Yeah, I agree with you. I have multiple e-readers myself. I don't know why, but I'm just attracted to e-readers.
I have the Nook Simple Touch which is going to be discontinued by Barnes & Noble so I'm downloading as many free books as possible because I won't be able to do that with the Nook Simple Touch anymore.
I also have the Nook Glowlight 4
And Kindle Oasis.
My next purchase will be the Kobo Libra Colour.

Kobo’s huge draw is it automotive links to Overdrive which is what libraries use to lend our ebooks! Even e-readers can benefit from supporting their local libraries!

Don’t buy Nooks; Barnes and Noble dropped access to my Library on my Nook Simple Touch. Now is just a worthless paperweight; the rubber coating is deteriorating and sticky
Looking at getting my first but the Kindle isn't an option. If a book is available on one of these things, does that mean it's available on all of them? Sorry for the dumb question.

I love my kindle Paperwhite SE. It's just such a good device. I'm planning to replace it with an oasis if a new one comes out though. (I really want those page turn buttons!)
