I miss my 1090. I might get another one this year. They’re the perfect American BDR bike if you want to take the Hwy home after. Took my old one from Kelowna to Winnipeg and back in 2019 and it was the perfect long range moto camping bike.
@@HeddleTown I agree, they messed up getting rid of it. 890 to 1290 is far to big a jump. There’s no reason not to have had the 1090 still evolving for the last 4 years.
@@HeddleTown you still have yours? I think we’ve interacted on DualSportBC, I got 2 BDR’s planned this year for my 500, but I’ll take the 1090 if I get one.
Congrats on the new beast. Our riding season is almost in full swing and as someone who just got my own, i look forward to your adventures. On the street they are handle way smaller then they appear and i hope the dirt will be the same. I got mine to try some motocamping. Ride safe and enjoy the horrid chain slap.
Hey congrats on the new ride 🤗. Great choice for all your new adventures. I’m running Dunlop 908 rear and motoz tractionator rallz up front. They work great. Happy adventures.
I’ve been running Dunlop the 908 Rally Raid tire the last few years very happily on my 1090, very tough, great traction, great mileage and good value as it’s not overpriced..
Thank you sir I look forward to getting into it. I have a small dog that's very old so Im limited as too how many nights I can leave for but overnights should be a great way to get into moto camping! 👌
@@HeddleTown We have a wee doggo as well, but fortunate enough to have a built in dog-sitter where were are at the moment. But yeah, overnights are a great way to work out the bugs on a new-to-you platform. What are you running for luggage?
@@ithinkwemissedaturn2110 Wolfman has helped me out in previous years so I stuck with them great stuff. The B-base system and large bags on the side and can be configured anyway you want!
Can’t wait to hear your comments on going to this bike vs XR, etc. Seriously thinking about adding one to my garage but have been worried they are just to heavy for my style of riding.
I will be honest they are heavy and take some getting use to. I'm a pretty decent rider but have to second guess some of things I do cause lifting it from a bad angle on a hill etc just is not an option! With that being said use it for what its intended for and they are a hoot. Great idea for a comparison video of a lighter bike I will do that! Thanks!
I've been riding a 690 for two years and I'm going to upgrade to either a 1090/1190/1290. What made you go with the 1090 over the 11 or 12? Just weight savings?
Honestly I found a decent deal on a 2018 in my area was the real factor with not a lot to choose from! The 1090 seems to be the sweet spot for me as its only 20ish pounds more than an 890. Also the Vtwin is proving really nice off road with the low end torque they have I hope they bring the 1090 back its a weapon off road!
subbed 650 times, upgraded to 657 now while I can still swing a leg over @60 - rock on! We have snakes and "freedom movement" ABC types that we would want to dispatch into the afterlife here. Bears seem nicer in comparison. Keeping your eyes open to see wildlife peacefully will help you live longer. Is the 1090 a V2? ^^^^^^ EDIT: On my 650 my go to tyres are D81F front and D606 rear. Whether one or the other tyre may or may not be legal on public roads in South Africa - Hangaas...

Man, your skills and that bike; it's a winning combo!🧡

I agree I love the Vtwin power and really not much heavier than the 890s. I hope they make an updated version.. its a beast in the power department!

Haha ya the chain does slap in my particular model but I will just keep it pinned so I don't let off and have slap! 😅

moto camping , right on , love to see it
If nothing else I share your affinity for Stagg Chili!! A can was always with me on the last trip!
Yeah it's super tasty good for when you're in a hurry or you don't want to do too much!

Akro Time!
Congrats on the new bike. I'm curious, which tires will be replacing the ones on the bike right now?
I'm going with the Kenda big block k784s and will report back once I put some miles on them there on the bike now.

If you could have only the XR or KTM what would you pick bro?
No question the XR I've had it since 95 and it's a 93 almost zero problem's!
