  • Preparing our widest slope. Knocking over the whales and spreading them across the slope to prepare for our first customers of the season. Three cats going hard for 4-5 days to get the basic shape and place the snow where we want it.

      If you look through the videos on my channel there’s a walk-around of the machine that has a little bit about the joystick 👍

      If I can find the time and some decent light I’ll do a full rundown on all the controls and everything on the machine. But it will take a while to mash together.

      Yep, I’m the oddball kiwi working in a Swedish ski area. I don’t speak Swedish, but I do speak a little snowcat.

    Why dont they put levelling cabs on them like the forestry stuff?

    • @pushnpow
      @pushnpow  Рік тому

      There’s no point. Forestry machines have to slew on a slope so being able to level the upper-structure makes them more stable and uses less torque when slewing on steep slopes. A levelling cab would have absolutely no use, it would just increase weight and make it difficult to see the blade.

    If you know your slope a gps is unnecessary. Not a chirp lol, clealy you know what you are doing. I never had the luxury of a gps.

      It’s more for depth mapping for our snow management and snowmaking system. The snowcats map the snow depth as they work and it gets sent to a database that overlays the snow depth on a terrain map for the snowmakers to look at. Then they can see the depth at the end of a shift and know where they should make snow next. It saves on unnecessary snowmaking and keeps the depth consistent. It also means new operators can adapt to the terrain faster and not waste snow and diesel pushing it where it isn’t needed.
      That’s the only time I’ve had gps on a snowcat, most resorts don’t have it but that resort does and it’s a useful tool.
