!
Independence, Lone Pine, Big Pine, Bishop, Mammoth, June Lake, Lee Vining, Bridgeport .... all places I've visited on numerous backpacking trips into the Sierra Nevada from the Owens Valley side of the mountains.
You guys are providing a great summer escape for those of us at work!
keep going lads loving every moment of these videos
Y'all talk about Lawrence getting sunburned at 52° in 15minutes. I got sun burnt at 32° in lesser than 6 hours and like I'm caramel Brown and I still got sunburned faster than my white friends hahaha. Imagine a guy go from a colour of cappuccino to espresso that was me hahahaha.
32 seconds: interesting historical fact from James
42 seconds: interesting fact dismissed by James "I don't give a shit about that"
Hilarious!!
How much I'm loving this 0:47 and this 2:17 !! Great shots and perfect music OMG!!!
Awesome, simply awesome.
This needs to be a movie

Every Time Great to See !
That early morning/sunrise B roll though...

Earnt the beers 🍺🍻
Some lovely shots there Francis, perfect.
Binge watching this series for over an hour 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 super edits man 🙌🏻 i rewatched the epic scenery shots 2-3 times 😆
thank you!
Just ONE beer... Next T-Shirt.
Looking forward to a potential Tyler VC + UK boys mash-up soon #bruh
Would love to hear James' opinions on tubeless!.. seems as though they are strong ones
I gotta say these videos are phenomenal
Looks like all three of survive barely!! But I love you guys doing this trip
I couldn't imagine a 9 mile climb. We have some crazy hills in my parts but nothing like that.
BEUTIFULL landscape.
Simply outstanding photography
Keep killin it boys, congrats on making it this far
James has to be THE most upbeat character imaginable. He is never down. Lawrence sometimes looks like he's going to top himself but James would probably laugh if you told him he had cancer
I agree I can't think of Bike Fit Tuesday or any of Francis' vlogs where James wasn't upbeat. I wish I was more like him.
Can’t wait for y’all to get to the Bay Area 😁 you guys are going to love it.
Brilliant footage
If you can do Onion Valley climb on east side of the Sierras...brutal climb up towards Mt. Whitney...enjoy Yosemite by bike...it's gonna blow your mind
You should do a tattoo rundown next. Looks like James has some pretty sweet pieces and I see an badass bird poking out of your kit.
you guys are truly an inspiration to just ride!
Thanks Bernard..Peace
"we've messed up tomorrow again"
(pan cammera to 5 beers on the table)
🤣👍
Why did James’ tubeless joke go flat? 😂 you guys are awesome, Death Valley mid-Summer 😎
Ha. I thought you boys were hardcore but no. Cycling in the cool morning air :). Keep it up. Cinematography is great considering the cycling effort as well.
fracking beauitful ride guys
You guys were probably puncturing on the dreaded and common, what we called "bullhead stickers" in SoCal. Did anyone mention that? Surprised you're not riding something like Schwalbe Marathons for such a trip. Kelso, LOL, views of Devil's Playground and dunes. I'm enjoying this saga.
TBH if you cant splurge once in a while whats the point! .....loving it
You look like you have been doing better, poor Lawrence the most sun burned person on the planet. Yes we do know the difference between sourdough and white bread lol.

Keep on rolling guys 😎
Another great instalment. keep 'em coming chaps :)
Loving the vlogs guys!! 🚲
Another great vlog 👌

Love the videos! Staging point in the 1800s not 1700s lol. Our west isn’t that old.

10.26 just flew by nice stuff guys.
Great trip so far!
Are you gonna visit Vegan Cyclist near Yosemite?
what a fab video guys.
The suffering in the Mojave heat is over:(
GJ Gentlemen! You learned a lot. DEATH VALLEY SUUUUUUUUCKS in summer, it's bearable in winter, but still sucks.
Take in every bit of the Sierras + Yosemite!
What did you think of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale beer?
That beer, SO GOOD
Your filming skills are stunning! as always. (We all know that but I can't help to comment it haha) You can make a movie from that!
Genius. Bring on the Yosemite videos!
'Wolcome to today's video' Woll Smoth vlog
What's the food bars u guys are on about in this Vlog? Is there a link for em. Really enjoying both yourself and Laurence's vlogs on this tour! Keep it up lads. Safe peddling 👍
Velo forte!
I wouldn't like the mess from deflating tubeless tyres to pack in a bikebox/bag before a flight.
Great scenery shots, perfect with the music choice......did anyone mention you should have used tubeless ;-) X-D
Wonder what they'll have to say about Tioga Pass?
How the heck do you get three thumbs down...Pff. Great stuff, again!
how are the CF wheels holding up? with the hole!
All good, no change!
Sweet! Hope all goes well! This has been a awesome journey you guys are on! Your good people!
hahaha, that closing shot. no one ever remembers having one beer. Also, why is James wearing a roadie cap through that heat? just curious. bit of shade for the eyes/neck?
He always wears a cap, no idea!
Just one beer.
Is Lawrence okay? He doesn't seem as upbeat as usual. Still sleepy?
Even before the huge distances in the desert he was quite glum. He seems better here in 2021 though.
Maybe I missed it but what happened to Francis puncture wheel?
Repaired? Exchanged? Just still riding it?
Just still riding it!
Francis Cade So the fear that it fails downhill seems to be gone. Ride on mate 👍
Want to make their silly banter even funnier? Turn on closed captions :)
Ha ha- one beer!
Just one beer... yeah, right :-)
Sherwin grade is coming. Steep and long!
Love the daily videos! Hope you ride through Marin on your route. You should meet up with Dustin Klein in Portland. Check his channel, it's as awesome as yours but in a 'Portlandia' sort of way!
Why did you not do this ride in the fall or winter?
Couldn't get time off
Also it would be easy then.
True!!
All these tubeless tyre comments. What's the operational temperature range for the sealant? Sure it's likely to be less than 40o. Temperature has a strange effect on rubber,
@4:00 gee are you sure none of your viewers mentioned tubeless?? hmm i wonder who it was... haha cheers on staying alive
I vote for a tubeless conversion in a hotel! I think there will be sealant all over the room and with UV illumination would look like a crime scene or a porn set.
Lads Kelso reference. Where do you mean????

We've had a few punctures and eaten tonnes of fast food, not really that bad.
Ok, food’s starting to look up...
One beer has been the biggest lie since cave man times.
There is a reason the places you picked are desolate! I bet not many opportunities to pass other cyclists, wha? gary rodriguez I was really hoping for a James Bike Fit episode in desolate Stovepipe Wells, California, lmao!
we call those food trucks "roach coach", not taco trucks :-)
Stage coaches in the 1700s? America declared independence in 1776...
Maybe a tubeless may Help
