    Thank you. Your advice at the end of the video really helped calm me about making these decisions, and I needed to hear that. So thank you, also I hope your studying went well, I'm sure it did.

    How to know if its for you.
    1. Can you self study everything on your own?
    2. Are you an innately good test taker?
    3. Can you dish out lots of money?

    Sean Darmal. Although I work at a human hospital in Saint Paul, MN. I’ve always been interested in vet-med. I understand that you’re pursuing an MD and not a DVM career. However, I feel that many things may apply to both type of prospective students when making decisions. If you happen to know a vet-student in SGU, may you connect me with them? I’m applying to SGU next year, and I’d like to cover every base before pulling the trigger. Thanks!

    • @SeanDarmal
      @SeanDarmal  5 років тому

      Hey Douglas, I completely understand, thats a great idea. I am really sorry but I am not close with anyone who is a vet student or even enough to have their contact information. I will try my best to see if anyone comes to mind in the mean time, and i will let you know if anything comes up. let me know if you have any updates on your end too.

    Hey sean my biggest fear is matching, what have you seen since being there? Also what would you recommend as far as tools for studying during your 1st and 2nd year there? Thinking of going in january! Thanks for all your videos

    • @SeanDarmal
      @SeanDarmal  5 років тому +6

      Hey Sergio. So you know matching to a decent residency program is a scary thing. and something i am still worrying about. it really depends on how you do on your step 1 exam. and i am taking my exam soon. so it all comes down to this. and that is stressssfulll. but i will try to keep you informed as things go along. i am not at that part yet in my med school journey. but its something we all worry about.
      and studying tools... first aid book, sketchy for your pharmacology and microbiology, and pathoma for pathology. but i wouldnt worry about that until your 2nd year-ish. for your first couple terms just worry about getting past that next exam and term
      get that ipad

    Hey quick question, where do you store your stuff while you go away for winter or summer break, or do you take everything back and forth?

    • @SeanDarmal
      @SeanDarmal  5 років тому +2

      Hey! When you live in the dorms, all the dorms have storage for all your stuff, over the breaks. also if you get the same dorm for the next term, you do NOT have to move anything. you can keep all your stuff inside your dorm room!

    Do you recommend buying the First aid book in term 1/2 in your first year and annotate it throughout the first two years? Or do you recommend just buying it in term 5 right before you start your dedicated Step 1 studying time?

    • @SeanDarmal
      @SeanDarmal  5 років тому +1

      So here is the deal. I always liked having a physical copy of my books.. but i never once used the physical copy of first aid. I bought the 2017 physical in my 2nd term, and the 2019 in my 5th term. i didnt open either of them. haha. just something about having it on the ipad makes it much easier to search and use in the first place. but a lot of my friends got the physical copy and annotated by hand. i would wait till youre around your 4th term before buying, because there will be a newer version by the time you start your step studying.
      either way, just for the peace of mind i would buy the physical copy just so you have the option of going electronic or physical. you can go hard with the annotating towards term 5 with the newer copy of your year. does that make sense?

    How soon start prep for Step?

    • @SeanDarmal
      @SeanDarmal  4 роки тому +1

      you can start whenever you want. but i would suggest probably the best time being around the break in between your 4th and 5th term. that doesnt mean dedicated studying at that time, but to get your feet wet, and get used to the study load. it takes a while to ramp up to full speed and efficiency

    I’m so into becoming a MD but not sure if I can economically pay for it, i don’t know what’s the tuition to pay, and maybe you can tell me. I’m from NYC by the way. Can you tell me as well, what are the requirements to get into??

    • @SeanDarmal
      @SeanDarmal  4 роки тому +1

      Hey man, yeah tuition comes out to being close to 90k-100k per year. which will be way more expensive after interest. the requirements to get into med school are the four core med classes (bio, chem, ochem, physics), and the mcat exam. but that should be it. also keep in mind some teachers youd want to ask for letters of recommendation

    Is studying medicine similar to the mcat?

    • @SeanDarmal
      @SeanDarmal  5 років тому +26

      HELLLLLLLLLLL NOOOOOO! i hated the mcat. none of it made sense to me and i would still probably fail the mcat if i tried to take it again. haha studying medicine is way more straight forward. the only thing is that it is really fast pace and a lot of volume, but you quickly adjust to it. you would be surprised of what you are capable of when it comes down to it. you become a little more capable the more you move along your terms
      that was my concern too. i thought i wouldnt be good in med school because i did terrible on the mcat, but they're two completely different things. good question

    Hey sean i had few questions about sgu. I am nervous to start at caribbean school because i dont feel confident that i will pass the basics science and feel what if i fail there at sgu what will happen. I am retaking my mcat to improve my application but if i dont get the score i will be thinking about starting sgu or ross. I have 3.97 gpa and have all volunteeres activities but mcat was 482 so planning to take it again. Do you have any advice for me. I am scared of mcat exam now but wants to try on more time. i was thinking about changing to dental and maybe get admission here in usa rather than MD. However, my inner soul is saying pursue medicine. You have any words?
