Hearing “we were scared of the consequences of doing our jobs and protecting people” after listening to the earlier story about cops beat a man to death is so insane.

Especially when you think about how qualified immunity protects the officers from violations of the law when they are in commission of a valid policing action and are acting in good faith. And this just adds more fuel onto the fire explaining why no one can trust cops.
Because that's what happens when the people who need to be held accountable the most are in control of the tools that are meant to hold them accountable.
Because the point of bodycams was never to actually increase transparency, it was to get the public to shut up and forget about solving the root of the problem. IE: rebuilding the justice system/police system from the ground up. This is literally the exact same as a shut-up ring.
To the public? That could breach the privacy of non-officers. To another authority? The authority could simply not release it to the public and get around the problem that I said.
@shotgunbunny You know what? I don't even trust them in bathrooms. You let them turn off only in bathrooms, and all of a sudden black people just start dropping like flies bathrooms.

It should be election interference which is a pretty serious federal crime. (But federal cogs turn even slower than state ones so it might be a while before we see what charges result on a federal level. Just like with J6 traitors.) Ironically one that conservatives are constantly trying to accuse democrats of. Every accusation is a confession.
@@GeteMachineIt is. Destroying a mailbox is a federal crime, and considering how ballot boxes are also owned by the government, destroying one of those is a crime too. Also it’s election interference.
So, a man gets the cops called on him dozens of times for threatening his neighbor, culminating in him shooting said neighbor, and THAT's when the police decide it's time to show some restraint? "He failed to come to the door" Oh, well, good to know they approached this whole situation with the same urgency of a missed Amazon delivery.
You just know that if their races were swapped the first threat would end with him on a chokehold. Why are your men scared of being prosecuted O’Hara? How are you treating other black civilians under your jurisdiction?
It's Minneapolis, what do you expect? Liberals and the democratic government cut funding and the police force after the city was set on fire by BLM rioters.

It’s ridiculous. Imagine if any other bureaucrat or civil servant had this. Imagine if an IRS agent started slamming your head against the wall because you forgot to pay your taxes. We already threaten to abolish the IRS when they don’t do that, yet with cops it’s like “keeping going you’re doing great”.
How do you know he was a Trump loyalist? It's not as if Kamala supporters (Antifa) would go around burning ballot boxes in places like Washington and Portland.
The mayor of Phoenix also thought it was random act and not politically motivated. That guy had a criminal history. However, the devices used to destroy ballots on October 8 had "Free Gaza" and "Free Palestine" on them.
As a Black person, it's infuriating to see these two starkly different narratives play out. One story: a Black man murdered by police officers. The next: a white man who shot a Black man in the neck, facing lenient consequences. It's clear that racism is a significant factor, but the systemic issues within law enforcement are equally troubling. It seems that if you're not a Black man, you can get away with far more. I'm exhausted by this constant cycle of injustice.
The thing that really gets me in the mundane reaction to it all. People say oh no and act shocked then just move on. Nobody stays outraged they just see it as a blip and move on because it's not their communities being over policed. Its not their friends being stop and frisked. It's not their loved ones being killed while the killer can walk away with job and slap on the wrist.

US Cops will force their way into your home and search it with the officer safety excuse that you might have a gun inside, but if they actually believe that they don't dare step inside.
One tip for those who are worried about drop boxes getting damaged, try to search online for places to drop off your ballots in a place like a city hall or a government building. At least where I live, they’re usually inside and people are usually inside to watch over the boxes!
The last story about fires Phil mentioned was about someone setting a fire to a mailbox not an election drop box. So it's certainly possible the person had another reason to burn the mail in that mailbox. He certainly could be lying too, someone that would set fire to a mailbox or an election drop box is likely not someone you could trust to tell the truth or even be sane if they thought that was a good idea.
What crazy is in Florida a truck carrying ballot drop boxes, the ballot drop boxes fell out of the truck and citizens had to return it to police when they found them in the streets. And they don't know how many ballot drop boxes are missing.
I just cant grasp how cops just get away with this. It is literally abusive and surely illegal? The layers and layers of absolute awfulness in this are just hard to to grasp. I feel for his family and i am appalled that the cops are facing no real consequences.
I wouldn't say Jon Stewart "defended" Tony Hinchcliffe. He more so criticized Trump and his team for hiring a comedian and allowing the jokes at the rally. Tony was just doing what Tony does, which is why it was incredibly stupid to prop him up at a political rally.
Cops should not be allowed to turn off their body camera. It should be controlled by a 3rd party that they have to radio in order to get permission for it to be deactivated.
Good idea in theory but quite easy to exploit. If they're police they'll cover for them if their civilians might intimidate them. It needs to automated and automatically backed up
@aliengranpa It simply comes down to a question of storage. Say a cop is on duty for 6 hours, that would be at least 6 hours of footage that would need to be stored on the body cam. That would drive up the price & make it less likely to be used in-field because it would have to be protected better, thus making it heavier & more cumbersome. A lot of the video will be inconsequential footage, sitting in traffic, driving, normal stuff. If the idea is to capture everything of a cop's shift on camera then the hard drive would have to be swappable, but those would have to have a special compartment in a police cruiser so they don't get damaged or lost. It would then also be problematic if 2 minutes into an arrest, or car chase, whatever, the hard drive stops recording because it ran out of space. The unfortunate thing is, is that the cop being able to turn the body cam on at the beginning of the police action is what works best in a cost effective way. Should police have actually effective punishments for not turning on their bodycam, or turning it off part-way through an arrest? Yes absolutely. Is it going to happen? No probably not.
@@thelonelybritV2 body cams and dash cams have been used for decades. We have ssds with over 100 terabytes of strage. Even beyond that we have whole server rooms capable of servicing just our country for national databases. Storage has not been an issue since the late 90s. The standard body cam can record up to 8 consecutive hours. There are many that can record longer. They also have swappable batteries and SD cards. And why would they need a special compartment? If their trunk and bags are good enough for evidence, including electronics, videos, photos, camera, biological evidence, then why is it not for an SD card, recording evidence of the encounter? Either you take the police union for their word, even when they proved it has no value or truth, or you have gotten so focused on your excuse that you didn't do any critical thinking.
To clarify, John Stewart was not defending Tony Hinchcliffe. He was saying, "what did you expect?" And then, like he always does, used it as a segway into asking why are we focusing on the obvious, stupid, little fish, and not on the literal words of the literal man running for president that are materially much worse.
I mean, he did defend him. Defranco cut off Stewart's segment. Stewart then played clips of Hinchcliffe from the Tom Brady roast, telling far more offensive jokes, and he was laughing at said jokes and admitted he found him funny. Because that is what roast comedy and dark comedy is about. And I agree with Jon. It's stupid to get worked up about comedy. And although I'm not republican, I did see Hinchcliffe's set at the convention, and the democrats are taking one joke out of many, not even the most offensive one. Hinchcliffe takes over the top shots at everybody. Jews, Arabs, whites, blacks, latinos, etc. The only reason why democrats are trying to blow this up into something serious is because latinos are a key demographic that has been shifting to the right, and they're hoping that they can blow this up into a controversy and make some Latinos change their minds. They won't. Right leaning latinos can take a joke and are probably more likely to laugh at the joke. The only latinos who are going to get offended at the joke are the ones way out there on the left. So no, this will have no impact on voting.
@@turinturambar347 I normally like this kind of dark offensive comedy, but I think what matters here is the context. If you're doing at a standup show then sure you can play the "it's comedy/just a joke/subjective/I do it to everyone." However, given that he made these jokes at a Republican rally when there is clear support for Trump from right wing extremists (who he also doesn't denounce) it seems less comedy and more purposeful degrading of the "other" (other in this case being people of colour).
@@turinturambar347 But it's not a roast of a football player!!! Stewart always has been an apologist stooge for the wealthy class - he was always APPROVED and CONTROLLED "opposition." @@SmokeyChipOatley Mind you, we just heard a story about a deaf and disabled black man being punched in the face seconds after police first made contact as he was walking away from them a few weeks ago.
The story about the cops is honestly so scary. Not only did the crime happen but the fact that someone can get away with it for so long almost makes you lose faith in the system to some degree 😢
It’s important to note that everything Tony said was on a teleprompter. Which means it was vetted, and written down, and not a single person was like. Hmm maybe this isn’t the time or place for this material
They actually wanted credit for getting him to not call Kamala a c*nt. They were bragging about it, which means they did read his material and that was the only part they thought went too far.
I have seen his other standup and roasts before, and while they are intentionally racist, bigoted, misogynistic, or anti-Semitic, in the right setting they can be hysterically funny. But it's far less so when you place them side-by-side with a political faction that says these same things mirthlessly, promoting a party agenda that means to actively dissemble the very people Hinchcliffe was making jokes about. It feels like someone from the Trump campaign watched the same roast sketches and thought to himself, "this guy gets it," and decided to use him as a surrogate for their campaign, without really seeing how damaging that would be when taken in the larger context of a right wing rally. It does fall in line with their persecution complex where they say deliberately inflammatory things unironically, and then try to play it off as "just a joke" when they weren't really being funny, just so they can cry about it being an infringement on their free speech (like that other guy on CNN who implied Mehdi Hasan was an Israeli target for supporting a terrorist organization - you know, totally played for the laughs 🙄). That's not the issue at stake - you ARE free to say those things, but people are equally within their rights to call you a f*cking pr!ck for saying it. I'm a firm believer that no topic is considered taboo when it comes to comedy, no matter how touchy the subject, but that only some comedians have figured out the correct formula for making those subjects funny and palatable to a larger audience. You can even be a great comic and still tell a bad joke in poor taste, one that your audience will not laugh at. It's not the audience's reaction that is at fault, it's that the person telling the joke hasn't found the right tone or method to convey it that gets the majority of people in the room laughing along. Hinchcliffe knew these jokes would land with the people in attendance and would piss off the rest of the viewers outside MSG, solely for the reason that even though he doesn't have these beliefs personally, the ones organizing the event and running for office really do see the world and its people through that very lens. At that stage, it's less of a comedy set, and more of a stump speech for MAGA values.
@ i agree, i usually really like the kill tony sets, i love the trumo impressions the doctor phil impressions the other comics that come up, the back and forth where we all know its a joke. Watching what Tony said the jokes are obviously jokes, theyre just being delivered to the wrong audience in the wrong setting at the wrong time. I believe there were other people who came up and made some other racists comments as well both before and after tony. He was obviously joking but this is neither the time nor place. I forget who said it when i was watchinh coverage but i couldnt agree more with their statment "its always a joke... until it isnt"
exactly. in a normal setting it's just run-of-the-mill bad taste comedy, but at the rally it felt really dark and intentional when he was surrounded by other, more agressive speakers who genuinely believe those things unironically.
It is absolutely INSANE in America that your cops can have VIDEO FOOTAGE OF MURDER, hide it until charges get dropped, then face zero consequences after it gets released. Are there REALLY no retrial laws for "Oh hey turns oit we actually have video footage of the murder"??

I’ve been in Louisiana for most of my life. And the amount of misconduct that goes down with the state troopers is so disgusting and unfortunately not surprising. I remember back in 2013 before body cams was really a mandated thing. I was driving home with my then pregnant wife, we were pulled over by a state trooper because the light bulb over my license plate was out. Before I could even fully stop the car and find out why I was even pulled over, the officer had his gun drawn and was standing behind his door as if I was somehow a threat to him. When he finally decided it was maybe a good idea to put his gun away he walked up to my car, realized my wife was in the car and 8 months pregnant and decide to just let me go home. I’ll never forget him saying “let’s not worry about what happened here” before sending me off. This story hits really close to home and it’s so sad to hear how they just got off free.

In fairness, I think Jon Stewart's "defense" was fairly sarcastic. The Daily Show posted the whole "report" on UA-cam, and he devolves into outrage at the very end. I think he was more defending that form of comedy, then what was expressly said during the bit. I don't know. My interpretation of it, though
He was responding to conservatives distancing themselves from his jokes. "You brought a roast comedian to a rally and he roasted stuff, what did you think was gonna happen?" type of thing. But yeah you're right.
This is a good point. John Stewart's words didn't strike me as defending what happened at that rally, but more of making fun of whoever hired that comedian to be there. It's not like said comedian hasn't done this kind of set before.
Came here to say exactly what you just said. Stewart is a comedian and he has an insider knowledge of how roast comedy works; my take was that he was dripping with sarcasm in his “defense” of hinchcliff.
Yeah. I would put it as rather than defending Tony specifically, he was forwarding the blame onto a campaign very comfortable hiring a known racist comedian for what ended up being an overwhelmingly racist event. Tony did what he does. It wasn't a total turn around of his usual material. The Trump campaign knew exactly what they were getting when they hired him and were 100% okay with it. You don't blame a clown for being hired by a circus.
It would have been funny if he mentioned the context of Leila de Lima's freeing from imprisonment as a sign of how everyone in the Philippine political spectrum are banding together to get rid of the Dutertes slowly and (hopefully) once and for all. Which is itself ironic since the VP, a Duterte, ran with current president on a platform of "Unity." 😂😂😂 It's always good to see thr Dutertes losing their political ground week by week. If we are going to get a corrupt, dictatorially-inclined piece of shit president, might as well deal with the one that's, at the very least, willing to defend our maritime sovereignty (albeit for political reasoning), as well as being unwilling to sell our country to the biggest geopolitical threat we have seen since Imperial Japan (Obviously the CCP).
With the WaPo story, my focus has shifted from, "wow, can't believe they are choosing the year when one candidate is open, out and about fascist to stop endorsements" to "holy shit that is a disturbing number of billionaires and hedge funds running printed news media and having the final say on what gets published, oh and also they can just put themselves on the front page, yeah that seems fucked"
Yeah, Bezos is so full of shit. This erodes trust further, not the other way around. Because it's plain to see that the billionaires control the media, and let's be honest - fascism is good for capitalism - they'll do whatever makes them money. So I think they're trying to stay away from the fact that they want the fascist without actually just saying it.

I’ll point out to Phil, John Stewart wasn’t really “defending” Hinchcliffe since that sentence was a setup to a comment about how “roast comedy” at a political rally is absolutely punching down and mixes very much with the very real political speakers calling same said people “the enemy.” And how it was journalistic malpractice for the media to focus on the comedian when Trumps part of the speech was way more directly worse about how he intends to “round people up.”
Yeah, I agree. I watched the Daily Show last night, and not once did I get the idea that Jon Stewart was defending Tony Hitchcliffe. Phil took that moment way out of context.

When it came to Jon Stewart "defending" Tony Hitchcliffe, I personally don't think it is really a defense but more like saying that this is what was expected from him, and the Trump Campaign still let him perform. He was just saying, "To the people who are surprised that he made these jokes, don't be. He has done this before on stage and that's why he was brought in. He's not going to apologize because that is what he normally does." However, the Trump Campaign just insulted millions of people by letting him say this at Trump's rally. They knew he would say stuff like this and still let him on. Tony doesn't have to do any damage control, but the Trump Campaign does.

As a Black woman born and raised in Mississippi, could you please do a trigger warning for any stories where police brutalize a Black man? Where the police arrested and charged a 10 year little Black boy who used the bathroom outside a building that did not have a public bathroom. Where the degenerate reject cops from the neighboring county have come to work and manhandled and arrested two young Black girls for walking in the neighborhood and daring to talk back. The year being 2024 doesn’t matter. The abuse of power by white people of authority against Black people is still very prevalent. The schools where I’m from did not integrate until the 1970s. I'm one of the people who canceled my Washington Post subscription. While I rely on a variety of news sources, the Post was my main source for national and international news. I actually agree with the points Bezos makes in his article, too. I really do believe ending endorsements will help rebuild trust in media even if that mistrust wasn't warranted in many cases. The timing of this decision is so bad that it makes all of that irrelevant. It changes what could be a business decision and turns it into a political decision and I can't trust a paper where the owner is exerting this sort of control over the editorial board. Exerting control is expected, but a last minute pulling of an endorsement is meddling in individual decisions which is not ok
As a Brit the whole idea of presidential endorsements is so alien to me. If you are a newpaper your whole job should be to report the truth and educate people on what each party represents, and how that will affect your reader, to the best of your ability. Not go 'hey you like our newspaper, so vote for who our editors reckon you should', it's irresponsible! Individuals, sure tell people who you like but there is no place in jounalism for political endorsements. Besides they dont need them when they can sway their viewers purely with what and how they report the news!
As a Brit, your main source is very dependent on government allowance however. So it's not entirely different, such as when the BBC changes journalistic standards while the Tories are in office. Germany faces the same issue as populism rises, which I see as an American immigrant. The endorsements are mostly more blatant.

Cops should not be allowed to turn off their body camera. It should be controlled by a 3rd party that they have to radio in order to get permission for it to be deactivated.
Good idea in theory but quite easy to exploit. If they're police they'll cover for them if their civilians might intimidate them. It needs to automated and automatically backed up
I don't see why turning them off is even an option. Other than using the bathroom police shouldn't mind having every second of their shift recorded.
I hope they turn it off and pay you a visit.

That’s incorrect. Tony was working off his set notes
It is absolutely INSANE in America that your cops can have VIDEO FOOTAGE OF MURDER, hide it until charges get dropped, then face zero consequences after it gets released. Are there REALLY no retrial laws for "Oh hey turns oit we actually have video footage of the murder"??

As an MN resident, our police have always been more into the idea of glory than actually keeping people safe. They love jumping at the chance to do something they think will be "easy" and "safe" that makes them look good.
Funny how when a black man with a legal firearm (that he tells the officer about) the black man is murdered. When a white man threatens and then SHOOTS his black neighbor, he can sit in his house watching The Boys until he runs out of Pabst.

At this point, I'd recommend anybody stay away and/or move from Louisiana

And at that point what can he really fo but come out? No point in putting more lives in danger. I disagree with what they did, but I understand the logic. Not quite as cowardly as Uvalde. In that situation lives were in active danger and they didn't act.

How do you set a ballot drop box on fire without it being politically motivated
In fairness, I think Jon Stewart's "defense" was fairly sarcastic. The Daily Show posted the whole "report" on UA-cam, and he devolves into outrage at the very end. I think he was more defending that form of comedy, then what was expressly said during the bit. I don't know. My interpretation of it, though
He was responding to conservatives distancing themselves from his jokes. "You brought a roast comedian to a rally and he roasted stuff, what did you think was gonna happen?" type of thing. But yeah you're right.
My thoughts exactly.
Filipino canadian here...did a double take when the Duterte portion of the video started. Thank you for covering it!!
I’m just curious why there was no conversation about Blue Origin meeting with Trumps people just before this as well. It’s not like politicians or bosses don’t speak through intermediaries.

There is zero way that Girdursky could've confused Medhi saying Palestinian's with Hamas. The man knew exactly what he was doing. It shouldn't surprise anyone because this is largely what conservative pundits do when they are interacting with their left wing counter parts. It’s the news. You should just always assume the worst.
police brutality is disgusting
So....why does the department of homeland security not say who's voters are discussing targeting ballot drop boxes? We all know who they are...
Yeah, that story got buried quick
I saw a few screenshots of people talking about it on truthsocial. And everyone knows that isn't a diverse user base.
those dirty green party bastards cant keep getting away with it.
@andremartinez418 yeah, makes sense that the only voters concerned about election integrity would be sharing info that is oddly being buried on msm. Maybe it was you?
I dont think "Jon Stewart defended Tony" should be on here. A bit misleading from what he actually said.
Totally agreed
He defended Tony because Jon is also a comedian. He needs to defend in order to not be a hypocrite.
Yeah, "defending" is quite the stretch.
@Gretchen_Trouble not when you realize they are both comedians.
Nothing to defend though.
Google pointing the Antitrust finger at Microsoft is the equivalent of building a trebuchet inside of a glass house and firing it at your neighbor. They both need to be (legally) dismantled into tiny, tiny little companies.
I live in Vancouver, WA. Super grateful that we'll now have ballot-watchers but it's disappointing we need them. I think offering in-person voting as well as mail-in ballots would be wiser for those who don't trust delivery methods anymore.
Are you disappointed that there are security guards and cameras at banks, too?
@@lisettegarciathere is a precedent for security at banks because people steal money.
The destruction of ballots and ballot boxes is unprecedented. So yes, it’s disappointing that people are more and more blatant and violent in their attempts to undermine democracy.
I’m so sick of people undermining how insane things have gotten. It sucks. We are allowed to be disappointed and we are allowed to call it out. Not every expression of disappointment and disbelief is naiveté, and you are not superior because you are apathetic.
@lisettegarcia For the past 20 years Washington has exclusively used mail-in ballots, and ballot boxes have not required 24/7 monitoring. So yes, that is a disappointing development.
@@HjartaoHav Dems have controlled the white house for 16 of the past 20 years. Maybe they're just nervous it won't be a cakewalk this time. People get crazy when they fear they're losing power. Especially in a formerly blue stronghold like Seattle.
Tired of the "it was just a joke" defense
It's always "just a joke" until they're rounding people up
The fact we are still talking about it but not seeing more coverage of the actual crisis is sad both campaigns could be making a big dust up with how big a issue it is
Harris's campaign could be using it as a call for PR to be a state for more aid or something
And trumps campaign could be blasting Biden for giving money to Ukraine over Hawaii and PR
When it's from an actual comedian, it can fly. I don't blame the professional comedian, I blame the political event where those sort of jokes should be completely unwelcome and undesired. Because that shit ain't funny when youre not joking with the subjects of the joke.
Especially because if you look at them sideways they cry. They’re the biggest snowflakes.
@Mama_Bear524 well the left can't be honest about anything of course they are they can't even be honest about bidens mental condition or that Clinton abused kids
This episode had two stories to show us that Cops do not protect & serve and won’t save you
And it doesn't matter whether it's a blue state or a red state.
they protect and serve the goals of the white patriarchy, not everyday people.
Companies at this time don't need to endorse any presidential candidate. Everyone knows where they stand. Where you do frequently find articles?
I think in the next decade it *may* help their numbers.
I use the bus station frequently where the Ballot box in Washington was destroyed, I used that very box to cast my vote just days before the fire took place. Thankfully I got the confirmation that my ballot was counted and there's no worries. So crazy how this happens and I am so ready for election season to be over!
That take of John Stewart is on his side is ignoring he is a comedian on a comedy show... he basically said "what did you expect" not that he was justified.
Don't have to justify jokes. Social context. If you don't get it, It's just a harder life for you. No one else's problem.
@@AlkaRez the fucking context is that it was at a rally where other people were spewing the same rhetoric. So to say they were only jokes when other people came up and said the same sentiments but not under the guise of "comedy", well, that's disingenuous at a base level.
Ballot boxes burning is terrifying.
That is what democrats do to stay in power.
It really is because it's just saying that there are people out there that either want Trump to win so badly that they are going to destroy votes, or they want Kamala to win so badly that they're going to destroy votes. They're crazy's on both sides of this election. And there are also some really sane. People, but like this is getting crazy and out of hand.
This is fucking sick🤮🤢
Combating "voter fraud" by committing voter fraud. The logic is outstanding.
@@finn_underwood youtube Deleted my comment.
An important part of comedy is knowing that the audience understands you are joking and do not actually believe the messed up stuff you say. When you tell these jokes to a massive crowd that YOU KNOW believe in bigoted things, it’s no longer a joke. And no one can trust that you don’t actually just mean what you are playing off as funny.
Wait....so NOW the cops are afraid to get prosecuted for their actions??? What happened to Qualified Immunity???
Calling bigotry a joke is the lamest excuse ever.
So you’re saying in the U.S. I can shout racist slurs, vandalise property, and harass people and if I don’t come to my door I avoid any penalties?
Only if you’re white
I guess it helps if you are a whyt male.
Exactly. I'm in Canada and fully back this move. This is why people don't trust the media.
As a Brit, your main source is very dependent on government allowance however. So it's not entirely different, such as when the BBC changes journalistic standards while the Tories are in office. Germany faces the same issue as populism rises, which I see as an American immigrant. The endorsements are mostly more blatant.
@@kingofhearts3185 I don't trust most media because it's owned by a bunch of billionaires and ran as a for-profit corporation first and a public service second.
The majority of your papers are just tabloid rags. In fact it was the extreme bias from your news media that lead to your horrible exit from the European Union via Brexit. Your grass isn’t greener. It’s just as dead and ugly as ours.
I mean... I'm also a brit, but our media has been owned by the same, very biased and skewed interests for a long, long time. Most of it is in the control of very shady parties like Rupert Murdoch, and look up Robert Maxwell (father of Ghislaine...) if you want to reveal even further murkiness, but that is another story...
As a result the UK press is famously biased, and you rarely see real honest reporting across any of the media we have thrown at us. Just the results of Brexit show how effective the controlled narrative has been recently and is unfortunately far from fair and balanced (TM).
F these cops. F the south. I know it’s not everyone there. You want everyone to get along? Stop letting this type of stuff happen where you live. It’s on you too
This is not a problem isolated to the south. Virtually every state has had cases like this at some point. A lot of cities/counties on the East and West Coast are negligent and refuse to prosecute pedophiles etc. There needs to be some kind of federal oversight that audits police agencies.
Why you trying to start a coast war over police brutality? You gotta think before you type fam. Where do you live where police brutality doesn’t happen? Canada? Were you instrumental in the deterrence of corruption in your local police department of something?
I want better cops, better corporations, and better candidates.
Don't worry guys when Phil forgets the time stamps you can separate each segment by whichever shirt he's wearing. My dude literally wears like 5 different shirts per episode
every single day, with stories like Ronald Greene's murder being covered up so confidently and discarded, im reminded that this world just doesnt want black people like me in it, and will actively enjoy do everything in its power to make sure black people like me arent in it... im so tired... whats even the point anymore... why do i try so hard to stay if the world is so enthusiastic to take me out anyway... im so tired...
I’m sorry that the world has made you feel like you’re not wanted. My words as an internet stranger may not matter, but you’re important, your voice matters, and you are wanted here.
White guy here so please take my comment from a place of ignorance. This poor man ended up dead after a chase. Why was he speeding away from cops in the first place? Maybe he had done something or maybe it was because he was freaking terrified of cops! At this point, honestly if I was a black man in the US, I'd freaking run from cops too!
Which means that people are (justifiably!) more tense around cops, which leads to more confrontations, which leads to more violence, which makes people more tense. The situations escalating and escalating.
While on the other side you have a white, known violent guy shoot his black neighbor and the cops are sending him politely worded invitations rather than addressing the situation. It's a messed up system with a built in cycle of worse and worse outcomes for black folk. It's so painful to see and know there is almost nothing I or any regular person can do to stop it.
But all that said, you _are_ wanted and appreciated in this world. I'm a trans guy and yeah, it sucks hearing the hate on a daily basis. But we are in this together, wherever we are. Things will get better. It just hurts to be living in the time before it does.
the world would be worse off without you. it's fucking exhausting, you're right. maybe if we keep going, fighting when we have the strength and surviving when we don't, maybe things'll get better.
The media wants you to believe you're doomed because of your skin color. They want you to believe that you are being held back because of your ethnicity to distract you from the fact that you are actually being held back because of your class. Race is a distraction. Regardless of their background, every American citizen who isn't a billionaire is on the same side - whether they realize it or not.
I cried its disheartening. 😢
Jon Stewart did not defend him. He pointed out that this is the shit Hinchcliffe does and that no one should be surprised.
That's literally defending him. Saying oh well that's just him. Many don't know who Tony is nor is it acceptable just because that's who he is. 🙄
He absolutely did. Why are so many of his fans rushing to his defense when he apparently wasn't defending anything? Listen to yourselves justify his justifications... it's sad.
Thank you for reminding me to vote Phil! I will make sure to vote early and remind all my other like minded friends and family. Trump 2024!!
Wanting to increase trust in papers and news while also simultaneously exposing that only the richest of the richest own all these papers specific individuals are that can do literally whatever they want. That’s terrifying.
Indeed! Especially when they are so politically biased: wanting us to believe the Hunter Biden laptop story was fake, that Biden was coherent, "60 Minutes" changing Kamala's answers in her favor, etc...
"So This is How Liberty Dies, With Thunderous Applause"
I keep thinking of this quote too.
U guys are gay
Bring back Today In Awesome!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Let's bring up the up votes on this one
As an European it is bizarre to me that a NEWS outlet was endorsing a presidential candidate in the first place.
Bias? Eh sure. Outright endorsement? How is that even allowed?
Ryan Girdusky's reaction seems completely disingenuous, to me, both in-the-moment and after-the-fact. And Abby Phillip characterizing it as, "completely out of pocket," is spot-on. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
