I have only used swords since the 1st day I played terraria I’ve tried getting into other classes but imma be honest, the hilarity of someone, a mortal man, just standing and getting hit by cosmic horrors while hitting harder than a drunken father on a bad day is just… amazing
you can also use the hook of dissonance since it teleports you through the ray, but it requires a bit of finesse. you can use it to easily dodge martian saucer ray as well

Autoswing has now become a built in feature for all weapons so feral claws is not as good as it used to be, but it’s still useful if you don’t have any other accessories
Melee speed boost is decent if you consider the terra blade (albeit it already autoswings) now releases its wave attack every swing so being able to swing it faster means even more waves meaning a boost to damage especially since they also tweaked how i-frames work for certain attack types.
12:28 Tip for saving time: Reverse craft the old chlorophyte armor in the shimmering water into bars to make turtle armor. Found that out myself on a playthrough :)
I’ve started a master mode true melee challenge too! with special rules like waiting til post skeletron to get the bee keeper or volcano, and no star fury. although what I’m doing is less of a true melee playthrough and more of a “no yo-yo, boomerang, knife, or projectile abuse” melee playthrough. I look forward to seeing how far I’ll get

My friend and I are doing this but we took a step further. So we’re Pokémon fans and couldn’t help but see Zacian with the new wolf mount. So we’re doing what we call the Zacian challenge. We use the wolf mount for the entire game and we can only use swords and we’re doing it in master mode. It’s been pretty fun so far the mechs have been a struggle.

I am really sattisfied with the Night Edge Change (The True Nights Edge is awesome too) turned Melee class pre hardmode to being stupidly hard to actually being one of the best against Wall of Flesh, and not being in disadvantage against the start of hardmode
I guess I don't fully understand what that means cause I have swords that are single swing... I enable auto swing in settings and it still just single swings, requires button mashing.... There are other swords that are auto swing (hold down the button and it keeps swinging) but from my experience auto swing does not apply to all weapons, so feral claws is still necessary for some. I play on mobile.
Haven't played terraria in a long time but I remember having to farm so hard for three broken hero sword to craft the Terra blade, and this was before the solar tablet and stuff so I had to rely on chance. Its nice that they made it easier to craft not having to need three broken hero sword.
Best option for the plantera if you happen to find yourself a railroad underground use it. Plantera is slow at obstacles minecarts can also do additional damage while going melee

Anyone find it wierd how each boss with valuable items he needs always drops first time. (King Slime:Slime Mount),(Plantera:Seedler), (Mothron:WARDING Mothron wing AND broken hero sword) kinda suspect. Video still enjoyable tho.

The dps you can do with a pre hard mode sword to any respective pre hardmode boss Is not not that high and each time you're going to inflict damage you'll have to get dangerously close and quite possibly get damage. Wall of flesh Is the only exception as it's trend Is stable and constant, and the fiery great sword Is a bit overpowerade compared to its hp, plus the hungries can get knocked back). The moonlord has crazy HP compared to even late hard mode bosses and he can regenerate but you could hit him constantly with a terrablade which Is actually a ranged weapon in disguise. With a pre hardmode boss you'd have to paly extremely safely, possibly going out of time if not dead already

I think the claws are still useful, as they provide autoswing *only* for melee weapons. So there's the choice between autoswing for everything, including guns, bows, magic, etc versus only swords/whips with the obvious fact of course they lead into the "Glove" accessories for Melee weapons
@@hiddenblaze it boosts melee swing speed, something that auto swing doesn't do sure it makes everything full auto, but that's not all Feral Claws do, they still boost melee speed, that still makes them viable enough though. again, feral claws are just the start of the glove accessory line, so they're not *great* but they're still a must if one is choosing a melee/summoner build

fact: in general settings, there is an option called Autofire. this lets you autoswing (any weapon) like how feral claws do. It's surprising, because most of my friends said they had no idea that setting existed. So that's cool, I guess im smart

I did a run like this too, although when i got the terra blade i realized it's projectiles are based of it's swing speed, aka melee speed affects the damage. So now my final loadout (after golem), with the armor i have hallowed mask (adds to melee speed and has the best headgear defence), beetlescalemail (has good defense and adds to melee speed), and beetle leggings. For accessories i used Master ninja gear, mech and fire gloves, fishron wings, soaring insignia and the ankh shield all with violent. I also used cursed flasks and with all of those you have a pretty fast terra blade with good movement (this is on expert btw)
I also noticed how you don’t use debuff flasks. Such as ichor and venom. They cal easily double your total damage output with melee. And they are cheap to craft as well
I think this will help 1. Kill sum hallow chest to get the Bow thing 2. Get holy arrow 3. Summon destroyer 4. Craft megashark 5 deafeat twins and skele prime

swords arent bad for eow its better than most classes cause it has pierce
eow is kinda easy? even in master mode you can still just tank the body and hold left click
i cheesed the EOW by using 2 eater of souls banner, slime mount, all placeable regeneration and sunflowers, and blade of grass. its pretty cheesy
