@@benjaminthut6330 A lot of my Friends still run exactly these Specs(or GTX1070, but these Cards are kinda the same). I just did a used parts/new parts Build to sell: i7 8700 + GTX 1070. So performance should be around your specs aswell. Absolutely usable and kinda cheap to obtain. Have a good Weekend and lots of gaming :) Maybe a few Games look like a painting due to hard Upscaling, but this is more of a special case i would say and bad optimization is a thing.

I built him an R5600X System around release during the GPU nonsense. That was in 2020. He is quite rich(!) and plays Videogames in 80% of his freetime or on Steam Deck on the train (he loves Trains alot, he is also on the spectrum). But he only wants to upgrade the GPU when games aren't "running" anymore. The 5600X is now getting "too slow" for faster modern Cards, depending on games. He is still on 10 Years old 1080p 60hz office Monitors and has more gametime than anyone else in my surroundings. He humbles me alot of times when i tinker around with my R7600+RX6800 System that is not the fastest on the planet, but compared to his Setup, it is a Rocket. :D I just did not want to tell someone that the statement he made can't be true since i know better. (high settings in all modern games with an GTX 1660S. But remember: a lot of people play with blurry visuals and 25fps and are fine. While a lot of people were whining about performance (true) on e.g. Jedi Survivor, another friend on mine with R3600+1660S just played it on release and wasn't complaing a single time. :D)
32GB ram is highly recommended, remove the cable extensions if its a budget issue. Hogwarts is a resource hog, but that's likely the future- more games will use more vram and/or regular ram.
@zaachy1912 Gotta start somewhere, no shame in a laptop. I started w one too. 16 tends to get by but 32 is always a good call if it’s in the budget. May be worth checking if your laptop has soldered ram or if the ram is upgradable/have another slot?
Some people online act like the thermaltake smart series of power supplies are bad, i've had a smart 430w for 6 years and has worked flawlessly. I even get regular voltage drops in my city and the occasional blackout, still no issues whatsoever. They are insanely good value for money.
Idk if you know what the psu tier list is, but if you don’t, it’s a list of psu ranking made by a group of people extremely knowledgeable about psu’s, and they put the thermaltake smart on tier F, the lowest tier, which is extremely bad, people generally don’t recommend anything under tier C, for that kind of wattage I’d recommend the msi a550bn, its tier c and around 50 bucks
Well, it is that bad. You're lucky if yours still survived till this day. The components in this PSU are garbages, for most of the time, it will fail and that's why everyone should avoid this piece of trash.

Reminder to everyone to use a surge protector that works for lightning as well. Video cards are super sensitive to lightning. My Brother's new autocad video card fizzled during a lightning storm, even though his house was never hit, rather power lines further away from his neighborhood. But it was enough feedback to fizzle his card.
Are there surge protectors that can handle lightning strikes?! My understanding was that your only option during a lightning storm is to unplug everything from the wall. Even turning your appliances off is not enough because lighting can jump through the few millimeters between a switch's contact pads. Am I wrong?
@@user-nl7hw7uh1m you are right. You should unplug endangered devices before lightning occurs. Otherwise you should have at least a three step overvoltage protection beginning with house connection fuse, protection in your apartment fuse box and last a device protection, like those overvoltage protection plugs. Only the combination of all three will reduce the risk to the lowest possible level.

Great build! One thing I would change are the fans, I would go for some Arctic P12 PWM PST fans, a bunch of those can be daisy chained on a single PWM fan header, no need for a fan hub.
Quick note on the psu: I've found that the 600w version of the Thermaltake Smart is often on sale for only $2 more than the 500w. Though the additional 100w might not be necessary, for $2 it's a no brainer.

This is literally my build, other than the psu, case, and mobo. Its super solid for what I use it for and I don't have any reason to upgrade anytime soon, so yeah great build
I'd personally have gone for an RTX 2070 or 2080. The 2080 comes up for the same $160 pretty regularly and is not only faster but supports DLSS which is better than FSR. Motherboard was too expensive for a budget build, I'd have gotten a used B450 or B550 board for $40-60 instead and used the savings from that to upgrade the CPU to a Ryzen 5600 as it's quite a bit faster in CPU-limited games. Apart from that it's a pretty solid build. 👍
Your video made me realize that used RX6600 is surprising affordable. Both of my used 1080ti and 3090 are broken after a few months so my experience with used GPU is not so great nowadays.

I'd still suggest a second hand 3300X over a 3600X if you are going to be gaming on the system because the L3 cache is shared by all four cores which helps limit frame stutters, it's also cheaper.

If my finances were what they were 5-6 years ago I would totally build a system like this in a heartbeat. I just built a PC on AM5 and had a much better budget. But really this is a great high value rig.
You should totally jump on that Bazzite hype train and see how those games perform under Linux. It will save you a few bucks on Windows license as well.
The one thing that looks the hardest to manage are those cables, it gives me a headache just to see them, great vid but the Minecraft music is so depressing lol.

Ahh, great build, but I wouldnt buy a Thermaltake PSU, since 2008 they are like playing russian roulette with the barrell fully loaded. Instead, I will just use the stock CPU cooler and put the extra dollars into a better PSU, lets say a beQuiet! or Corsair with more Ws. This will not only provide you a safer choice, but also more upgradable headroom for the future. Saying this, great video, loved the music and the chill vibes and great election of components!

Ok, that's a nice build with a RX 6600. This is the minimum for all games, anything slower or an older gen is not worth it for all games. I mentioned all games.
Actually, the 5700X/B550 Pro 4/32GB RAM is much better performance for the dollar over at New egg. You can break it down to $80/$80/$50 At this price point, $210, nothing beats it for this budget. You are essentially buying the 5600 at AliE but you get a 5700X instead.

@JMark4 UPS is best as regulates power. But cost more, plus if power fails you have 20 to 60 min time to power down depending on battery size
