- Please join me as I make an SKCC QSO exchange. I'm using my Ten-Tec Triton IV. And my brand new W1SFR key.
KEY
This key is very nice. It has a light touch, but not too light. Very comfortable.
QSO
This is a tough one. With weak sigs and QSB, I have some trouble getting the call up front. I get the call as we get into the QSO. And we repeat info as required.
In an SKCC QSO, we have to exchange 4-key pieces of information:
1. RST
2. QTH
3. Name
4. SKCC Number
We get into this QSO a little bit backwards. But, we end-up with a successful SKCC exchange.
Thank you for viewing,
73, Jim

FB fist Jim! It's a lot of fun listening to others QSO's. Pulled that guy out of the mud for sure. Gotta love CW for giving you every chance to make positive contact. 73.
Thank you. When you put in all that work, it feels great when you can make the QSO happen. And this beautiful torsion-key was a pleasure to use.
Thanks for the listen in. Just visited your QRZ page. Nice! Blessing Bro and thanks for your service!
Yes, that QSO was a tough one! But the tougher they are, the more fun! Take care, de W6JIM
Wow, Jim, you really had to work hard on that one! Thanks for posting!
Hello Stan. It is more difficult, but that just makes it more fun. Many of my QSOs are with weak signals. Sometimes it's that or nothing at all 🙂.
Beautiful key
Thank you, it is a beauty! Steve, W1SFR makes wonderful keys. I believe he stopped using a stone base and is now selling this key with a shiny metal base with the name "Titan". You can see Steve's keys here: w1sfr.com/

Hi...
Nice key...also the radio rocks 73
SV3IRG, thank you very much. Steve W1SFR makes wonderful torsion-bar keys. This one is a real beauty and a joy to use.
And I love my old Ten-Tecs 🙂. The Triton is a wonderful 100 watt rig. Easy to use and need I mention the silky-smooth QSK 👍
Thank you. 73
Thank you for visiting Peter 👍
What a great combo Jim. I forgot what antenna you are using
Hello Jay. My antenna is a Cushcraft MA5B. It's a small beam. The longest element is just 17 ft. Nice little beam!
Only straigt key can do the last dah nicely longer 😊
I like that too!
Thank you for the realism! What does the alphanumeric (T) after the SKCC number mean? e.g. 15169T? Not all have this.
Thank you John. The SKCC has an awards program that allows you to progress to Centurian then Tribune and finally Senator. The "T" at the end of my number indicates that I am a Tribune with the SKCC. Senator is next. You can read more about the SKCC award program here: www.skccgroup.com/operating_awards/centurion/
@@W6JIM Thanks, Jim. 73 AC5JS
