My one piece of advice for Bards:
Always keep your buffs up. You want to avoid playing songs in combat as much as possible so you can focus on attacking and maneuvering. The only songs you want to be playing during a fight are Shriek of Weakness and Lament of Languor, and Piercing Shrill if you're chasing a rat druid.
Just understand that whoever you decide to fight will likely know you're there well before you attempt to engage them. So top off your buffs and stay on your toes.
- Dexterity and Action Speed will increase the speed you play your songs at.
- Resourcefulness makes your songs last longer.
- Knowledge will increase the number of songs you can memorize.
- Always put your Lute songs last when you equip them, as the Lute comes with Knowledge as its static attribute.
- Your most absolutely crucial songs are:
Rousing Rhythms
Shriek of Weakness
Ballad of Courage
Beats of Alacrity
Aria of Alacrity
After that, take some utility/control songs if you have the memory for them, such as:
Lament of Languor - Reduces enemy move speed
Tranquility - Increases your healing while resting

oh man I main bard, and it is NOT easy. excited to see how quick you're gonna pick up the skills
I can confirm, not easy at all haha, but really fun!!
And then on the flip side a bard will run at my barbarian, play one song of weakness, and kill me in 3 hits while tanking 2 zweihander hits to the face (this kills rogues, rangers, wizards, and warlocks)

As a rampant ADHD-having person, Bard has such a satisfying game loop. I'm _always_ doing something.
Though I'm currently fixated on playing the Bonk Bard with Charismatic Performance, Superior Dexterity, Dancing Feet, and Reinforced Instruments. I even managed to kill a barbarian with my Lute the other day. Rogues continue to assail me, unfortunately.
Bonk Bard sounds so freaking funny haha, amazing :) Doing a lute only bonk run sounds so fun!
@@Empty_Estus it's a challenge, for sure. But with all Squire gear, even an epic Lute won't put you over 24 GS. With Dancing Feet and a decent set of boots from the dungeon, you can move at 100% move speed with the Lute out, and even at 101% or more with the Flute in your hands.
