    Those 2 filters show WHY oil should be changed every 5k and/or 6 months, when using synthetic oil; IF you use straight mineral oil, then go to the 3k/4-month oil change schedule!

    • @donwyoming1936
      @donwyoming1936 5 місяців тому +1

      Every 6 months? Oil don't go bad sitting in the pan. It takes heat to break it down. Takes heat & fuel to make it acidic. Heat being the key catalyst.
      Once a year is fine. Or every 5 years, in the case of my F-150. Oil isn't going bad sitting in the garage most of the year.

    Filter #1 looks like rusting and my guess is because it was on the truck for far longer than they are rated for use. That is the result of condensation from being on the truck for over 2 years when Amsoil recommends only 25K miles or 1 year whichever comes first. Don't blame the filter folks blame the owner.

First Brands was formerly know as Trico (the wiper blade company) but is a multi-national corporation that produces for both aftermarket and OEM. You will notice cross pollination of the brands when comparing base plates, center tubes and by-pass valves. Many of Amsoils filters are made by Fram but with production facilities all over the world, and First Brands being the parent company of the filter manufacturers, it's possible to get them from a multitude of facilities. My last batch of Amsoil filters were made at the Fram facility in Greenville, Ohio.

    You need to do a side by side comparison with a filter that went 20,000 miles on one truck and another truck with the same powertrain that did 5,000 miles changed the same day. A filter that has been sitting for years will obviously look worse because the used contaminated oil was exposed to oxygen and moisture and will go acidic. Of course it’s going to look sludged compared to a recent filter. Please do another legitimate test with the miles stated above changed the same day or close to.

That's TOO nice of a truck to maintain it like Amsoil WANTS u to do. I have 21,000 miles on my Prius, FAITHFULLY change it 6mos/5,000 miles whether it needs it or not & Im a senior who gets under my car in my driveway. Im due to change it in May. My oil is STILL clean. Has 0 SLUDGE. You are shortening the life of your ICE. Why do Amsoil videos use CLEANERS??? If u change it enough, u don't NEED additives. Amsoil products & their philosophy are for "FLEET" services ONLY. U know, companies who use vehicles excessive for daily use & want to keep maintenance costs down. I'm wasting money? I GUARANTEE I will have no major engine repairs & for the price of new vehicles, it's not worth the risk for me. Buy a used one? Would I REALLY buy a vehicle maintained like Amsoil preaches?🤔 Thank goodness for Pete for showing us his analysis & guides us to good decisions.

    The owner should use Mobil 1 Extended Protection or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and change their oil every 5K miles. I know Amsoil Signature is expensive and supposed to last a long time. but 15K miles is too long of an oil change interval. It's not a matter of oil breakdown, but also a mater of engine and oil cleanliness. As you proved in a prior video, those Amsoil filters are made by Fram, and the minor differences were just differences between one production run and another.
