- You are about to learn all about the Nissan Xterra PRO-4X. This 4 wheel drive body on frame SUV is based off the Nissan Frontier, and can go offroad. It's powerful V6 engine gives the Xterra the juice it needs to tow 5000 lbs, but it drinks quite a bit of fuel. The Nissan Xterra has been around since 1999. The first generation was 1999-2001, and second was 2002-2004.
This model is towards the end of the third generation, which was 2005-2015. It stayed about the same for these years, but it was solidly built, reliable, and a design that didn't age too much.
It still looks cool.
And now that true body on frame SUV's are few and far between, you're lucky to find one like this. Your other options are Toyota FJ Cruiser(used), Jeep Wrangler, or Toyota 4-Runner. A body on frame makes for a rugged off-roader, but not quite as refined or smooth on the road as a car-based SUV or crossover.
Another important thing is that this one has a 6 speed manual transmission. It shifts pretty smoothly, and provides a nice driver-vehicle, man and machine connection. Enthusiasts beware, these are super-hard to find these days. If you see a good one, snatch it up quick.

Stock Pro 4x has 9.5" ground clearance
Good review. Own a Black 2015 PRO-4X (6MT) with 7K miles on it; have added a roof cargo basket, but no other mods. Paid $30K new for it; more comfortable and a better on-road driver than a Wrangler. Leather seating was only available on the automatics (go figure that one); I personally prefer the fabric on the PRO. The cupholder inserts in the center console lift out to provide room for larger containers if needed. A sliding sunroof would not have worked with the stepped roofline that provides a stadium seating configuration unfortunately. No MT is a pleasure to drive in heavy stop-n-go traffic; best to just avoid it if possible...

I owned a 2006 pro 4X at that time it was called an offroad edition. It was manual transmission with the real lockers. There is an upper glove Box also there are 2.
I have a 2006 off road 4x4 Xterra with 6 speed(stick), 2.5 lift, wheels, tires, Gobi ladder, roof rack etc. With only 98k on it. I did all the mods on it myself. I drive my 2010 Tundra( I lowered it 2/4 Belle tech kit & 102K on it) more now. "I will never sell either of them". Xterra's will be $$$ one day

Great video! I also have the 2012 Xterra PRO4x 6 speed manual. I just had a new clutch put in yesterday and it needed it! Mine is the same color as yours. I do have bigger tires on mine, 285's and a 2 inch lift as well. Great vehicles for sure!

Love the xterra. Wish they’d bring it back. I have a frontier pro4x 6 speed and I really like it but would trade for a 6 speed pro4x xterra in the same condition. They’re just so hard to find. Nismo is supporting them better than the frontier with more accessories which is cool, but gives me envy as a frontier owner. Nice review.

It can't have a sliding sun/moonroof because of the way the roof rises in the back
these are very rare in Canada. i'm thinking of buying one, which is about 1000km away. 2015 pro4x with manual. so rare! i'm worried about the clutch slipping. have you replaced yours?

How long do the clutches last? i'v enever had a Nissan or other asian vehicle last more than 70K. Also do the seats have lumbar support? TIA.
Mine has 65k miles and clutch still feels good and grabby. I know how to drive a manual properly though lol (my civic clutch went 120k miles before I sold it and was starting to chirp a little, but i beat the SHIT out of that civic )
