- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Post 10's arch nemesis is the excavator guy. I just imagine them meeting one day and their epic battle being a civilised discussion on how to clean culverts.
And they wont find the loser, till it thaws..........
I mean, the excavator guy is an idiot, so I think Post has a pretty clear advantage.
And the beavers quietly plotting how to get rid of them both~

Great video Post 10, it's great to see you and Post 10.5 out having fun on those back roads. When I lived back in CT my brother and I would go out in his 4x4 to unplowed roads, unfortunately he didn't have a winch like you guys it would be me with a shovel. Still it was fun though.

I understand you realized that those chain links were not safe to use for that application, so I suggest you get yourself a soft shackle or two. Well worth the price for the safety that it would provide. Wouldn't want to see you guys get hurt!

I’d like to see some videos that’s just after you unclog a culvert that drains like a pond or river just a 1 hour time lapse of the area after so you can see all the water drain.

Stay safe out there, Post and Mrs. Post! Not worth getting stranded on those back roads just for a hobby or the sake of a video. Especially in those temperatures/conditions. You seem to come well prepared, but anything can happen.

I got my two front tires stuck in my semi with no load. I had a long tow strap that i looped thru the rim and it wrapped it around the tire, anchoring it to something pulling me out. Of course i locked the diff before hand but it worked.
Not sure if this might help someone out there.

I understand this one in particular is a 30sec-job onfoot...but they might bring an escavator out, because it's already doing stuff in the area.
The escavator is working it's way down the road.
That truck ride looks like a video game. Camera is stationary and the truck is moving around.
I'm guessing when they bring an excavator out they're doing more than one culvert. You get to pick and choose pick and choose this one or that one they probably have hundreds they're responsible for.
Why use an excavator? Because when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail...
They probably need an excavator when there is no water, in the dry season. They probably do this kind of work the whole year, not only right now during the spring melt.
Have you thought about taking a battery powered grinder or sawzall to remove the excavator damage? (only if blocking the culvert)

Watching hundreds of your vids, i have to ask - What in the hell is the requirement to operate an excavator there? All vids i watched of operators is them opening a bottle cap or something else. Like the most basic skill is at least not SMASHING everything they touch...
He seems to blame an excavator for everything.
Next time there's a 'can a boy be a girl' debate, I shall show your video vs a video of ladies unclogging a culvert. Completely different problem solving thought process and the difference in upper boy strength necessitates alternate techniques. Equally effective if time is not a factor. Perhaps I'll write a paper....
