Ehh I think she actually landed on both feet but hopped on the healthy foot immediately afterwords so I don't think that's quite how it happened. And it was actually at the 1996 Olympics.
Payson was being trained by Sasha to be an artistic gymnast when she could no longer be a power gymnast. Well, I have to say, it doesn't get more artistic than that where a vault is concerned! She injured her back in the first season but that didn't stop her as she recovered(after having surgery) and now she's proven that an ankle injury can't stop her, either. Payson's really building a reputation that nothing stops her.
The only time they have two vaults at Worlds is in the vault final and when a gymnast wants to qualify for the final. And maybe Payson would have done a better vault with some lights on...
I guess you never heard of Bela Karolyi he pushed Kerri Strug to do a 2nd Vault on her already messed up ankle she won gold but missed the all arounds.
She needed to medal to get the rest of the money from the partnership she took to help her parents. She talked them into letting her take the partnership, which signed away her eligibility for college scholarships, so she didn’t want to let them down.
Payson: does a half on tucked (which is basically a level 9 vault) Also payson: injures herself Payson: then does a cheng which is one of the most difficult vaults in the gymnastics code of points🤦🏻♂️
Her main event was supposed to be floor, but because she injured herself on her first vault, she knew she wasn’t going to be able to compete on floor. She had also just talked her parents into letting her take a paid partnership, so she could help them because they were struggling financially after her back surgery. One of the conditions for her to receive the full payment, so her second vault was her only chance at winning a medal.
One problem with Payson's parents, especially her mother, is that they worry too much. I'm sure that they wanted to stop Payson from trying to do it with her foot injured but they also knew that if they want Payson to make something of herself, then they have to let go at times and now is one of those times. It's perfectly normal and alright for parents to worry about their child but they have to let go a little.
Alexander Edward Pytko actually it isn't uncommon that parents can't even watch their children compete. Nastia Liukin's mother never watched her compete, not even when she won the all-around at the olympics
Why did she only do a yurchenko half on, front tuck off the first time, if she was able to do a yurchenko half on, one and a half off? That's a pretty hard vault.
Because after injuring her back, she was more so taking the path of an artistic gymnast. She was mainly there to compete on floor. After she got hurt on her first vault her only shot at getting a medal was on vault, so she basically just took a huge risk to medal.
I know this is acting, but the injury couldn’t have been that bad if she could run and jump even though she landed one leg. The scene doesn’t make any sense but I like the scene
@Pop Culture Factory yeah it's still unrealistic it did happen in the Olympics but she didn't actually land with one leg she landed on both and picked her foot up right away also the fact that she wasn't throwing her hardest vault in the first place and then was allowed to throw it after being injured is very unrealistic
Spell her name right, first of all. And they even gave her credit in the scene. And its something that CAN happen. Its a show, dont like it? Shut up and get outta here.
I dont want to sound obnoxious but this show is soo wrong and it doesnt portray real gymnastics, lighting looks like a nightclub if lighting was like this in any competition they would probably be sued , also gymnasts dont do 2 vaults except in individual vault finals, also gymnasts never compete while injured the coach can be reported for misconduct , and also no gymnast would do a cheng while injured 😂
The lighting is simple to hide the stunt doubles in plain sight. In actual competition lighting, the doubles would be way too obvious visually. And to answer for everything else, the show is about drama and shock factor. Also, this scene was inspired by a real gymnast, who did something similar.
Its actually not impossible.. Kerry strugg did it in the 1986 Olympics after she hurt herself in the first vault. This is where the got the idea
+Christopher Halvorsen I think the screewriter was inspired much of Kerri s life.
+Christopher Halvorsen 96.

It was the 96 games
Definitely wasn’t 86😂

i agree with you 100%
It's a reinactment of Kerri strug!

I actually miss this show
I miss it too😭😭😭😭
we deserved a season 4, like the lead up to the olympics or like after it
@@rosiemarie3836 we have it .
@@user-or9fj8mu6j there isn’t a season 4
@@rosiemarie3836 oh yes oups its season3 im sorry lol
I agree all the way though I will always love Payton character she makes the room light up in a thousand piece
She injures herself on the first vault so she goes and adds another 1.5 twist to her 2nd vault, LOL.
LMAO
I know smart right and also no good coach would ever let an athlete do this

Found the fellow gymnastics fan in the room [LOL]

I ship her and Sasha.... A lot! And I loved that wink
Ok so she does a half on tucked , then she gets injured and throws a cheng , miobi logic

omg she landed it with one foot?! i only seen they land it with two foots! Payson is so so so so powerful
“It’s not broken but I’m no doctor”

I've ran and jumped after tearing two tendons skiing.
Look for Kerri Strug in 1996 she did that in real life
@@vampireshful she actually landed on both feet, but picked up the hurt one right after, if you watch close.
Kerri Strug disagrees. 1996 Olympics Team Optionals, Vault 2.
Like to see you try to vault that
So obviously jumped off the vault table. Lololol...
Not impossible, guys. Don't get it twisted.
LIVE THIS EPISODE!!!
woow!! that was amazing :) #Way2goPayson ♥
Kerry strung 1996 much
This is why she is my role model
Think again ... Kerri Strug did it :)
Wow first payson broe her back kaylie stepped Second. ". ". ". Foot "". "
thnx :)
It's a good show but they really need to put more research into real Gymnastics because the show has a lot of false information
Kerri strugg much?
can u tell me which episode n which season was diz?? plzz
thnxkx
If they are going to make a gymnastics show at least make it realistic.

Season 2 episode 19-20
I think it's impossible to land a vault on 1 foot
Not impossible, it's been done in real-life but not very often.
This is a TV show. Not actual elite gymnastics. Calm down.
Omg tht landing was just like kerry shrug's seriously use some origionality!!
SO unrealistic
