When I played using 2/3upper lip it always lead to lip tearing. Met and studied with Jerry Callet who change my embouchure. Move mp down to 1/3 upper 2/3 lower. Solved problems.
Unfortunately His audience probably wouldn’t have accepted it. Why Buddy left to pursue his own muse, and the rest is history. Buddy didn’t rely on one or two writers but often young guys in the band like Bob Mintzer, Rocasano, etc…
ChuckPD says it is: BILL BYRNE =>Anyone know who the Alto player is that takes the solo at @1:48 ? It is obviously Bill Byrne or Don Mohr, I'd like to know which one. This Video: Harry James Band EUR 1970: “TAKE A TRAIN(per L.Welk/haha)" & SATIN DOLL ua-cam.com/video/56M4Q7SgSD8/v-deo.html According to a Berlin 1970 UA-cam, here are the players: SAX: A: BILL BYRNE/DON MOHR, T: Corky Corcoran/Gary Herbig, B: Jack Watson TPT: Thomas Holden, Jack Poster, Walter Pfyl, Clarence Styne BONE: Dave Robbins, Gail Martin, Bill Painter P: Jack Percival B: John Smith D: Sonny Payne

Harry was a phenomenal trumpeter. Just wish he had updated his repertoire. He could have pushed the up and comers, great technician...

I saw Herbig sub for Steve Marcus in Buddy’s band 1980’s Disneyland
Next night Don Menza subbed-unreal player!
Absolutely the mouthpiece is resting on padded and cushioned embouchure
His embouchure is very similar to that of Sergei Nakariakov.
Sergei probably copied Harry !
