Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- In this video I make 2 garden dibbers, one with a spindle roughing gouge and spindle gouge, in real time, for beginners and a second with a skew for #dibber week started by Steve at SK Krafts. These are a quick project that can be made from scrap wood and are very popular. I have linked some friends video's below so you can see some different designs and techniques. Please leave a thumbs up or thumbs down and comment as this helps to get my videos in front of more viewers. I hope you enjoy this video, thank you to all who watch.

Wonderful turning. Gardening season is only a few months away.
Thanks Jack! The time if of SK Krafts challenge was great for sure! I appreciate you watching!
Very nice, Lewis. I hope SWMBO doesn’t see this. She is a gardener who does not need any more ideas! OK, just kidding. I’m sure she already has one or two of those. Great video, my friend.
Thanks Gord! If you make one and it is for her and doesn’t come with the operator then make he another quickly! I appreciate you watching buddy!

Hey first time watcher here. I appreciate the real time turning. If for no other reason than I get to hear some sounds I’ve heard myself and know they’re normal 😁
Thank you Ben! I appreciate you watching!
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman you’re welcome! I went out and made one of these for my parents out of some cherry I cut down from their yard in 2010. Figured it was appropriate. Currently on coat 3 of maybe 5 or 6 coats of wipe on poly. Fun little project!
Very enjoyable video
Thank you, I appreciate it!

Nice use of the skew. Neat project.
Thank you Mark, I appreciate it!
Well done Lewis thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Laurence!
These are definitely good for skew practice. I have made one a while ago, but will need to make some more again.
Great looking dibbers. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jiggsy! I need all the practice I can get buddy!
That was a fine demo, Lewis. I'm confident, but not an expert with, my skews. Today was a nice bit of spindle work and some challenging and successful cuts were satisfying. Watching your work reinforces what I believe I'm doing correctly.
Thank you! I am a long ways from being an expert as well but it’s coming along. I appreciate you watching as always!
I’ve never seen these before, looks like a useful item. Great job
Thanks Roger, these are very popular. I appreciate you watching!
I enjoy your talented craftsmanship
Thank you
Great video and cleaver to combine the two projects into one. Thanks for Sharing

Perfect! Thanks for watching Kelvin!
Looks super fun!! I would love to get into a hobby like this
It is extremely enjoyable, I recommend it! Thank you for watching!
Two great looking dibbers Lewis. I made one for my wife a while ago, as she does all the gardening, and finds it a useful tool.
I may well make some more for my craft fairs.
Take care Lewis. Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw, I believe these will get lots of use as well. Thanks for watching!
Love the presentation. 💖
Novice Turner I may try this..
Thank you! Lot of fun and very easy, you certainly should give them a go! Thanks for watching!
Super. They both look great. You saying $15-20 causes me to rethink what I planned to sell them for. $15 does make them a bit more profitable to make. Thanks for sharing how you turn them. Pretty similar to the way I turned mine in my last video. “Great minds …” as they say. Guess I need to get into the shop and get a bunch of these made up.
Thanks Doug! You have to price them like you were having to buy the wood, not use scrap. Ultimately, if you don’t, you will run out of scrap and have orders to fill. Keep In mind that is $CDN so 25% less in $US. Thanks for watching buddy!
Great work, my friend! Well done!
Thanks Seth, I really appreciate it buddy!
Pretty cool. I'm not good with a skew yet. I keep practicing though.
Thanks Jane! I am not good with a skew either but I get by. I’d give me a 3/10 to be honest! I appreciate you watching!
Very nice! A little surprised that you did not show or use “production” techniques such as marking’s and cutting to reference points and depths. Unless the goal is to not produce identical dibbers? But free-hand is good too. Good entries for the challenge!
Thank you Valerie! As a rule, unless I’m making items like legs for cabinet makers or something similar, I don’t make anything the same on purpose. They may be similar but not templated and measured the same. It is too time consuming and the payback is not there. I like freehand best! I really appreciate you watching!
Great idea 💡 very nice sir ✌
Very nice Dibbers!
Thanks so much!
Thanks Buddy, I appreciate it!
Incredible tool control, thanks for the inspiration! Stay well.
Thanks so much, I appreciate it!
These are great! Thank you! I'm just starting turning, and gardening, too. I like the finish with the hot wax. At what rpm do you apply/ buff that? I think a driver is going to be my first project. Theme l thanks again, great job!
Thanks Jeff! I run the lathe at 1900 for the wax on and buff. Faster is fine too. Sounds like this is perfect for your interests! Thank you for watching!
Lovey mom Lewis
Thanks buddy!
LOL 3:35 thats what she said
