  • Hi friends :) The moment you've all been waiting for, what most of you voted on in last weeks Instagram story poll ... the story of my horrible store manager. You may have seen her in my skits portrayed as the manager who is too busy "writing the schedule" to do anything. Welp, surprise! 'Twas not an exaggeration. Allow me to elaborate...

Starbucks was the worst job i ever had. I couldnt stand my co workers or the customers but i did like my boss. Its wierd because I know a few people who worked for starbucks in the mid 90s and they said it is an entirely different experience today.

I had a store manager tell me at MY REVIEW that even though I show up on time daily she wasnt going to score me as high because I wasn't available to pick up shifts. You know the ones outside of my availability because I'm in college. 🙃
A later manager I had, the one I finally quit on, was training a new SSV on closing tasks and scheduled herself all the amazing partners and had 3 closers not counting herself and the training SSV and one of the baristas later told me "she was like, yeah I don't understand how you guys don't normally get out on time?" I was LIVID. Not only did she set herself up for nothing but success, but I was her mid-shift. I gave her a great turnover something I didn't ever get as a courtesy from her.

You should have called partner services once she didn't take your safety into consideration.
When I was pregnant with my youngest I was working at Dunkin - this is about 15 years ago for reference. Similar enough to Starbux things in there are also tight and drama can be similar. I was nearly 30 at the time and tried my best not to get involved in most of it.
I don't remember now what started it, but there was this one girl who worked with us who decided to threaten to "beat that baby out of me." And she said it on the floor in front of several co workers. I walked off the floor and into the bathroom at the advisement of my 'work bestie' who then went to our manager.
I didn't think anything was going to come of me saying a word because we all knew this girl was tight with the manager. But I was seriously debating quitting because I was damned if I was going to let someone endanger my child.
Manager had pulled the other girl off the floor before I came out of the bathroom. I'd been taking long enough to calm down obviously. Come put and manager asks exactly what the girl said to me and I told her. Next thing I know the other girl is fired for threatening me.
I was shocked. Like I said we all knew they were tight.
But the manager told us later. Being tight didn't matter in this case. I could have charged her with assault. Everyone heard that threat. Manager knew she didn't have a choice but to follow through.
And although I didn't always see eye to eye with that manager she did take things related to my pregnancy seriously, including when I got so sick they had to send for an ambulance one day, and she would send me home if I was too far off my game because as she put it, I'd work myself to death if she didn't, and then where would my baby be? You deserved a better manager.

I love that the very first thing she did (admit blatant age discrimination) was sketch.

So I currently have a manager at my store like this and it’s driving me away I’ve only been with Starbucks for 5 months and my manager is an out hire, came from retail to Starbucks, and I love my job but it’s very difficult to work with them let alone frustrating that they’re “running the shift” but doesn’t remember to gives 10’s and tells us to clock out 5 min early to avails giving or taking lunches

You're deserving and legally required to have all your breaks - please remember that!

My first retail job I worked at for 1 year before quitting because of my manager. I was tired of her fucking up my schedule EVERY single week. I would literally go in on saturday and be like hey i need to know what the schedule for next week is and she would be like oh i still havent written it so im like am i working sunday or NOT 😭😭 this was during my first couple semesters at college, too, so i was very busy and needed to time manage well but having a manager that released the schedule so late made it SO difficult.
She also sat on her ass in the back 98% of the time and only came out if the district manager stopped by. Like there were several shifts where I was the only one on register during a WEEKEND and she would never come out. she always often forgot my lunch. idk why i let it slide but i worked several shifts without a break.
anyway the week i quit she got fired by the dm and replaced with an even worse manager (as i was told by my old coworkers who actually made my job fun) so im glad i left.

The part with your co worker wanting to fight you😂!! My coworker was screaming at me over me having more tables than her while working as waitresses at a restaurant. Screamed at me Infront of all the customers and the owner ! * we had no manager * owner witness everuthing. This girl wouldn't take my drinks or food to my tables *understaffed and everyone helped eachother* exept her !! Boss did nothing. While the owner went to Cuba as he does for a week every month, he told ME to be on my best behavior. I was pregnant 😂 and constantly told him my hormones are all over the place and I won't take the disrespect 😂 he never did anything. And I ended up quitting, and told him she was why! Or I would have worked till I was big and fat😂 super bummed bc I loved my job

Other employees who had "seniority" would always get more tables . With respect I never questioned it or got mad, saved tables for them, watched there's on there breaks 😂 this girl comes along way after me, and has the owner wanting us to count chairs and keep the numbers even 😂😂😂😂 because she had a problem with it😂 I'm very short and no one took me seriously 😅
