Hello my friends, I'm Nathan, Seoul Walker 🤓🚶🏻🐈
Let's walk together tonight in Jongno-gu, Seoul. This area is one of my favorite areas in Seoul. We start at the intersection next to Gwanghwamun, the main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, and walk through Jongno District and Cheonggyecheon Stream. Our final destination is Deoksugung Stonewall Road. Thanks as always! ❤️

Jongno District has been the center of the city for 600 years, since it is where the Joseon dynasty established its capital city. Jongno District is commonly referred to as the face and heart of Korea because of its important roles in the politics, economics, culture, and history as the capital city. Jongno District is home to palaces in which the kings used to reside and work, such as Gyeongbok Palace, Changdeok Palace, Changgyeonggung and Unhyeon Palace. The South Korean president's current residence, the Cheongwadae, is also located in the Jongno District.
Due to its rich history, Jongno District attracts visitors and tourists, especially those interested in Korean history and culture. These include the restored Cheonggyecheon stream, the traditional neighborhood of Insa-dong, and the Jongmyo shrine. Art Center Nabi and Gahoe Museum, a relics museum is also located in the district. A number of colleges and universities are located here; these include the main campuses of Sungkyunkwan University and Baehwa Women's College.
Jongno District is also home to Jogyesa, the chief temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
The area is also home to the Gwanghwamun Plaza, a public open space on Sejongno,[3] and is part of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's plans for environmentally friendly renovation projects such as the Cheonggye Stream and Seoul Plaza.[4] It is also of historical significant as the location for royal administrative buildings and features statues of the Admiral Yi Sun-sin of Joseon Dynasty and King Sejong the Great of Joseon.
Jongno district is considered as the most important district in South Korean politics, as it is located in the heart of Seoul, and thus in the heart of the Republic of Korea. The district is the home to the official residence of the President, the Blue House, and two of the three largest plazas in Seoul (the first being Gwanghwamun Plaza, and the other Cheonggye Plaza), making the district the first constituency to appear in the National Election Commission's election statistics, and in exit polls for every nationwide election. Because of the significance in politics the district has, every political party carefully selects its own candidate to run in every election, and even most minor parties nominate their candidates to run in the district while they choose not to nominate candidates in other constituencies in Seoul.

Seoul Street View in South Korea is still so bustling, especially at night, as if a city that does not sleep at night, there are still a lot of vehicles, people walk and shop at night, happy mood.
I've been visited Seoul 3 times. I miss the city so much. I must visit Korea again after the pandemic.

Originally from Korea, after I was born we moved to Canada. Since then we've never came back to Korea again, only my mother did when grandma was in the hospital. However I believe one day I'll be able to see Seoul one day.

my country has been in lockdown since december. we’re not allowed to go out after 9pm and only recently the stores opened back up again but you have to make a reservation beforehand. cafes are still closed. and to be honest, i’ve never felt more depressed in my life. i hope to visit seoul one day. these videos have been my escape from reality these past few months. thank you for making them :)
Im sorry to hear this! I live in London and we have been on lockdown since December too. Its very tiring but watching videos like this help a lot. Take lots of walks, look at the sky and do anything that you find even the tiniest bit of enjoyment to make you feel good. These dark days will be over soon! Vaccines will help 100%

Where do you live? In my country all is closed too, over and over again. The media panic is worse than this of government. Europe is the worst place to live now, like Middle Ages or something. I'm depressed too, I don't know what to do anymore.
South Korea has never locked down ever since Covid 19 broke out. South Korea has always been open with some late night business hours restrictions when there is an increase of pandemic but has never locked down so people live normal life over there.
@@sunnymorning8492 I think we shouldn’t call it panic. It’s a crisis. It’s real and it’s going to be a while before we have normality. I work in a hospital, the deaths and struggles are too real. It’s important to be aware and cautious - but not scared. That’s the way out of this pandemic, follow the social distancing rules, wear your mask and take the vaccine when it’s offered to you. If we don’t do this - Covid will never end
Love the contrast of old and new in Seoul. 7:04. You can tell from looking at the old buildings of the corner stores surrounded by the new sleek modern tall architecture. I hope to take those photos again soon.

Thank you for appreciating the beauty of Seoul. However, you should know that Jong-ro, where described in this video, is the center of Seoul since the middle age. Therefore, the appearance of Jong-ro is way better than other place in Korea and should not be generalized as whole country. Again, thank you for your comment.

During the walk, I have seen beautiful sculptures. At minute 29, a tower of faces carved in aluminum or iron. At minute 36, a small statue of a girl holding dozens of colored balloons.
How beautiful are those dwarf trees, bonsai type!
At minute 31, I was surprised by the bookstore that has a corridor whose ceiling is lined with books.
The sound of the stream is reassuring, along the avenues surrounded by modern buildings.

i have lived in numerous cities that do not have nearly the same amount of people as seoul yet the streets of cities across canada have never looked as clean as the streets of seoul - it looks as though people actually respect their environment and do their part to take care of it - what is that like??!

고3인데 어릴때부터 서울에 너무 살고싶었어요 처.음엔 막연한 동경이였는데 목표도 생기고 어느 정도 이루기도 했지만, 그 풍경이 건물들이 보고싶고 바래서 작년에도 올해도 당일치기라도 될 수 있으면 가고싶었는데 상황이 이래서 결국 못 갔네요. 일년 넘게 영상 보면서 마음 달래는데 입학할때까지 잘 보겠습니다 감사합니다

Que hermoso es este Distrito de Corea del Sur muy elegante y muy limpias las calles, es como si estuviera caminando en la ciudad gracias, es muy dificil para mí realizar un viaje a tan bella ciudad y me consuela ver tu canal, ojalá caminarás por los hermosos palacios reales.
아니, 종로 쪽 야경이 이 정도였나?? ㄷㄷ 물론 요즘에 많이 달라지긴 했을텐데, 좋네요, 단순 촬영빨만은 아니겠지만 내가 생각했던 것보다 멋지게 나오네요. The scenes look more gorgeous than expected. But this area is one of good places to visit. There are some Chosun dynasty palaces around here.
