    I'm sorry to say but I won't be doing any tutorials for the time being. My laptop lags too much to record audio and adding text manually takes too much time. If anybody needs some help with low poly or wants to learn how to do it, please message me here, on blenderartists or blendswap. I will gladly explain what you want and give you some general tips. So don't hesitate to send me a message if you don't understand something.

      Your speed renders are really good in the form of tutorials. Moderate users should be able to get a lot out of them. Would you mind posting the modifiers you use and what points in the comments, however, as those do get lost in the time lapse?

    • @pigartt
      @pigartt  10 років тому +1

      Voxel Hound (Weekly Vids) That's really simple actually. I just added a plane, scaled it up and subdivided it with 10 cuts. I then added a displace modifier with the default texture. Pop down the strenght of it to something like 0.2. Lastly, rotate the plane just like the camera so it is facing it straight. And that's it.

    • @pigartt
      @pigartt  10 років тому +2

      Thomas Sanjurjo In all of my videos I just used a displace modifier with the default texture, but in this one I tried something different. I firstly added a displace modifier, then, if needed I subdivided my mesh again and added another displace for even more bumps. I then added a decimate modifier and lowered the ratio to something that I like. Lastly I added an edge split modifier and lowered the split angle to something low. Also, don't forget to set the mesh to smooth to see the effects of the edge split modifier.

    • @ThomasSanjurjo
      @ThomasSanjurjo 10 років тому +1

      Aha, edge split is the one I was missing. Thanks. Keep up the great work, it's inspiring.

      PigArt Do you have any tutorial that show us how we can make a low-poly realistic water animation?
      We need to put it into games so it must not be more than 2000 verts.
      Thanks!

    • @colloredbrothers
      @colloredbrothers 9 років тому

      +PigArt Hi, the displace modifier has a different effect when I try to use it. I make a plane with 20 subdivs I extrude it to make a box and I add the modifier but it doesn't distort like yours. Am I missing something? What is the thing you do with the texture?

    • @jacobbb-t7i
      @jacobbb-t7i 9 років тому

      +colloredbrothers Not the OP obviously, but I ran into this issue too. Make sure you're making a texture with clouds and use a displace modifier with the cloud texture selected with a strength of ~0.1 then you can decimate to your heart's content.

    Hiii. Now to Blender... I noticed how smoothly you were able to raise the terrain for the selected meshes only. How is that done? I tried Displace... but it is applied to the whole Plane. How do you smoothly raise the selected meshes? Is there a online tutorial that will teach that?

    Is this type of model ok to use for a video game or would one have to go through the workflow of baking maps and textures reducing the poly count? Sorry if this is kind of a noob question...

    • @pigartt

      Ricardo Franco The model itself is ready, but you still need to uv unwrap it and create a texture.

    What is this low poly art style called? I love this art style, it looks something like paper, I would like to get some other references to this art style

    • @pigartt
      @pigartt  10 років тому

      From what I know it's simply called low poly or geometric art.

    • @MrJonhykrazy
      @MrJonhykrazy 10 років тому

      PigArt wow, that was fast :o, thank you, apparently it really is geometric art, the thing about me being unsore if it was called low poly is because I have seen some low poly art that doesn't look like this, but mostly you can find this artsyle by searching low poly art, I must learn how to do this, because I love it, by the way, what are the modifiers you used from 3:25 to 3:50?

    • @pigartt
      @pigartt  10 років тому

      Well textured game models can also be called low poly, so it can get mixed up. I used the displace and decimate modifiers.

    PigArt What is that thing you used at 3:29 to give the ground that shaky look?Is that a modifier? And also, how do you select faces with that circle like at (1:45 )

    • @pigartt
      @pigartt  10 років тому

      For the shaky look I used the displace modifier. For the face selection the shortcut is C. If you want to deselect with the circle then just hold ALT.
