Exactly, the audience was just people going to see a concert and didn't all enter thinking how would they be offended at every turn. They didn't need to adore one another to enjoy the concert and went about their lives normally the next day.
America seems to be more divided than ever, on purpose and these days are long gone sadly. Far from wanting love and unity, they actually brought the topic into every facet of our lives.

Actually I just went to her concert a few weeks ago and I only recorded the first 10 seconds, but I was so mesmerized that I had to just put my phone away and listen. Mariah has that effect on people.

Crazy to think of how an artist could get up on stage in front of so many people in nothing but a black shirt and pants, no dancers, and just sing her ass off and entertain an entire crowd of excited young people. I love the performers of today who are so entertaining and theatrical but it's so humbling looking back at the 90s and seeing the biggest female artists of all time (Mariah, Céline, and Whitney) wowing entire stadiums with nothing but their other-worldly voices. It's just not the same anymore. We expect so much more in addition to the voice and I don't know why.
