Reading Catholic books on humility, Silence, life of Mary, homemaking and marriage, praying, writing religious journals, stories, playing the piano, riding a bike, walking, everyday online Mass, Adoration once a week, makeup and physical self care❤
1 year after giving birth to my 5th baby, I found out that I love to attend concerts. This was a healing for me. It gave me back a sens of existence after I was overwhelmed for years while raising my kids! Having a part time job also is a great source of satisfaction I like to be productive outside of my home so that I can serve my family better!
Confession, for some reason, really seems to help my energy levels and I always feel refreshed and lighter afterwards. I think those graces received in confession and the Eucharist are so amazing for our care, not just spiritually but physically and mentally. Aside from that, I also enjoy playing the piano and taking bubble baths. I'll use a face mask or do my nails. It doesn't take a lot and isn't expensive, but it gives me a boost. I love how you mentioned to take care of ourselves first before doing what we want - that is so true. Eating healthy and exercising does wonders, much more than strolling facebook, Instagram or pinterest. I used to shop for self-care, but have become disciplined in that area and it just isn't fulfilling. It would also lead to guilt later which did more harm than good. I love your videos Heather, thank you so much for them.
Thanks for broaching this important topic. With hectic pace of today’s world it’s vital to pause and refill our cup before we can pour into others. Like everyone else, some weeks are easier than others but I notice I feel the most balanced when I take a breather every now and again to reset. After those rejuvenating pauses, giving comes much more naturally and easily.
Thank you so much for this video! I so appreciate your insight! Things that fill me up: Talking or praying with a wonderful friend, going to Catholic Moms group, watching your videos!!, going to a dance exercise class, getting to organize a space in my home, going out to dinner/date night with my husband. And, I have to admit...a massage once in a while for my very sore, tight neck muscles helps me too! Again, thank you and God bless!
I’m actually Anglican but adore the Catholic traditions. My 8 year old son loves it when I play your videos, “that lady sounds nice” so I’m promoting how beautiful the this branch of the faith is. Being in an RC school my first taste of Christianity was this so it’ll always have a special place in my heart xx
I am from India and I connect to u so much though culturally we are from different backgrounds. Feel like I found my soul sister in u. ❤ I see all ur videos n feel like u are speaking my heart out!
I try to dedicate one hour a day to a relaxing hobby and rotate them through the week. After I put the kiddo to bed I spend an hour before bed doing crochet, reading, working on a puzzle, or catching up on my favorite shows. On weekend afternoons I play my flute because I don't want to wake up my toddler with that on a weekday evening lol. I always feel so relaxed and sleep better than if I was couchlocked and doomscrolling all night.
I am going through a struggle moment but I enjoy going to the gym with my husband. I listen to worship music while weightlifting and doing exercises. I also crochet while my daughter watches Thomas the Tank or Benjamin Cello. We snuggle a lot. We enjoy walking together and that is always fun. My daughter is 2, almost 3, so we started baking together! I enjoy making homemade bread.
Great video, Heather! For me, a cup of tea and prayer time, playing piano, reading, talking with dear friends, crossword puzzles, walking, watching the birds, and most certainly, watching your videos! ❤
Unfortunately I have all but avoided this topic because I did not want to fall back into a weird type of vanity with makeup. It’s not over self love as I was obsessing about everything wrong with me and covering it all up. Coming back to Christ obviously I realized what I was truly trying to cover up. However, because of this I have went to the other end and neglected myself. I am glad to sit down and hear how to go about this. I’m much too old for this but here I am nonetheless. God bless you and your family for your good works and sharing hearts.
*#1 is prayer and I am so relieved to see this. My children are grown now but the last several years I have had to really trust God with them. I have gotten this aspect on point because that’s one thing I can still do is pray for them and devote my time for them. Hod bless you.
Growing things has helped me a lot, learning new skills period has helped me to regain an appreciation for myself if that makes sense? Also updating older wood furniture. God actually led me to do that work with my hands. Winter is harder.
Thank you, Heather! Great video! The Catholic church here in Germany offers us how to paint /write (?) icons. Ikonen schreiben in german. I love painting, so at the end of the year I will try to do. In the meantime I try to avoid everything which is made of plastic, shampoo, soap etc. and do it by myself. Again thanks! You are so helpfull for my way to the Catholic Church!
I currently have 4 kiddos 7 and under and one growing and thriving in the womb... We homeschool, and Hub’s work is pretty physically intensive… so one of the things that I've realized helps us so much is planning... being open to plans changing but having a plan for the day/week / month. Also almost every day since the start of New Year's, together we've been praying and reading about living in God's Divine Will with Holy Love in each present moment ... So challenging but so good, has been helping us get on the same page about all the life stuff and keeps things simple. I started a puzzle last year I take it out now and then, plus things like a little makeup clean and neat clothes and home do wonders for me 😅.💗 I extend the complete Blessing of the United Hearts to everyone! Jesus be King of this present moment 🙏
Congrats on your new addition on the way! Thank you for sharing what has helped your family. I'm a mother of 5 kids ages 8 and under, but also work part time as a nurse; so I'm constantly pouring out of my cup. I enjoy learning from other faithful moms, such as you, who are in the same season as I. God bless ❤️🔥
Wow....was there. My first is 21 and last 11....had 6 but one passed. Hv taught all hv to run a home ...last is in the process. I hv ample rest now. Hugs from Uganda
@@jrgarcia-malabanan5263 My heart goes out to you 💕! It sounds like quite a bit to balance. Right now aside from Hub's reg work schedule and my doc apps, we leave the house about two times per week. One for Mass and one for coop. For me feels like a big to-do with packing food and getting everyone out the door lol. May God continue to Bless you abundantly, and give you all the strength and wisdom in this season 😊🙏
Luisa piccarettas work and the cause for her beautification is on hold for a reason. Please be very careful there. It's why I only tap into Church approved private revelations. Piccaretta fancied herself above our Blessed Mother 😳
The things that fill me up i think would be reading, playing a video game, embroidery ❤, painting family decorations (like traditional Christmas ornaments), learning new skills. But my worst peeve is being interrupted, specially while learning or reading, so I get angry at my kids often and prefer to avoid the things i love. Which brings a cycle of tiredness and not wanting to be around my kids anymore and feeling guilty about it 😔
This is so great. My husband spent a year in Korea, a deployment to Panama, most recently a 4 month training out of state and now is getting ready to go to the fire academy a few hours away for us before we move the family there! So I’ve had many lessons in self care when it’s most necessary. In our most recent family separation, I fell in love with gardening and watercolor painting! I haven’t done much the past few years while I was doing my masters degree and I miss it! Ready to get back to it now that I have graduated.
I love to look at poetry books with beautiful illustrations. I love looking at illustrations, especially animals dressed and acting like humans. I love sipping herb tea from a pretty cup. I go through times where I love to read books and other times I just don’t enjoy it. I find peace in doing my morning devotions and prayer.
Thank you. Heather, this is another beautiful video. I definitely needed to hear this message today. One thing that is important for me is prioritizing sleep. Obviously the amount of sleep a person can get depends on their season of life, but getting enough sleep really helps my mental health. I also love to read poetry. I find it extremely soothing.
Iam a college girl and now I am learning household work during my holidays ... And this video is helpful for me and i would usually do arts and drawings for my relaxation Thanks for the video ❤ mam
What's funny is when my baby boy was sick a lot, i would get take outs for myself to make myself feel better. That was my kind of self care, but now thats not the case because nothing tastes better than homemade gourmet meals.
Your videos are always the best this was great and I like how u mentioned self care can be something we love I really like cross word puzzles and drawing lol as a mommy I can stop and do that for 20 mins no need to keep going without stop, it helps also because as moms we get burn out and by the time my husbands comes homes home I’m so tired and moody from the over simulation.
This is a good one, and definitely something I need more of right now. Prayer is definitely my go-to, but I would like to add more to better care for myself. Are there any Catholic books or other wholesome books you recommend?
I do my prayers in the morning and then after I drop my kids off to school I exercise. I get some stuff done around the house and I listen to alot of Catholic priests or books while I clean. I love to read and listen to music. I don't get to do much but there are times where I need to go off into ny room for a bit away from everyone to get a peace of mind. I love my family but there are times when I start to feel overwhelmed. People need "me time", it's important for your mental health.
Heather I loved this video❤ Thank you for saying self- care is not just about spending money doing your nails, massage etc.. I have found more value in spending more time reading, doing a low impact work- out, baking, scrapbooking, praying rather then spending two hours on my phone. I’m currently in a tough spot with feeling overwhelmed with working full-time and coming home to my son since my husband works alot. I have felt stuck in this negativity side of motherhood because I’m so tired by the end of the day which leaves me little energy for my me time. I sometimes feel guilty for feeling overwhelmed with being a full- time professional and being a mom. Any tips or advice you have for me?
My self care is doing simply little things. Taking a warm bath with bath salts. Journaling. Lighting a candle and sitting in candlelight while I journal or listen to music. I am not a verbal prayer. I journal pray. It’s the only way I’ve found I can do it. Otherwise my mind wanders.
I struggle so much with self care. I have four kiddos, and I feel selfish when I try to sneak away for 10-15 minutes to exercise, or take a walk, or read! Oh my gosh. I haven't' read a book in years.
Military wives do it all the time. Dad had a friend to come and fix anything that needed fixing. Mom had a few friends to talk to. We had neighbors that were like grandparents to us kids.
Earthing - walking barefoot so electrons can come up through your body. This is needed for original accurate energetic balance and can thwart disease. This happens through 100% natural material shoes but not synthetic material in your shoes or home ( concrete foundation). Our ancestors did not have this problem.

I love that you start this video addressing the "selfish" thing.🎉
I was just thinking about this today, how to do self-care as a Christian woman and saw that you uploaded this video! ❤️🙏
Making rosary’s is a great idea. Thank you

I start my day with prayer. If I give God the start of my day, I’m reminded to keep him in prayer all day. I love listening to music during the day.
Great video!
Thanks for sharing 💕
Thanks for sharing these tips.
I'm so grateful you're here !
I love art & crafts🎉
Such a helpful video 🩷🙏🏼
A woman who can create knows self care. Creation of art is self care.
