In this video, I am trying to replace the kindle oasis 9th gen battery

Jesus, good video but the music is totally not compatible. I nearly cried because of some unseen tragedy.
Thank you so much for the advice ❤️😊
I saw a tragedy.... Did you not? :P
It´s a tragedy, in a way.
This is nuts - I found another video where someguy took a saw to the back - I thought it was a joke (and it was in that video) but I'm strongly considering taking a dremel to back and forgetting about the front. Thanks for taking one for the team @DIYeasy - you at least gave me a chance - I started to try the front but after a few minutes of zero progress, I came here and realized a frontal assault was indeed impossible. The dremel MIGHT work, although waterproofing is out unless one can sealed it again - still, better than just trashing the device.
So just to update - I work at a fire department and I have a pretty steady hand - and it was either throw it out or give it a shot - I Dremel it out the back right around the battery - I did a pretty good job and didn't hit the battery but there's not really any way to pull it off without tearing off the connections to the battery and to the charging port. And these are super small wires as well - there is another UA-cam video where someone talks about wiring it up it's in Spanish but you can put on the subtitles, but you're basically working upside down as well. Because the connection to the power on the circuit board is facing the front.
It's possible if you dremel off the entire section above the battery (instead of just around the battery) You might be able to access it but I tapped out this point. Good luck to anyone who tries us in the future.
Man they glued the screen in the middle too
Amazing video. Such an honest complete F up! Love it
Changing the battery on the earlier 6" Oasis is way easier.
I did it myself (battery cost $50AU!!) , but had to use a butter knife rather than the plastic tool that came with the battery to get the back off.
Changing the battery should be possible on a device that costs $400AU.
Thanks for this video. I was planning on changing the battery on mine. But now I know I’ll just have to charge it up nightly like it’s a cell phone.
thx you ! you're stop me teardown kindle oasis 9th!
I was going to do this - but glad I watched the video first. I'll leave my Kindle as it is. Its a shame these things aren't built to be serviceable. We live in such a wasteful society :(
😔
That’s the trade off for the water proofing and cost cutting I’m afraid. Just glue them all together then charge premium prices.
Just discovered this myself before seeing this video. It’s impossible to take apart without destroying the screen.
I’m so pissed off right now.
i fucked up mine a year ago doing the same thing. damn it and had to get a new one
@@claudetam4744 I feel ya. It was my wife’s. Had to order her a new one shortly after leaving my first comment.
Nice video! Sad to see that it is made to last just for some years... I will attached an light extern battery to my kindle!
Arghhh I’ve one that’s cracked but still works, the newer one? frozen. It just froze one a page one day and won’t unfreeze, battery still seems to work so no ideas what to do.
Amazon Kindle are a complete let down, these aren’t cheap & all they say is ‘ we can offer you a discount on your next one?’ i don’t want a discount i want the one i have to unfreeze! Why haven’t they got a repair department?!?
This device is not repairable, i think its freeze because of hardware issue 😔
you forgot to put in the new battery.
production without love for the universe - to make things without the possibility of repair
Thanks for the video. I guess I'll just be reading on a cracked Kindle Oasis until I can afford an Onyx Boox (Leaf 2). Damn Amazon 😮💨
This video makes me sad. I have an Oasis in my "Drawer of Dead and Obsolete Gadgets". It doesn't even need a new battery, it just locked up/bricked itself. It probably would reboot if I could completely disconnect power, but this is LITERALLY a disposable product. I bought a new Paperwhite which I use, but I really miss the Oasis side buttons. The ONLY advantage to my new, much cheaper Paperwhite is a USB-C connector. I actually would have bought a new Oasis if it was USB-C. My love/hate relationship with Amazon continues.
Thank you, so better sell my kindle, I thought it is easy to replace the battery
Yes 👍🏼
My Kindle froze up a few days ago and the LED light that indicates when the battery is charging or whe it is fully charged is also dead. Does anyone know if the battery is completely dead if the LED should still work when trying to charge it?
I bought two of these and they were not cheap, Not of course including the cases that were also expensive. One of them the battery died within a 2 year period! Contacted amazon about a battery change and got Stiff Shite. I will not buy another kindle nor recommend them to anyone I know. Especially after watching this they are just made to sell and make a profit off. Yes I am pretty Peeved about it as the earlier models were great. Sorry about the sour grapes But!
Otherwise great video thanks for the clarity, I won't bother trying to take the dead one apart.
Crazy, maybe more viable cutting from the back, but even that likely would need ot make a custom jumper cable to put in a new battery, sad...
Also crack screen on Oasis means dead ,no way to separate that. Do wonder if you went much hotter if there is anyway you could get it to separate, liekly damage the elctronics at that level of heat.
The screen and the body are factory attached, we cannot separate, and no other way to open 😔
Esta es la mejor película de terror que haya visto 😅
Is it possible on Oasis 10th gen?
Sorry... not sure
hi bro. is this black one stickly below under the lcd screen
Yes
@@diyeasy_in oh… I going to repair kindle oasis.but this is very sad.
btw,this screen is Fragile?
I don't think anybody can repair Oasis 😔
I'm watching this video to see how they made the device "waterproof". I just got mine really wet and I'm worried that water might be trapped inside now.
I really wish it were illegal for companies to make devices specifically so they cannot be repaired.
I imagine the Scribe was already in the development stage when the 7 inch Kindles were being prototyped and they said, "Oh, by the way, make the battery as shit as possible, and make it impossible to change the battery. We've got something new in development, so we have to make sure people purchasing this device will need to replace it once the new tablet is ready to hit the market."
How much glue do they use? It's ridiculous.
I think, it would have been easier if the kindle was placed on heating pad and then use a heat gun. It may have made the job easier
I'm really happy I bought the replacement battery before watching this(not). I guess I bought a new battery for nothing as this product is complete garbage for the money. It's clearly designed as single use.
Well that shows me that you can't change the battery!
Yes, we can't change the battery
People, it's not a repair, it's a battery change, that can't be done. in 50 years of electronics I have never seen an expensive item thrown away because of a battery
Yeah well… welcome to the new economy. $250 device needs complete replacement bc it won’t hold a charge after two years.😮
This isnt a teardown, this is a beating....
I tried to teardown, but because of the way of making, it's not possible to teardown properly
It is not beating 😔
It would have been quicker to reach your end result by throwing you Kindle at a wall or stamping on it maybe 🤔
Urgh! Even after you're in, the battery doesnt want to come out.
You f***ed up the screen
Omfg 😂 - If it's an old kindle just trade it in for a discount and some amazon credit. I got a 20% discount for trading in my old 7th gen paperwhite. Because the new Paperwhite was already on sale 27%, my full discount was 47% off!
I doubt Amazon will give you anything for it - because they know it can't be refurbished
@@blakemccorkle18 Yeah, he won't get anything now. I meant he should have sent it in for a discount, instead of trying to change the battery.
@@crisvis8905 Do you think that's still valid though? I didn't touch mine but it's a 9th gen I think it was released in 2017 - I guess the $20 credit is better than nothing but I am curious about the Dremel still - I had already ordered the battery so I have it on hand and based on that video I think I have a pretty good area of safety margin and I have a light touch too
Based on the teardown, I've learned that changing the battery might not be possible. You can still attempt it, but I'm doubtful it can be done successfully.
@@diyeasy_in if I attempt it, I will go through the back with a Dremel, cut out around - I can solder but I admit based on the video I saw, those are smalllll wires
