  • My dog, Nanook and I head out by boat to check some of the last beaver traps of the season in hopes of filling my mandatory minimum-harvest quota. Success means skinning and a cookout over the fire in celebration. Plus I share some of my plans for next week's video!

    I was told I was a disgrace when I ate beaver meat from my trap line in the 70s. Darn good in my opinion. That was an awesome video, very interesting. Thank you very much!

    That was the best beaver catch and cook I ever saw! From the grin on your face leaving the beaver house to the perfectly cooked meal this video was fire my dude!! You nailed it from start to finish with a Nanook assist that stole the show lol. Can't wait for your next camp, catch and cook fishing adventure bro. Congrats on meeting your quota! Yup. I do agree. Beaver is a fine meal . I recently made a roast with beans and fiddleheads
    Soooo. Good!!!! I trap close to 100 beaver a year. I never realized there was a quota on them on a Canada trapline. What is the quota? You drink fine beer my friend. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. PeaceY

    • @ClintZold
      @ClintZold  2 роки тому

      Where abouts do you trap? 100 beaver a year... That's a lot of skinning. I'm just starting to find some speed with my fur handling now. Ya, all public land here is divided into traplines given to a head trapper who in turn can take on helper-trappers. Most provinces don't have a mandatory quota as far as I know. Just Ontario. My line is about 100 square km but my quota is really small - 15 - but being sick for so long, plus a really late ice-out meant that I had a super small window to scout and set traps. I was going in totally blind. There was 2 days left in the season when I pulled these traps. Still green behind the ears doesn't help either! Cheers to you

      Adirondacks in New York State. Not any money in the fur anymore. I do nuisance work for camps during season which helps. I use some of the meat for coyote, fisher, marten. 50th year of trapping this coming season 2022.

I wondered if you have or could do a video or part of a video explaining trapping / trap lines to someone who has no knowledge and is not from Canada. The reasons for it, the uses, do you work on behalf of someone etc many thanks. Cheers from Scotland.
