Upgraded from a MacBook Pro from 2017 and I can’t believe how much cooler it stays and it so much faster… also got the 15in & love it so much
what configuration did you get? I'm still using a 2013 Pro 👻
i really want to uprgade Im on 2019 mbp 16 inch with i7 💀
Was just thinking about upgrading my 2017 pro to the m3 air, how much memory did you get yours?
Hey Cole....I am a new viewer....love your content....especially the edc and desk setups....😊
I appreciate you!
Hey Cole love you content too and the desk set up, what's the device on your desk that is showing the clock?
Thank you man, it's an Amazon echo spot. Unfortunately discontinued.
This is a great review, thank you. You pack a lot in mainly because you talk non stop but don't waste a word. I have the M3 base model in space grey and it is so quiet, so powerful, so fast I don't need any extra RAM or storage and for most people its the best laptop you can buy for the price. I was a windows guy until this, the battery life, keyboard and trackpad are better than I ever had on Dell XPS. Its one of the all time great laptops.
I got the base model as well. And i was a windows guy. But this macbook is on another level.
I've never owned a mac, always been more of a android/Windows guy. That was until I saw the sleek, sexy midnight M3 air the other week. I had no idea it had literally just released but I loved it so much that I picked one up.
Went with the 16gb ram, 13inch one as that's all I needed, and boy, it fuckin SLAPS. I haven't upgraded my laptop in a few years but holy shit does this lil mf make my old one look like my 2015 highscool laptop..
I mainly use it to run slicers for my resin/3d printer, as well as CAD and blender for model making. With the occasional video editing. I probably went overboard with the M3 but I absolutely love it so far.
Glad you're loving it. I wish I had a 16GB version to test.
The AIR doesn’t use PWM for screen dimming -- -very important feature for people sensitive to it. 😊
What's the smart clock you have on the table?
This video came out at a great time. I’ve been deliberating between this and a pro for my workflow
What did or do you go for?
Im gonna go with an M1 Pro, it is still so powerful and can handle more than the new Air@@bayramkanik4312
Would love to know what model you posted for also.
I am getting back into digital media from my college years almost ten years ago. I am upgrading from a 2013 Mac Book Pro 15 inch Base Model.
I am definitely a “storage/ram”
Person. I learned when I was a college kid, this was a downfall to my first MacBook.
Do you or anyone here recommend I get a 13 inch M3 or M2 with 16GB of Ram and 1TB “Air” or a M3 16GB of Ram and 1TB “Pro”?
Guess I am just concerned about the thermal pad technology on a speced up Air.
Does the M3 Air overheat with no fan?… sorry, you answered that! Thanks!
Great video. Are there versions with a matte screen?
no
I have the 16GB version and you can throw anything at it. I'm using it on my odyssey G9 NEO display. Insane powerfull 4K video editing with no throttle.
I think you are showing wrong data for m1 geekbench score.
Nice review bro, BTW what is your 14 pro battery health % on. I'm at 94% max capacity after 14 months if use at least 40 hours a week for coding etc on m2 pro 16"
Currently at 100% with the M3 Pro. I rarely use it off the dock so that could be why - its always using the power adapter as the power source
@@ColeCaccamise I thought I’ve heard it said that you shouldn’t be charging and using at the same time? Did I get it wrong
You for machine or machine for you?
@@sammyjammy6647 i've been doing it for years macs are smart enough to change the power source I believe
I am a Graphic Designer and a Photographer from India who works on multiple layers in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom Classic, Figma and Canva, also I am planning to start learning video editing using Adobe's Premier Pro or Davinci Resolve and motion graphics using Adobe After Effects.
Currently, I am using an AUS ROG Zephyrus G14 from 2020 with 16 gigs of memory and 1 TB of storage (this is the base model btw which has a Ryzen 5 4600 HS CPU and a Nvidia GTX 1650 ti GPU).
I usually have multiple apps running and this is how it might look on average:
1. Photoshop
2. Illustrator
3. Figma (along with Photoshop on rare scenarios)
4. Lightroom Classic (sometimes along with Photoshop)
3. A browser (2 different ones like Brave and Firefox sometimes),
4. Apple Music,
5. Windows file explorer (4 to 5 tabs),
6. A communication app (like Slack or Teams) and
7. Notion.
So now can you tell me whether a person like me can get away with a decently specced Macbook Air (like a 15-inch model with 24 gigs of memory and 1 TB of storage) instead of a much more powerful Macbook Pro?
Wondering the same
The 15 inch M3 has the base chips while with the MBP you can go to the M3 or really powerful M3 Max. with the pro you have also the fans this means MPB won´t decrease in power even if the machine heats. If you stay with base M3 chip I don´t think the difference with the configuration you want to buy for your MBA should show any difference. MBP have better screen, more power thanks to the fan and have more connection. Following your workflow maybe I should go for a MBP but definitely note the base model maybe a M3 pro chip or a base M3 But 24 gb and 1TB SSD but those machines are pricey.
I have asked the same question on multiple tech UA-camr's videos so far I have got a reply from MacRumors saying that I will be fine if I go with a 15-inch MBA with the spec that I have mentioned as he has a similar workflow it seems. I haven't got much response from other people though. But even if I get I am not sure what others may suggest as most people suggest I go with an MBP 14 or 16-inch. Will update you if I get some responses about this. @@kravislagando
I'm in a similar situation and have the same question!
Apologies for the late response, but I think you'd be completely fine with a bumped up 15". Photoshop would probably be smoother on the pros but I don't think by enough that its worth the extra money.
There are significant resolution/scaling limitations with the Air vs Pro. I assume it’s related to M3 vs M3 Pro/Max but it makes it unusable for me connected to an external display
crApple :( - can you elaborate?
I've not experienced this... do you mean performance wise or option wise?
I’m after a new machine for console streaming via capture card. And then of course video editing. Would the M3 Air handle this ok? Or better off going with the M3 pro?
with 16GB youd be fine with this imo
You can just use a displaylink dock and then you can have as many displays as you want lol
שבב הSpaceBar במקבוק פרו וAir הבא יהיה ארוך ב5% וגם הפד בקילר רעיון לסקסיות וקלאסיות למקבוק למסך. בקילר עיצוב יפהפה.
hey mr.cole, please turn on "auto hide and show dock" . Not fully using the entire screen when video editing / multi apps is itching my brain. 🧠
I like to look at it lmaoo
what back pack is on this video? Thanks.
peak design everyday
Is it possible to work with Rino 3D and Unity with the 24 GB version?
You could probably handle basic projects but once you get into complex graphics macs typically struggle. You want a proper GPU in a desktop to be doing anything crazy.
Hi Cole I will starting college soon and I am psychology student and I confused that should I buy the 8gb version or 16gb version of the MacBook Air M3. Will the 8gb last me 4-5 years?
you would probably be fine with 8 but if you're planning to use it for 5 years I honestly think its worth spending a bit more for 16GB. going for the m2 air 16GB could save you the difference
@@ColeCaccamise thank you for your advice 😊
You talk about all the specs which the Apple official infos. But there’re some problems that M series MacBook which you need to review the most, it’s the touchpad and screenshot.
Of course you said that there’s no problem with the touchpad and screenshot. But many people experienced MacBook Air m1 with bad experience of touchpad after buying the new macbook several months afterwards. The touchpad not smooth, even MacBook Pro 2012 touchpad was so very smooth and good, but this air M1 was so bad and mot smooth.
And also after screenshot usually we put the shot directly insert it into Words or Apple Pages. After put it the screenshots for several times, it will loading so ever lasting! Never experienced it from MacBook Pro 2012, even using other things at the same time was never damage from the screenshot like M series MacBook.
So, I don’t know whether your review on M3 junk did the same other like m2 or m3? Without any research or experience it? Better not misinforming.
They need to get rid of the notch
“I wish there was a color that was closer to space black”
Me
“Bruh why don’t you just get the midnight color”
I was going to but it's more of a blue
Have to call you out on the video title’ don’t make a mistake’ really, try harder to differentiate yourself
8 Gigs of RAM ...? We are like 10 years back in history, a laptop I was buying in 2013 had 8 Gigs.
Ridiculous it's still being sold imo
Why does every tech product video have to be som version of “don’t make a mistake,” “don’t waste your money,” or “I was wrong?”
It’s so played out. Surely there are better ways to activate the algorithm than to be this clickbaity.
"MacBook Air M3 After Two Weeks: 8gb of RAM sucks ass"
@@georged822It always ( few years ) has been.
You earn 200,000$.
I upgraded from M2 base Macbook Air to M3 16GB Macbook Air and it worth the money everything is quicker and faster
you would’ve had the same speed upgrade if you had just upgraded your ram
I had M1 16GB air. And M3 air doesn’t feel any faster than M1 in everyday use. But I would imagine for someone who is video editing and doing more intensive tasks it would be a game changer
@@ashwinalagiri-rajan1180 you can see that M2 base that only have 1 NAND SSD and M1 and M3 use 2NAND in base model so they much quicker than M2 base. The reason that I upgrade cuz 8Gb of ram doesn’t enough for me
Let’s be honest we all buy apple products but saying “ it’s worth the money” is a crime
@@billyiscool The M series laptops are literally worth the price. They have 0 competition, especially the Airs.
MBA = Dongles
thats the biggest downside imo, i use the sd card reader a ton and hdmi at least once a week that its annoying
The only good feature is that now the M2 Air cost less.
