Using wind to save fuel

- Alaska Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch are saving fuel and reducing carbon emissions by using a new Boeing service that delivers real-time wind information to pilots so they can choose the most fuel-efficient approaches.
The 757 looks like it does because it uses the same flight deck as the 767 for fleet/flight crew commonality. The flight deck from the 767 is so wide and spacious that, to make it fit in the airframe, you step down into the 757 flight deck. In the 767 you step up.
That's why the 757 is the coolest looking airliner ever! :)
(Note: the 777 and the 747 are too)!
This Guy must be so lucky to have his username as Boeing.LOve the 747-8!By comparison, the A380 loooks like a rolling log
When changing your flight plan to the data received from Boeing will ATC always accommodate the pilot's request for altitude and heading request.
But that doesn't change maintenance will still have the APU running even if this function is not used so we still get savings.
Really interesting!!!
How do you source the wind info at different flight levels? is it "crowd-sourced" from other planes?
We've had this feature at Continental for several years. It's nothing new.
If it aint boeing, I ain't going
@upiluften no its a 757.
Well this might convince British Airways to get Boeing 738:s! :)
A pilot can fly for two airlines!!! I hope so. Also can a pilot fly different planes like an 837 then 757
Yes, i believe it's called a type rating
hi thee davidblackwell
they mentioned airbus' name. They're not so bias.
That will be a serious problem when the simulator has a mid-air collision with another simulator!!!
i miss back in the day when 707's didnt use noise abatement and they didnt care about fuel and boeings plane were stronger then anything else what happend? :'C
save 300lbs on descend, then maintenance runs the apu for 3 hours and burns 12000lbs
Boeing approved this comment?!!!
Seriously?!
1:40 Captain forgot to set TCAS to C mode at FL380.....:D
Yes!
Agreed!!!
KLMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMakes air travel great again :D
must be cool!
This guy is boeing i think its the offical channel
Does it make it any better on an Airbus aircraft? Nope...
@xAwsomeSkitx LOL!
why would you try and save fuel because you just dump feul before you land lol
@Follovvth3dream Not normally, only in an absolute emergency.
