Its been a busy couple of days. I picked up a load of Shipping Containers going to Charleston South Carolina I did get my flat tire fixed. Not to sure what caused it to go flat.
Hi Dan! Love your videos. I’m a Canadian trucker and we can twist our straps in Canada as well. Our load securement rules and regulations are almost identical to the US so there’s no issues running between the two countries. The biggest differences between Canada and the US are weights and HOS. I always twist my straps if they come away from the load at all. It actually saves the straps from loosening and extra wear and tear.
There is one BIG difference between the two countries when flatbedding. Canada doesn’t recognize 5/16th chains! It’s not an acceptable securement. Crazy huh! 🤔😵💫
I have been trucking in Canada for about 18 years and DOT has never given me any grief about me twisting my straps. I do it because if a strap starts to flap you know it is loose. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there my fellow gear jammer
Dan, I learn something from you every time I watch your videos. From repairing your generator to putting a twist in the straps. You are the best at sharing your skills and giving tips. Be safe out there. Dave
Dan, I drove truck from 1992--2009. Watching your posts bring back memories. Some good but some not so good. Like waiting to load----unload, dealing with mistakes that weren't yours and so forth. Like watching. Keep it up!!!
@@stevenloheac7655 Yep I run a Peterbilt with a paccar, its been a great engine absolutely no problems at all plus 785,000 on the clock still running sweet.
Great video. I live 20 miles from Albert Lea MN. That is a great place to park out of the way behind Walmart. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Interesting. Do you run the midwest alot?
Just found your channel. It looks like it will be interesting. It looks like the other flatbed driver might not have bothered to do much more than mutter a "thank you" and then be on his way. A handshake and maybe a "what are you hauling?" or "where are you going?" might have been more appropriate.
Kinda bummed you didn't film in MN. Minneapolis is my hometown and I moved this past summer... kinda missing the fall in Minnie. Great video, regardless, Dan. Always dig watching, even though I am not a trucker. Safe travels!
In Canada you can do twist but not in ontario and bc provinces . So imagine im fro. Quebec and if i have the load to MI i cant do because im forced to pass from Ontario ..
Dan, If you could do you mind doing a video on how you fold your tarps? I know how I do it but yours look like they are always folded nice and tight and end up smaller than mine. I would love to get a better way so it is easier to get them in my sidebox. Thanks!
Dan, use the first row to subtract the state’s fuel tax to get the base price. Then do that in adjacent states to find your lowest base price per gallon. Hope it helps. You may already know.
You left us in the dark, where you able to get that tire patched or did you have to buy a new one? Also where you parked, off to the left was a nice truck load of super duty ford trucks....
Hey Dan check out falcon eye they have a pretty good set up i was running a four camera set up my self i think i could expand to six or eight i forget but i had one top center rear of cab that was nice I could see my load and the trailer had one on each side facing rearward and one front mounted I could record also and through WiFi a home base or via cell i could monitor what's going on around my truck and trailer if I was not present to me it was well worth the $$$
Hi Dan in the uk you are not allowed to carry containers unless there’s twistlocks fitted. Different country’s different rules. Well done spotting that winch bar could have done a lot of damage. Like your professionalism 👍🇬🇧👍
Is there a rule about placing dunnage under a loaded container? It seems the way you’ve loaded them, the weight is mostly resting on the outside rails.
When it rains it pours!!! Yes this is the first time I saw upset ? That sucks dam paperwork!!!! You are correct about the container will twist so chaining them close is better!!!
What an idiot I can see that going through somebody's windshield or getting to his next delivery and having to borrow one. Thanks for another great video I hope you have a better day👍👍👍👍
I don't know if it's true or not but I was told if you have a twist in the strap you can pull it tighter and it holds tighter, do you know if that's true.
Sir Dan !! Question !! If you aren't gona run your "'OL''Pete "' anymore, then what are your plans for it other than a BIG Flower pot ?? HAHA Anyhows,, good running to SC as storm is supposed to be spotty rain & NOT severe like they had in TX last night !! If it wasn't that far to Charleston, then would have met you there & had Supper !! Maybe we'll cross paths in the future !! ""KEEP IT SAFE ""
Hey dan does ur truck have like a plastic kinda of squeak noise coming from the headliner area when the cab is twisting and hits bumps in the road? I own the same truck as you and mine does have this noise. Drives me INSANE can’t find the cause of it yet.
i've got a 40' shipping container full of lumber that weighs 40,000lbs. need to move from california 92277 to arizona 85617. can you move that, and at what price? or do you have a friend who drives around the southwest?
I’m like you....the chains hold the load to the trailer but the straps are for show and the DOT likes to see them. Tell me about singing stripes........drove a pilot car pickup truck once and had a large oversized load sign that sat on the bed rails and I forgot to twist the straps. Made a hell of a racket all the way.
Some do some don't, as always a few have messed it up for the many, abusing the hospitality, by dumping their trash on the ground rather than walking over to the trash can
flatbed work is new for me even i have 5+ years experience of reefer, thanks for this informative video

that pass between Knoxville and S. Carolinia is beautiful, in all seasons, kinda slippery in the winter, but still a nice drive.
Best part of your videos are you showing the load, loading, & unloading, not that the other parts aren't great. Thanks, Dan!

I have delivered coils at that same place in South Dakota. I forget the name of it but they make metal roofing I think. Great video!

Go around the spool and up the stake poccet to take stress/load off of the spool only. Great securements nonetheless! No forward or rearward movement
Nice job catching the winch bar!! Could have made for a bad day for someone!
Glad your day got better. Stay safe out there.

See the paccar is still running sweet, kinda like my favorite power plant now...

Would you buy another truck with a paccar engine after running one?

I drove a 379 Pete just like the one at that TA. But i have to say, i liked driving the 386, and the 387 much better.

Thank you the simplest way too chain containers all that up an down through the pockets is very unnecessary
Dan I thought you were from Arizona. What’s with the Florida Gator toy behind your head?

Why did you chase after that Step deck trailer?
He left his winch bar his trailer
How do you like that paccar engine? Any emissions problems or major repairs since you had it?
It has been illegal for almost 40 years to chain containers in Europe.
What are your Top 5 rules of truck driving?
That's always the question, a pair of tires or a super single. You can't say "Oh, look, I have a flat tire. Ho Hum" with a super single.
