I'm sorry to say but I won't be doing any tutorials for the time being. My laptop lags too much to record audio and adding text manually takes too much time. If anybody needs some help with low poly or wants to learn how to do it, please message me here, on blenderartists or blendswap. I will gladly explain what you want and give you some general tips. So don't hesitate to send me a message if you don't understand something.
Your speed renders are really good in the form of tutorials. Moderate users should be able to get a lot out of them. Would you mind posting the modifiers you use and what points in the comments, however, as those do get lost in the time lapse?
Voxel Hound (Weekly Vids) That's really simple actually. I just added a plane, scaled it up and subdivided it with 10 cuts. I then added a displace modifier with the default texture. Pop down the strenght of it to something like 0.2. Lastly, rotate the plane just like the camera so it is facing it straight. And that's it.
Thomas Sanjurjo In all of my videos I just used a displace modifier with the default texture, but in this one I tried something different. I firstly added a displace modifier, then, if needed I subdivided my mesh again and added another displace for even more bumps. I then added a decimate modifier and lowered the ratio to something that I like. Lastly I added an edge split modifier and lowered the split angle to something low. Also, don't forget to set the mesh to smooth to see the effects of the edge split modifier.
PigArt Do you have any tutorial that show us how we can make a low-poly realistic water animation? We need to put it into games so it must not be more than 2000 verts. Thanks!
+PigArt Hi, the displace modifier has a different effect when I try to use it. I make a plane with 20 subdivs I extrude it to make a box and I add the modifier but it doesn't distort like yours. Am I missing something? What is the thing you do with the texture?
+colloredbrothers Not the OP obviously, but I ran into this issue too. Make sure you're making a texture with clouds and use a displace modifier with the cloud texture selected with a strength of ~0.1 then you can decimate to your heart's content.
Dude, that is so amazing to watch...idc what anyone else says. Watching you do this stuff is makes learning more about blender all the more worth while! Thanks for showing it!
Absolutely awesome music choice right there. Nice seeing the process you doing there. Haven't seen it done like this in 3D before (just in Illustrator).
I love how you did the shadows underneath the trees near the end of the video. Such a simple solution, and a beautiful one at that. I use Cinema4D but I love watching your artistic technique.
Hey It's videos like this that inspire me to keep going with Blender no matter how much of a struggle I find it. I have wanted to give up a few times and then I see this and I am right back trying to learn again. Awesome work!
That's amazing! I don't know why I never thought to use proportional editing for sculpting mountains and other low poly items. I think I'm going to try to make a low poly animation some time.
Hiii. Now to Blender... I noticed how smoothly you were able to raise the terrain for the selected meshes only. How is that done? I tried Displace... but it is applied to the whole Plane. How do you smoothly raise the selected meshes? Is there a online tutorial that will teach that?
PigArt Cool, so did you use lambert? also are you using flat shading or smooth shading, as I can see flat colors. regarding lighting any recommendation as to what can be used for the nice lighting you get, as I dont see a sun lamp. Thanks!
Did you make a Great wall of china model and uploaded it to some website? I once searched up a great wall of china and i found the wall with this type of style
Is this type of model ok to use for a video game or would one have to go through the workflow of baking maps and textures reducing the poly count? Sorry if this is kind of a noob question...
What is this low poly art style called? I love this art style, it looks something like paper, I would like to get some other references to this art style
PigArt wow, that was fast :o, thank you, apparently it really is geometric art, the thing about me being unsore if it was called low poly is because I have seen some low poly art that doesn't look like this, but mostly you can find this artsyle by searching low poly art, I must learn how to do this, because I love it, by the way, what are the modifiers you used from 3:25 to 3:50?
PigArt What is that thing you used at 3:29 to give the ground that shaky look?Is that a modifier? And also, how do you select faces with that circle like at (1:45 )
Great inspiration - but somehow, my DISPALCE deosnt work at all : ( even for last modificate of landscape as well for background plate : ( idk what is wrong.
I am d*ck ... there is need to add some texture, which is default at least. Sorry. You are awesome! Thanks for this videos! At least, i can go sleep in peace now (2.18 am)
Hi thanks for all your tutorials, you help alot of people like me who are new to blender. Please keep making videos tutorials when you have your new laptop :-) I hope until now you must have bought one.
Psychentist No need to be like that. It was a friendly enough question. I was asking so I could experiment in Unity, I am not a 3d modeler and I wouldn't be able to pull this off.
Looks like he selected a single vertex, grabbed and dragged it along the Z-Axis while using the mousewheel to change the sphere of influence. Make sure you have on proportional editing.
It's Blender from www.blender.org . It's kind of easy to get the hang of but if you don't have any secret talent for it then be prepared to spend 2-3 years of daily-weekly practice to make renders like in the video.
I'm sorry to say but I won't be doing any tutorials for the time being. My laptop lags too much to record audio and adding text manually takes too much time. Aha, edge split is the one I was missing. Thanks. Keep up the great work, it's inspiring.
Sorry for the lack of videos. I'm on vqcation right now and my laptop broke so I can't record anything.
Amazing!
PigArt This is great!!!
PigArt Do you have any tutorial that show us how we can make a low-poly realistic water animation?
We need to put it into games so it must not be more than 2000 verts.

What happened to the music?
Beautiful work. Awesome soundtrack. Definitely sharing with all my art friends!
Dude, that is so amazing to watch...idc what anyone else says. Watching you do this stuff is makes learning more about blender all the more worth while! Thanks for showing it!

I love your styling! Super fun!
Hey It's videos like this that inspire me to keep going with Blender no matter how much of a struggle I find it. I have wanted to give up a few times and then I see this and I am right back trying to learn again. Awesome work!
Stewart Matheson Good luck man!
How did you make the small hills and bumpiness on the land?
That's amazing! I don't know why I never thought to use proportional editing for sculpting mountains and other low poly items. I think I'm going to try to make a low poly animation some time.
This is amazing, I always like when someone can make low poly look good! :)
Hiii. Now to Blender... I noticed how smoothly you were able to raise the terrain for the selected meshes only. How is that done? I tried Displace... but it is applied to the whole Plane. How do you smoothly raise the selected meshes? Is there a online tutorial that will teach that?
How would I add the snow cap texture on the top of the mountian? Is it possible to have different textures dor different planes in one model?
Hey dude! I am really new to blender and am wondering how you do the brush and raise of the mountains?
+Ezra Stitt (nuclear kid) Proportional editing, hotkey is O.
+PigArt That was very usefull. thanks!
the O key dosnt work. ;c
What music? I’m confused, its silent...
That was sick! You are really good man!
I love your models, I always liked blocky & cartoony looking 3D things :D
Since the Video is fast i cant see what tools are using for making mountains like that..
Can you turn on the Keyboard control display on blender
This is brilliant and looks fantastic. Thanks for creating this!
Youre vids got me into Low Poly art, Thanks Man!
how do you achieve the raise at 0:16? its not working for me, it raises the whol plane :( love your work!
How do you pull up the mountains like that? When I try they look really bad
DAYUMM THEY BE LUKIN' GUD GUESS WHAT? YOU GOT ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER!
This is beautiful! Good job!
Love your work! Learning so much from it, thanks for sharing with us, keep up the good work.
Cheers from Czech Republic.
A total time of one hour. Nice! I think I'll try something like this today. I'm sure it'll be good practice. :D
How to get the colors to come out nicely like this instead of very plain?
how do you get the cartoony look in this video, i see two tone colors?
any special shaders? subscribed! love your art
I use diffuse shaders and a sun lamp with the size of 0.03. That's it.
PigArt Cool, so did you use lambert? also are you using flat shading or smooth shading, as I can see flat colors. regarding lighting any recommendation as to what can be used for the nice lighting you get, as I dont see a sun lamp. Thanks!
I use flat shading. I always use the sun lamp so no idea on what else you could use.
PigArt Thank you :)
This was awesome, subscribed
Oh man. Would love to start laying down some train track and steam locos on that terrain :)
Great work!
I'm glad I found your channel.
You made me want to try doing low poly art too! :)
I love your work!
Did you make a Great wall of china model and uploaded it to some website? I once searched up a great wall of china and i found the wall with this type of style
Nope, I haven't made that.
how did you make the mountains?
Brill as always! You deserve a cuppa!
Thanks!
Keep up your awesome work! Your work is always beatiful.
Is this type of model ok to use for a video game or would one have to go through the workflow of baking maps and textures reducing the poly count? Sorry if this is kind of a noob question...
Ricardo Franco The model itself is ready, but you still need to uv unwrap it and create a texture.
***** Oh ok! Thanks!
all of your stuff is amazing, very clean work. Have you considered working on a game or something like that?
I don't have enough time to work on a game by myself
ah i see
Amazing. Tought about an animal crossing remake with low poly style
What is this low poly art style called? I love this art style, it looks something like paper, I would like to get some other references to this art style
From what I know it's simply called low poly or geometric art.
Well textured game models can also be called low poly, so it can get mixed up. I used the displace and decimate modifiers.
PigArt Another question, how did you leveled up the mountains in the beginning so smoothly? were you using sculpt mode?
I was using proportional editing.
how do you make the camera to that shape?
this is cool! i think of doing something like this, too.
I'll post a result, when it's finished.
water melting off the ice caps on top of the mountains into the stream would have been cool
like your work man!
PigArt What is that thing you used at 3:29 to give the ground that shaky look?Is that a modifier? And also, how do you select faces with that circle like at (1:45 )
For the shaky look I used the displace modifier. For the face selection the shortcut is C. If you want to deselect with the circle then just hold ALT.
PigArt Wow, fast reply :)
Thank you very much, i'm new at blender and your videos are helping me very much!
bbQsauce9295 I try to make my videos slow for people to be able to learn something but still fast enough to be enjoyable to watch.
I am not familiar with Blender, what tool did you use on 3:28 and after? Is that some kind of noise tool
Displace modifier.
how did you rotate those trees without getting the land affected?
LOL Kygo? :))) Nailed it bro
i love your type of animation
Sorry to interrupt you on vacation again but do you make low poly buildings like old chineese/medieval ?
Never tried it, but I'll add it to my list on what I should model.
what was the tool you used to make the land all bumpy? at 3:29.
In case someone sees this comment - it's most likely *displacement modifier*, as it displaces things using displacement texture.
How do you access that menu at 2:25? Thanks in advance
this is beautiful. well done :)
How long did this take?
So amazing.
Great inspiration - but somehow, my DISPALCE deosnt work at all : ( even for last modificate of landscape as well for background plate : ( idk what is wrong.
Its moving only with whole plate.
I am d*ck ... there is need to add some texture, which is default at least. Sorry. You are awesome! Thanks for this videos! At least, i can go sleep in peace now (2.18 am)
what is the modifier, cant seem to be able to see what you used.
what are all of the ones you used. thanks.
That Is Really Cool! :)
I wish I knew how to use Blender like you do =)
Dat youtube money tho... 22k wievs gratz m9!
Nice work :)!
Hi thanks for all your tutorials, you help alot of people like me who are new to blender. Please keep making videos tutorials when you have your new laptop :-) I hope until now you must have bought one.
how do you lift those mountains like that, i mean if you just select one corner it doesn't end up like that for me
+misscreator super hit o to turn on proportional editing and use the scroll wheel to decide how big of an area you want to effect.
+Jacob and Ian thank you
+misscreator super your welcome :)
tutorial please..this is too great to speed it up.!
thanks I love your artwork.
Will do! ;)
sorry I am new to blender but could someone please tell me or give me a link to how to do the cool background? thanks in advance
Try ''Displace'' modifier
Bro u are the boss.
Your videos are awesome and have taught me a whole lot! Thank you for doing them, and I hope to see more in the future!
P
Nice, thank's for the video PigArt! :D
Anywhere to download a 3d model of the landscape? For use in Unity3d?
No, make your own like the rest of us.
Psychentist No need to be like that. It was a friendly enough question. I was asking so I could experiment in Unity, I am not a 3d modeler and I wouldn't be able to pull this off.
***** I would gladly do that but my time only allows for one hobby, and s hobby that takes up a lot of time doesn't allow for others.
My apologies, I was in a bit of a mood when I said that. But really, it IS a tutorial on how to do make the thing.
Material design excellent
why do you use cycles when you don't use anything that only cycles can do?
Mostly it's because it's easier to get these results in cycles rather than blender internal. Also, it has a lot to do with personal preferance.
Ahh I see. Well I do agree that it's easier to get that "clean" look in cycles.
Awesssome!
thanks for the download, this my fav :)
What is this song? I must have it...
well done
Hello how do you lift that part @ 0:16
Looks like he selected a single vertex, grabbed and dragged it along the Z-Axis while using the mousewheel to change the sphere of influence. Make sure you have on proportional editing.
What program is this? Is it hard to learn
It's Blender from www.blender.org . It's kind of easy to get the hang of but if you don't have any secret talent for it then be prepared to spend 2-3 years of daily-weekly practice to make renders like in the video.
ok thx I see its a freeware, is there a good "getting-started" tutorial
You can learn most of the things you need from www.cgcookie.com/blender
awesome
but whats the name of the song?
Seinabo Sey - Younger (Kygo Remix)
It's in the description.
what is that graph thing you used at 2:25?
Node editor, for mixing materials.
When your laptop is repared will you then show us your woice. Keep it up it is very intertaning
Yes I'll try and use a different laptop once I get back home.
Sounds good
do you use cinema 4d?
No, I use Blender.
Okay
Did you use 64 bit or 32 bit?
64
Thanks
Please Put Song Name In Video Description
Sorry for forgetting that. I've added it now.
can you do a tutorial for this pls
+Jacob and Ian Just read the comment about tutorials down below. You could edit in some text at the bottom or use a mic plugged into something else.
Beautyful! :D
really, realy slsome ^^ blender 4 the win :D
wow .. maybe i can try this then i spam my first low poly pine tree there haha XD
If you want a tutorial to do exactly this just use the youtube feature and slow down the video!
fantastic
Урашно стариканя! Так держать, настоящий мастер.
eyegasm :O
*gasp* Blender!
why you no make game with this art style haha
how many times faster is this video than the original
8 times.
Only 50 minutes? Holy crap dude, you work fast!
Yeah, with low poly I've learned how to work really fast :D
Kygo!!
master pig teach me for the paths of knowledges
tutorial please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i beg you!!!
I would like to do something like this : 3
Nobody is stopping you from learning :)
PigArt true ;D, except lazyness :PPP
+lolslayer 7 likes vs one. I think PigArt got OWNED!
amr ojjeh Yah ;)
nice
Too little poly for me.
