I decided to go with Tamiya Gun Metal for the body and mixed it up with some Orange wheels from JR Racing.
It looks great next to my Ultima and I hope it performs well on the Orchard Raceway next season!

Oh what a beauty, great job Craig!
As I said to you before, I'm really feeling that paint job.
With the body colour, the orange wheels, and the orange and yellow decals it has a real 'top force evo' vibe to it..... Just way better looking!
As for the space element, I had major issues fitting everything in my Turbo Optima, Infact I had to leave out the driver figure to save space!
Just imagine how much tighter things would have been back in the day with huge chunky receivers, manual speed controllers, two servos and a resistor!!
Sounds like its similar to the Optima turbo regarding how much of a pig it is to get the body on and off-
very fiddly, and hard to do without scratching the paint and decals.
I also found the thin lexan body shells crack very easily, they are my only gripe with the legendary range.
I've already had to buy a new one for my turbo, and had to order it from Japan!!
I've found a Koswork edition for £425 online.... hopefully going to be putting an order in next week.... you're a bad influence on me buddy! 😂 😅 🤣

Hey James, we are all terrible influences on each other aren’t we 😂🤣 I can’t imagine how hard it must have been BITD to get all the electrical components inside this body. But it also must have been a technical marvel compared to other buggies at the time.
I think it is going to be very close out there on the OR in 2024 and all the vintage buggies in the 4wd class are running stock silver cans so will all be easily compared.
You will love it fella and I can’t wait to see that lovely Koswork edition built and running 🙌🏻

Can’t tell you how it drives yet as I am not ready to run it but it is one of my favourite looking RCs for sure!!

Hey Dirk, I am sure that it will be ok. I have heard that the belt can be swapped with the Optima one which is slightly shorter and provides a little more tension if needed. It is going to be interesting to see if this can keep up with the Top Force Evo?
Wow, your Optima Mid looks fantastic. 👍🏻. While I really hope the Top Force Evo takes the championship this year on the Orchard Raceway, I have a feeling the Optima Mid will end up with the win. Can’t wait to see the cars running this season.

Thanks Nick. I was really pleased with how it turned out in the end. I tend to go a little rogue when doing bodies. I couldn’t resist doing something different with the Optima and it really paid off. Good luck with the build. It is a brilliant RC 🙌🏻
P.S. I was never at all a fan of gold, at all! But I built the Mid and then the Turbo and it’s completely changed the gave for me. If you fancy another great build (and obvs, if you’ve not built it already) The Turbo Oprima is a stunning build and it’s fully hopped up. I was actually a bit disappointed with the Mix for lack of ‘extras’, so if you liked this, you’ll LOVE the turbo!!
The Turbo Optima is on my future list but I worry I won’t get to it before they fully disappear from our shelves again. It does look like a lovely RC

I like it in the dark gunmetal and it is nice contrast to the other in the light gunmetal. Both look unique and very nice! I think this one is going to do super well out on the Orchard Raceway!!!

The Mid looks great in that color! The darker color makes those gold shocks stand out nicely.

Love the body shell 👌 its a cracking car and should win easly on the raceway, ive bot had any of my shocks leak so far, but allways coat the seals in some o ring grease from speedworks, will be the same thing as you used i guess 🤔 looking forward to seeing it out on the track 👍
Hey Richard, I have high hopes for this beauty! It really does look and feel fabulous. I drove the TFE on a shakedown over the weekend and I am not sure about the one way! The car feels like it is under steering but I was on tarmac. The Optima Mid should have a little test next weekend and we’ll get a feel for how the vintage 4wd division is going to play out! Roll on the summer 🙌🏻

Hey Dom. It is going to be the business but I think the Top Force will be faster!!
Penguin undertray fits really well. I used some of the chassis screws to hold it in place a bit like the tf evo.

@@theoagrc I used the 4 screws behind the front bumper and the last 4 screws behind the gearbox, Also velcroed the undetray onto the shell. Does a really good job of sealing the internals
@MrMelton77 nice one! My back garden track is dusty and the cars get full of mud so I really want to be able to do this. All the cars with under trays seem to cope so much better with the dirt
I really like that gray paint and the orange wheels. Looks sharp!! That chassis scratches so easy though....you'll want the undertray.
Thanks for the advice Arky. I have it but was debating how to fit it. Others have given me the confidence to cut it out and go for it!

@arkyrc I use jet black tape so it would still look pretty cool 😎 but the undertray is slick

Hey there Clayton! Thanks for watching buddy. I would love to be able to build a Yokomo Super Dogfighter but they are a little out of budget unfortunately. Here at the OAG we have to have a strict budget each year for investment in the channel otherwise things quickly run away from us! Keep watching as this season on the OR is going to be the best yet!!!
I totally understand, they are an expensive kit! I’ve subscribed to your channel and I wish you every success. Perhaps in the near future people will be asking you to review their kits because your channel has ‘blown up’!

I tell you something old cork, it looks bloody lovely in a darker shade with those wheels. Simple but brilliant! Purely because the kit wheels reminded me of an old Peugeot 205 so I did it in the European racing colours (mainly white with red/yellow/dark blue/light blue) and spent hours on the git and the masking leaked…… :c :c

Hi John, I hate it when the masking leaks!! I have still not mastered multi colours too. The mid was a great build and it was really nice to get the opportunity to build one. I did think that day had passed!! Thanks for watching pal 🙌🏻
