Hi, thank you so much for dedicating your time to this HP Omen 30L RTX version. I am waiting for one with the RTX 3090 as well. Have you tried rendering in 3D programs like 3dsmax or blender to see how it copes with the constant stress over a long period of time? HP says they custom this RTX 3090 to be in the 2.5 slot format, since I am not an expert in the GPU field, don't know if that affects, if at all, anything in terms of the performance or cooling? Do you have any idea?
This GPU is Decent. It performs as a 3090 should Clocking in around 1950mhz..... The downfall of this card is poor thermals. the vram on it gets extremely hot. it appears as if the thermal pads are bad quality and could even use a few more pads in other places to help dissipate heat. If this is ran stock on a #D benchmark for to long or renders heavy 3d animation for to long it will over heat and throttle down. That said if you are knowledgeable it isn't to hard to replace thermal paste and pads on the card. if that is a bit above some peoples pay grade a simple undervolt also solves this issue. The intel 10th gen CPU in these also run way to hot. The cooler is to small. again a cooler/case swap will solve this or a simple undervolt. It really seems like HP pushed way to many volts into this system. not sure if it is a standard for pre builds to be on such high voltage or if HP just did it on this specific model to try and achieve as much performance as possible. If you undervolt the CPU and GPU just enough to keep performance but reduce volts it makes about a 10-15C drop in temps. I will be making one more vid to show how to undervolt while maintaining maximum performance and then I will be doing a full case and cooler swap. I hope that helps answer your question.
@@jdwtv6530 Thanks for such a detail answer. I used to have a small case like this HP Omen 30l with rtx 3070. I replaced the stock case fan with a noctua dh15s fan and the temp and noise drops significantly. The fact that the noctua fan heat sink sits right above the GPU make the airflow much better as the fan just blows the gpu exhaust air right into the exhaust fan at the back. I also noticed, from an engineering fluid dynamics design, some of the case (like this hp omen 30l), has the glass front panel at the front, and this make no sense at all. You can try to run the pc with the front panel removed, and the cold air is immediately withdrawn into the case. If you put the front glass panel back on, theoretically, the front fan will still draw the air from all the tiny holes on the front panel, but not enough, so it ends up also draws the hot air from within the case towards the front and through the front fan and back again into the case. That is why the front panel gets hot. So the case with the front mesh will make the airflow much better in my opinion. Hope it helps.
@@doriflow_engine You are absolutely correct my friend. For my case swap I got the lian li lancool RGB mesh for the exact reason you just stated. These glass panels choking out air flow is the worst design flaw I have seen in these new cases today. Ill be started the case swap hopefully this weekend. It has been about 6-7 years or so since I built my last PC so I'm hoping it goes well. Worst case it will make a hilarious video when I break everything in front of you guys lol. Knock on wood I got this tho lol
Thank you so much. I saved up starting 4 years ago when I built my first computer. The plan was to build another computer myself but unfortunately every gpu is sold out. But I’m still happy with this.
Great question. so the 3090 is an OEM 3090. It is a true 3090 in the same way the asus brand or msi brand, ect... are 3090s. Technically only the nvidia made 3090 could be called a TRUE 3090. They all have the same exact GPU the difference between all of these will simply be placement of memory chips and weather or not it is overclocked or not and how well the thermal pads are done stuff like that. This 3090 is in fact a fantastic GPU well constructed with great performance and clock speeds. But yes it is a true 3090 that HP constructed there own housing design. I hope that makes since lol.
@@jdwtv6530 I will I look forward to the new video I have subbed so I will get notified once you post it Microcenter had 6 of them in stock, but I was a little undecided. It's crazy with what's happening in the GPU market
How many FPS can you get with Cyberpunk 2077 in ULTRA quality and Ray Tracing and at what maximum temperature does the RTX 3090 reach? Thanks for the contribution. It is appreciated.
HAHA after buying this monster I cant afford much more at the moment. jokes aside honestly I just haven't had time to move all of my good recording equipment over from my older computer. Unfortunately we have had one disaster after another where I live that has really been slowing me down on my hobby time. That said my main headphones are not anything fancy either. gotta save up for one nice thing at a time. The struggle is real my friend lol
you should uninstall high res textures, thats why u were getting frame drops on all low setting if you uninstall it youll get no frame drops or stutters or just switch to dx12
haha I hear you. I am starting to download some quality games today and will work on some other videos. My son has been the only one lucky enough to actually play games on it so far I got sick right after we got it.

Yes for sure. unfortunately I got very sick right after we got the computer but I am feeling better so ill start getting all our games downloaded and get better games going for you!
i built my own because the temps were too high in this case cause the one fan. now my gpu maxes out at 66-70 degrees back when i had the omen it was always 75-79
@@benjaminford8173 I am definitely going to do a case swap and put a bigger radiator on this thing. eventually swap the mother board as well. but yea I couldn't get my hands on a 3090 any other way lol.
when you changed the setting to all low you need to put 3d resolution slider all the way up so it wont look that bad
