hi James i am a disabled veteran who loves his photography like you i also use Sony. I have been looking into Kase filters and doing comparisons on you tube and they are very popular. i like the simplicity of the Magnetism oops magnetics and ease of use. great video I will follow you Instagram too.
I loved the way both you and Nigel looked for different ways to make the focal length work. High, low, silhouette, shallow depth, movement, slow shutter with filter. Most enjoyable. Well done.
I laughed when you suddenly said, "Bird!" ... reminded me of the movie Up and the "Squirrel!" moment. 😄 Good challenge, and one that I should have a go at sometime. Zoom lenses can make it too easy at times, so restricting yourself to one focal length requires a bit more work to get the composition that you're after. Well done, mate! Oh, and #filter for the giveaway. My lenses would be honoured to give them a new home (as well as a lot of use)!
I actually broke my filters over Christmas when “someone” forgot to properly zip the camera bag closed and then fell onto the pavement next to the car. So, that would be great. But I think sticking with a single focal length is a good challenge for any photographers to practice seeing better.
Filters and water are just an amazing combination. I think the completely smoothed out look has gone out of style but for getting the edge of waves they are amazing.
I’ve used filters like five times during the time I have called myself a photographer. The main reason is that they are just annoying. All of that screwing and with my unnecessarily large fingers I often end up with a fingerprint on the glass. However, this magnetic thing seems worth a try.🤔
Same for me, screwing on a filter is annoying. I rarely use them but when I put them on then I keep them on the lens constantly even though I don't need it for my next shot. So I think the magnetic ones are way more practical ... but most of these sets are really expensive as well.
First off FILTER.....Having both of you in a video is fantastic comedy. Glad to watch both videos as they're the same but different at the same time. I only wish I had the scenery you to find day in and day out. Great video again Sir.
Oh wow, with 1.4k comments I'm pretty sure that winning those shiny new filters is out of reach. However I think I've watched pretty much all of your back catalogue and possibly improved my photography whilst doing so, this surely already makes me a winner. Keep up the good work James, you're an inspiration.
Well.. here goes nothing… filter. Beyond that, love seeing your videos. Bummed to hear about your knee but glad to hear it’s getting better! Looking forward to seeing you on your bikes again too!
When I think of set focal length challenges 70 is never a focal length that comes to mind. ESPECIALLY for landscapes! This was awesome to watch and I've really been enjoying your insights on Sony since you switched systems. I just made the jump from a Nikon D600 after shooting it for nearly 10 years to the A7IV and it is stunning the advances and changes from DSLR to mirrorless shooting. I'm still rebuilding my kit for the new system, so an assist of a new filter kit would definitely be great. I didn't know that anyone made a magnetic clip in system like this, and not having to mess about with catching the filter threads right except the first time sounds fantastic.
Magnetic filter sets are some of the most useful camera innovations in recent times. I usually get too lazy to screw on filters and so I rarely use them but being able to snap them on instantly is a game changer.
So you are the challenge buddy. You guys should do this every month if time allows because it’s much fun to see the different perspectives. Loved a bit of both. Your camera has the most incredible clicks! So off to put the baby down, get some latte and binge. Thanks for the fun during another lockdown. I can’t wait to get out there hopefully with some fancy filters. All the best from overseas.
Filters always come in handy on those bright days or if you want to smooth the water out. I really liked your shot of the sunsetting with the 200 and the 70.
Great to see both you and Nigel in the same video. I have been very intrigued about magnetic filters since I find the Lee filter system a bit on the frustrating side, and therefore I don't use filters much.
Thanks very James for a thought provoking video. Still founded in basic principles, but different vision and approach to 'getting the shots. My limited experience, but have not noted people using graduated filters since digital cameras and Lightroom. Nice that you still practice 'get it right in the camera' concept to this extent .
Great video as always. Glad the knee is feeling better. Amazing how much an injury can effect your life. I'd love to give the filters a good home. Cheers!
great to see you two testing each other. I've already bought TWO sets of KASE magnetics because of Nigel and HUDSON HENRY. I've the 112mm set and a 72mm set. they're awesome! Don't need any more!
Magnetic filters are such a good idea! I bet using those makes for a much smoother process, cutting out the faff of screwing a filter on/off. I've really enjoyed these collab challenges you and Nigel have been doing.
A buddy of mine go out shooting together once in a while and typically come back with the exact same shots. I like the idea of splitting up at a location! I’m stuck inside, sick as a dog, so both these videos (James’ and Nigel’s) have been a treat to watch. Thanks to you both for these!
What I liked best was the camaraderie between you both. Although different in style, you both produce such excellent images. Thank you for sharing you ideas and the encouragement this is to a beginner like me. Good job!
Thanks, James and Nigel, for the fun challenge. Lovely photos at 70 mm. Filter package from Kase with the convenience of magnetic attachment gave a beautiful image and worth dragging the tripod along. With my love of long exposure, this Kase filter package have been on my wish list for a while. I was surprised how both of you took very separate approaches to the challenge. I'm looking forward to more of your videos and adventures.
Ps: F*ing love how almost everyone put ‘filter’ into an ACTUAL SENTENCE and not just a random comment with a solitary word. You really do have the best followers and channel on this UA-cam thingy.
Always love the banter in your videos. Looking forward to checking out Nigel's video as well. I'd not ever seen those magnetic filter rings. That's amazing. Will have to look into that system for sure. I love walkabout photo sessions with my buds. Limiting the focal length is a great addition to added restraints. I'll have to add that to spice things up in the future.
These challenges are really interesting ways to not only expand perspectives but also a great way that get a fresh outlook on composition. Love the use of filters too, it’s always a technique that broadens options. How about a 50mm challenge next?
Using a filter for photographing landscapes is something that I've only recently started doing. It makes much more of a difference than I expected! So much flexibility to make an image more interesting when the conditions aren't ideal.
Great to see these types of challenges James. You guys seem to have a lot of fun together and I can only imagine the conversations you have once you get a "cupppa tea" or 2 in ya'! Would love to see a nice set of magnetic filters arrive, would assist my goal of more long exposure photos in 2022. Cheers!
Very good video. There is a lot to learn by watching two photographers in the same location with different interpretations of how to photograph the landscape. Those magnetic filters are so much simpler to put on than the screw on filters I use.
Yeah those Kase filter setup looks amazing and can see how it would be easier and quicker to throw a filter on or be more inclined to use your filters.
Great content from two of my favourite photographers! Love these challenges and great to see James using the Kase FILTERS! Ones which I hope to be using in the near future 😉
FILTER loved the idea something I do every now and then go out with a fixed length and see what I can get from subjects just to make me think a bit more.
Just throwing my hat in the ring for the Filter set... thanks for the content, and enjoyed your two books... interested in seeing how the change to Sony changes the 3rd!
I l like the idea of limiting to one focal length. Mainly because it can be challenging and u will always learn something when you challenge yourself. Filters are always useful especially when you have the time for the shot your going for.
I saw your challenge with Nigel and loved to see what you each came up with. Nice to see different point of views from the same area. The Kase filter giveaway is great and would love to get this set of filters. Looking forward to your next challenge with Nigel.
As a hobbyist and having a restricted budget I use my 24-70 F4 quite a bit and it’s great to see you showcasing fixed focal lengths that are within the range of many of us. Filters aren’t something I get to use often and the Kase system certainly looks like it would make things easier. I’d love to get my hands on them! As always, enjoyed the video and trust that you’ll be scampering up a mountain in no time.
I enjoy using filters at times. Especially when photographing waterfalls. Also loved this challenge of only using one focal length. I'll have to try this the next time I'm out shooting.
I use those same Kase Wolverine magnetic filters. They are awesome ! Zero tint. I use them on 77mm down to 46mm (a Voigtlander 35mm has that weird filter thread size) and have no problem stacking up to 3 filters at a time without vignetting. TIP : buy more 'filter base rings' or whatever they are called, and more covers. I've got them on 4 lenses and never have to remove them unless I need to fit the hoods. I enjoy all of these 'challenge' videos !
Cracking vid James! Filter, and filters I find really useful and tend to use them most of the time, liked the shot of the 'Cloned out people' the best! 👍
Love watching yours and Neils videos! Always find them interesting to watch and loads of great advice. Love how you FILTERED out the people on the beach by cloning them out which added a good amount of separation. Also FILTERS are always a good accessory to have so I think you should give them to me 😂
There will be no forfeit and not sure people count in the cloning but I will let you off. Some awesome images! Still editing my video for tomorrow - eek!
And 200mm! immediate disqualification....
I heard “Yes to anything” on cloning 😅
“Thanks for the concern about my knee but balls to Nigel’s back pain - I MUST WIN!!!”
People could fit the definition of debris
No harm in a little collateral damage cloning I feel 😂
*Please ignore the supposed whatsappme messages in the comments - it's not me and I've reported it!! Thanks! *
Stick with this one guys, the photos gradually get a bit more interesting I think!

Would be great to win the filter or filters to help me on my way in landscape photography! Thanks for the vid guys!
I would like to use that Filter set. I'm new to photgrapgy and realy enjoy watching your stuff.
I'll check out Nigel's video(s) after I discover his URL 😊
Always watch them all to the end. You are entertaining. 👍🏻
Good to see Nigel being bit by the astrophotography bug :D Soooooon.
Ha, you’re going to be so sick of me and my questions, I’m such a clueless newb!
@@JamesPopsysPhoto I'm sure I can put up with all your questions, it's not as if we gotta share rooms or anything. Oh wait
It's not going to be an easy transition to make, cloud lover to cloud hater. Good luck Nigel 😁
Ha ha - I need to work out want planets are in the sky first… never mind the stars…
@@NigelDanson careful here, planets are harder to see! 😁
I loved the way both you and Nigel looked for different ways to make the focal length work. High, low, silhouette, shallow depth, movement, slow shutter with filter. Most enjoyable. Well done.
The Dynamic Duo at it again, what a way to start my Sunday!
I laughed when you suddenly said, "Bird!" ... reminded me of the movie Up and the "Squirrel!" moment. 😄
Good challenge, and one that I should have a go at sometime. Zoom lenses can make it too easy at times, so restricting yourself to one focal length requires a bit more work to get the composition that you're after. Well done, mate!
Oh, and #filter for the giveaway. My lenses would be honoured to give them a new home (as well as a lot of use)!
Im starting my photography adventure. Your and Nigels are channels I learn most from and the most enjoyable to watch. So keep up the great work 👍
Same. James and Nigel are my favorites.
I actually broke my filters over Christmas when “someone” forgot to properly zip the camera bag closed and then fell onto the pavement next to the car. So, that would be great. But I think sticking with a single focal length is a good challenge for any photographers to practice seeing better.
Love these crossover episodes. Hope Nigel’s back and your knee get better soon. Also, those filters look great.
Filters and water are just an amazing combination. I think the completely smoothed out look has gone out of style but for getting the edge of waves they are amazing.
Love it when the avengers assemble
Oh…and filter
I’ve used filters like five times during the time I have called myself a photographer. The main reason is that they are just annoying. All of that screwing and with my unnecessarily large fingers I often end up with a fingerprint on the glass. However, this magnetic thing seems worth a try.🤔
I have never used filters because I don't like carrying more stuff xD
Same for me, screwing on a filter is annoying. I rarely use them but when I put them on then I keep them on the lens constantly even though I don't need it for my next shot. So I think the magnetic ones are way more practical ... but most of these sets are really expensive as well.
It's incredible the difference a good filter makes. And these being magnetic filters, it surely makes then way easier to use. Love the videos!
A great video. I can't wait to see Nigel's follow up. Filter, filter filter!!
Love that challenge. I like the idea of the magnetic filters that look so easy to use.
First off FILTER.....Having both of you in a video is fantastic comedy. Glad to watch both videos as they're the same but different at the same time. I only wish I had the scenery you to find day in and day out. Great video again Sir.
Filters. Love the video and the compilation between you and Nigel great to see the difficulties in the challenge for you both.

Great Video! Must have a look at Nigel's video now. Also those filters look great, so much faffing with regular methods!
Well.. here goes nothing… filter.

That filter system looks absolutely genius. You gain so much time, really interesting!
Cool change! That's what makes you guys such photographers. Those are also some cool filters.
Great video James. Glad the knee is feeling better. I loved the last sunset image you took at 70mm. That magnetic filter system looks awesome!
Love the filter set. Love your channel too and Nigel's. Great advice always appreciated. Cheers and good luck to all.
Thanks for this fun competition, love the banter you bring on!
Here's my dabble at winning you over for the filters 🤣👏🏼
Really enjoying your content with Nigel, I like to FILTER my UA-cam consumption and you guys are some of the best 😀
Filter ! Really enjoying watching your challenge with Nigel. 👍
Magnetic filter sets are some of the most useful camera innovations in recent times. I usually get too lazy to screw on filters and so I rarely use them but being able to snap them on instantly is a game changer.
Long term subscriber, entertaining challenge, and think appreciation of filters AND tripod in same video is unprecedented?
Nice challenge. Nigel's channel brought me over. Your compositions are very nicely done and I really like the effect the filter added.
Fantastic challenge... You both work very well together. Thank you appreciate the insight from the both of you.
Another excellent challenge. I would also love that filter kit.
Not only another fun video, but a chance at winning a brilliant set of James Popsys tested and approved Kase filters. Thumbs up!

Another great focal length challenge, those filters do look to be very convenient.
Nice challenge and nice shots! Indeed, the magnetic filter system seems to make a real difference in the workflow in the field.
Thats a great idea for Filters, make things a lot quicker. Thank you for blessing someone with those filters. Good luck everyone 🤞
Great video as always. Glad the knee is feeling better. Amazing how much an injury can effect your life. I'd love to give the filters a good home. Cheers!

Fantastic challenge and great to see yours and Nigel’s different styles and approaches. About those filters ;-)
Great content from two of my favourite photographers! Love these challenges and great to see James using the Kase FILTERS! Ones which I hope to be using in the near future 😉
Great challenge and fun to watch you two duke it out. “Filters” are now on the list of must haves.
FILTER loved the idea something I do every now and then go out with a fixed length and see what I can get from subjects just to make me think a bit more.
Always enjoy your videos. It is rare to see you using filters. Great stuff as always
Loved the challenge between you and ND (Nigel, not a Filter)! Loved all the images from you both, well done.
That's a tough choice, but I think you won this competition James 😎
Finger crossed for the filters 🤞
Those filters look and sound so easy to use! Great sots and a fun challenge.
Great crossover episode! Those magnetic Kase filters look nifty!
Fun to watch this...makes me want to try a similar challenge with my photog friends. Thanks for doing the filter giveaway!

A fun challenge and you got wonderful shots from it!
Ok, I’ll give it a shot: Filter
Fun video. I enjoy watching these types of challenges.
I enjoy using filters at times. Especially when photographing waterfalls. Also loved this challenge of only using one focal length. I'll have to try this the next time I'm out shooting.
I've actually haven't given filters ago so these would be perfect!! Enjoyed watching this challenge very much

Another great video, James, thanks! The filters would be very helpful for my work, so thanks for this giveaway opportunity.
Fun video! Good challenge for us all. Interested in trying out the filter set soon.
Cracking vid James! Filter, and filters I find really useful and tend to use them most of the time, liked the shot of the 'Cloned out people' the best! 👍
Great images James I really liked the ones of the lighthouse. Also great magnetic filters!
Love watching yours and Neils videos! Always find them interesting to watch and loads of great advice. That are the best Filters ! Nice how it works. 👊🏽. And loved the shots / challenge
Love your „look“ a man after my own heart
Enjoyed the video, love magnets. Happy to give your filters a new home in Australia
Definitely intrigued by those filters. Not having to deal with screwing them on/off seems like it'd be nice.
Great to see the contrast in styles and final edits in you and nigels images. Those filters look really handy to use. Keep up the great work :)
Really happy to see you've at last joined the ranks of tripod and FILTER users. I love my Kase set, but would welcome these magnetic beauties!
