    THANK YOU SO MUCH I find any tear down guides to fix my laptop of this model thanks to HP's website breaking down (as usual 🙄) and this really helped me fix it. The hinges came out and 2 of the screw support that connected the base to the hinges. The final 3rd screw is what I put back in and is now holding up the entire screen 😬 but hopefully it lasts for a long time. Thank you!

    This is quite helpful, as they have advertised this badboy being for sale on Best Buy's website. You actually give us a thorough view of the innards. I think you can upgrade the RAM to DDR4-3200 and the max amount of RAM it can handle is 64GB. This definitely confirms that it is plausible. Thanks a ton.

    Thanks bud. My daughter dropped it (she said it just fell) with the screen open. Now the screen part wobbles a bit and I can see a tiny crack by the ethernet port on the shell. It takes a bit of force to open it. It functions just fine. I don't know if it wobbles because of the crack or the pressure to open it. But this video will help.

    Well, thanks to my 8 year old son LOL, I am about to change my screen also. My question has 2 parts.
    Can you share with me where you ordered your replacement screen from? So I can order one myself. I assume the replacement screen itself has some model number associated with it also.
    And the other question I have pertains to upgrading the memory I noticed in the video you made comment that you could add another 8 GB memory card doubling the memory capacity of this model while you were in there oh, so since I'm going to have to take this laptop apart to replace the screen I might as well do that while I am doing it why not twice the speed right lol. Would you happen to also know where I can order that memory card to add to it and any model number associated with that so that I can just order it off their website?
    Thank you for any help you can provide

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  3 роки тому +1

      Screen you can get the model number on the sticker on the back of LCD. I ordered from eBay or Amazon. The RAM you want to check the sticker on the ram. Match the model like pc3 pc4 and the speed like 2666 2400 1800 etc. Size if adding a stick should match as well. If replacing, size and be anything.

      @@ItsBinhRepaired I have not opened the laptop yet, but the model number is the exact same one that you did in your video, the HP 17-by3613dx. So I'm thinking the screen and memory chips would be the same ones, as you had in your video. I know the specs. From HP when I looked up my serial number on their website said it has an 8gb ddr4 2666mhz 1x8. Installed. I found a company named Crucial that sells a kit to upgrade the memory on this model. I was thinking of taking the old 8gb memory chip and and upgrading with 2 new chips to the
      Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 SODIMM. Kit number CT2K16G4SFRA32A.
      For $168.99. Does this sound like it would work? And if I did that, I should not need to backup the windows software on the computer right? As I believe that lives on the hard drive.
      As far as the screen goes I have found many different companies selling the screens. But all of them state that I need to make sure it is a left side 30 pin connector. But from what I understand from my research the only screen that was put in that model from HP was the one that you installed which if I believe I am correct was a left side 30-pin connector correct?
      I am also wondering if it is possible to upgrade the screen to be a higher-definition screen since I am replacing it but I'm pretty sure that will probably be a problem.
      It came with a solid-state 256gb hard drive, I would like to upgrade that to a terabyte but I have a feeling that I'm going to get into a software issue, where I would probably have to back up the windows program and everything to reinstall it on the new hard drive am I correct?
      I am very capable of the hardware part of changing out things, the labor side of it, as I am an electrician by trade. I have had to change out fans before on laptops but I've never had to do a screen or change out the hard drives and stuff like that, as the software side of things worries me a bit lol.
      Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially if what I have stated above sounds like it will all work.

    This HP model was my covid quarantine purchase. The casing is super weak and poor quality.I think it’s designed to break after a certain time. My case cracked where it attached the screen. What a terrible design! The plastic that holds the screen can be so easily snapped. Also it's very hard to change the keyboard on this laptop. These manufacturers need to be accounted for bad designs, and hit with some kind of eco lawsuit. So far I find Lenovo making laptops that easy to open and repair. Dell, Asus, HP started making those weird designs where the keyboard gets integrated into the top cover and fused with plastic holders.
